Miata Headrest Speaker Wiring Recommendations

Miata headrest speakers can be properly wired in either a parallel or a serial configuration. With 4 ohm speakers, be cautious wiring in parallel as this will present a 2 ohm load to your amplifier or radio. Verify that your radio or amp can work with 2 ohm loads before wiring in this manner. Presenting too low of an impendence load can damage some radios or amplifiers. The Millennium-5 speakers are 8 ohms so it is safe to wire either in parallel or series. If factory wiring is present in your Miata, it is usually parallel. We do not recommend driving the headrest speakers with more than 15 or 20 watts as that may overdrive the speakers and damage them as well as cause hearing damage. Note that all Millennium-5 speakers shipped after June 2007 include crossover/blocking capacitors. If you have an older set of Millennium-5 speakers, we have the proper value capacitors available on our website at www.3rdstrategy.com
