Preface

Welcome to Launch Complex Models' first model kit.

More than 4 years of planning and research have gone into this kit in order to offer to you the most

detailed and historically accurate scale replica of the famous Mobile Launcher used to launch NASA's historic Saturn-V rockets during Project Apollo.

The project began as a personal modelling mission, when it became apparent that there were no launch

tower models to accompany any rocket model collections. What began as a discussion on the Launch Umbilical Tower Yahoo Group - an offshoot of the Space-Modelers Yahoo Group - and was intended originally as a group project, eventually evolved into the first product for a new space model company: Launch Complex Models.

Early in the project, difficulties in researching the designs used in Project Apollo became apparent. To

remedy this required a 4,000-mile trans-Atlantic move from the U.K. and the creation of a new United States branch of operations near the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This allowed for direct access to the historical documentation, and included the added bonus of watching the actual launches.

With several local moves, endless visa complications, tight business requirements, and a number of

hurricanes to make things exciting, the model sometimes seemed to be interminably on hold. Yet the anticipation of rewarding those who have waited so long enabled its completion. Encouragement and enthusiasm from customers never wavered, and became the best source for strength and determination to see the project through.

So here we are.

We sincerely hope that the workmanship in this labour of love will be apparent to you during

construction of the model and we hope you enjoy making this model as much as we have enjoyed creating it.
