Features: · Matte coating resists degradation from scuffing, chemicals, moisture and wide temperature fluctuations. · Compatible with water or solvent flexographic and screen printing inks. · 3M 7852HL features an extra thick adhesive layer for strong bond on textured surfaces. · 3M 7880 features #300 acrylic adhesive for excellent bond strength to a wide range of substrates including metal, wood, HSE and LSE plastics. · 55# and 78# kraft liners die-cut, perforate and fanfold easily. · U.L. (file MH11410) and C.S.A. recognition, except for 3M 7852HL, for indoor and outdoor use. Environmental Performance: The properties defined are based on four-hour immersions at room temperature, unless otherwise noted. Samples were applied to stainless steel 24 hours prior to immersions and were evaluated one hour after removal. See Table 3. Temperature Resistance -- 300°F (149°C) for 24 hours: Slight yellowing. -40°F (-40°C) for 24 hours: No change noted. Humidity Resistance -- 24 hours at 100°F (38°C) at 100% relative humidity: No change noted.

Outdoor Weathering -- Outdoor life appears to be 1 to 1-1/2 years based on 3M testing. Outdoor aging is dependent on climate, the direction the label faces, the surface angle to which the label is applied (horizontal or vertical) and the amount of airborne pollutants to which the label is exposed. Outdoor life is defined as the length of time the dot matrix printing remains legible. Outdoor life of 7880 can be extended to 5 years when printed with the CGL-79 ribbon ink and overlaminated with ScotchCapTM 7735FL Acrylar Overlaminating Film.

Shelf Life: Two years from date of manufacture of material if properly stored at 72°F (22°C) and 50% relative humidity. Converted labels should be stored in polyethylene bags. The maximum recommended fanfolding height is 500 folds (sheets) per box. Agency Approval: U.L. (file MH11410) and C.S.A. recognition, except for 7852HL, for indoor and outdoor use. The following ribbons are U.L. recognized when used with most 3M Computer Imprintable Label Materials: ­ CGL-79 from Mid-City Columbia, 800-462-2336 or 800-996-4656 ­ Ranger 288 from Herbert Dehinton & Co., 847-998-8150 3M does not recommend the Ranger 288 ribbon for bar code printing. Processing: Printing ­ Dot matrix impact and flexographic. Die-cutting ­ Rotary die-cutting is recommended. Fanfolding ­ Fanfolding 3M 7882HL is not recommended. Table 2. Physical Properties:

Liner ­ 78# liner is recommended for jobs over eight inches in width or when liner dimensional stability is of concern. Special Considerations: Minimum application for temperature for the #300 and #200 adhesive is 50°F (10°C). The #400 adhesive provides some adhesion at temperatures as low as 0°F (18°C) if the surface is clean and dry. For best bonding conditions, application surface should be at room temperature or slightly higher. For maximum bond strength, surface should be clean and dry. A typical cleaning solvent is heptane or isopropyl alcohol. Consult the manufacturer's Material Safety Data Sheet for proper handling and storage of solvents.

Higher initial bonds are achieved through increased rub down pressure. Use maximum laminating pressure for best results.
