Beneficiaries

The following organizations will receive a portion of proceeds from 9/11 Remembrance Las Vegas.

Wounded Warrior Project

The Wounded Warrior Project began when several individuals took small, inspired actions to help others in need. One night while watching the evening news, a group of veterans and brothers were moved by the difficult stories of the first wounded service members returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq. They realized then and there that something needed to be done for these brave individuals beyond the brass bands and ticker tape parades. The resulting objective was to provide tangible support for the wounded and help them on the road to healing, both physically and mentally. What had been initially viewed as a small contribution (compared with what the warriors had sacrificed while serving our country) has become WWP's signature program: "WWP backpacks delivered bedside to wounded warriors." Today the Wounded Warrior Project has a vast variety of programs to benefit our wounded. Through WWP's Family Support and Combat Stress Recovery Programs, warriors are given the tools to pursue their life goals without the barriers or stigmas associated with mental or physical health issues. WWP also offers higher education programs, information technology training, and employment assistance services to encourage economic empowerment for warriors to provide long-term financial stability for themselves and their families. Universal Solutions 9/11 Survivors Fund

Since the attacks of 9/11 occurred, tens of thousands of 9/11 survivors and first responders are still struggling 10 years later with massive medical debt, which many had hoped that the government would subsidize. Veterans who have returned from Iraq, and Afghanistan who decided to leave military service lost their Tricare medical insurance and now had to rely on the Veterans Administration (VA), or had to provide insurance for themselves through employment, individual policies or none whatsoever. Many of these heroes are suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Universal Solutions is a patient advocacy organization which has helped thousands across our country who feel they have been victimized by the healthcare system through denied medical claims, incorrectly billed for procedures and services that were never rendered, or have been overcharged.

Beneficiaries

Universal Solutions has set up a 9/11 fund to provide assistance to these survivors and their families, with the goal of being the direct liaison for as many survivors and veterans as possible. As a part of this program, Universal Solutions will compile all prior and current medical bills, conduct audits, and present any findings for reimbursement to the Special Manager of the 9/11 World Trade Center Victims Compensation Fund. Survivors deserve an unbiased review of their medical claims which Universal Solutions is professionally qualified to perform. Please visit www.myuniversalsolutions.com for more information.

USO of Las Vegas

Our troops make sacrifices that most of us can hardly imagine. They leave behind their friends and family and put their lives on the line for us every day. That's why we work so hard to share a touch of home with them wherever they serve -- from free phone cards to care packages to much-needed breaks provided by our entertainment tours. USO Las Vegas is expected to service over 55,000 troops and family members stationed in and transitioning through the Las Vegas region. The center was made possible by the generous support of the Las Vegas Community, the Nevada Congressional Delegation, Sands Corporation, the Clark County Board of Commissioners and McCarran International Airport officials.

Operation Home Front

Operation Homefront (OH) provides emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. The services provided are direct and designed to alleviate a military family's or individual's actual/complete emergency financial burden, as well as counseling and/or recovery support. Emergency financial assistance is in the form of checks paid directly to mortgage lenders, auto mechanics, contractors, hospitals, doctors, dentists and other providers. Other emergency funding assistance, which an applicant receives within 24 to 72 hours, includes the following: · Financial assistance · Emergency food · Emergency home repairs · Critical baby items: formula, food and diapers · Home and appliance repair · Furniture and household items · Local moving assistance · Community events · Wounded Warrior Transitional Family Housing

Honor Guards

An honor guard, or ceremonial guard, is a ceremonial unit, usually military in nature and composed of carefully vetted volunteers. Only those individuals who are highly motivated, maintain exceptionally high standards of appearance, and conduct and show aptitude for ceremonial duty are likely to be considered. A primary role for honor guards in the United States is to provide funeral honors for fallen comrades and to guard national monuments. An honor guard may also serve as the "guardians of the colors" by displaying and escorting the national flag on ceremonial occasions at official state functions. In addition, honor guards usually provide detachments for review by visiting heads of state. In the U.S., military honor guards may serve as ambassadors to the public, presenting a positive image of their service, and assisting with recruiting efforts. 9/11 Remembrance has chosen to support various honor guards who provide ceremony and service for our fallen soldiers.

Quotes from Our Founders

Please feel free to use any of the quotes by our founders when writing about this event. Both founders are available for any style of interview. "9/11 Remembrance gives us the opportunity, on this day, to stay vigilant to our freedom by taking to the streets and celebrating our unity." Terry Revella "This event is designed to celebrate the legacy of our unity, not just on that day of 9/11, but on all days." Terry Revella "The event on September 11, 2001, was nothing more than a criminal act that backfired on the criminals; that event united the citizens of this country in a way not seen since World War II. If it was their intention to divide us, they failed miserably. Emergency services in the United States today are committed to protecting our nation, providing for the welfare of our countrymen and eliminating terrorism." Captain Mark Tavarez "The magnitude of that day was the sacrifice of ordinary citizens." Terry Revella "It took each of us coming together in a common commitment to freedom to remind each of us the power and value of our own lives." Terry Revella "This country was founded on ideals that included life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The criminal act on September 11, 2001, only served to unite police, fire and emergency services along with the people of this great country and modified our beliefs to include life, liberty and the pursuit of terrorists. Let us honor our fallen citizens and armed forces by never forgetting." Captain Mark Tavarez "I saw the worst of mankind and the best of humanity all in an hour." Terry Revella "The duality of man came to fruition in that time. It's a true celebration to remember that the heart of mankind rose out of those ashes. Regardless of the evils that arise in us all, our unity is the heartbeat of our strength." Terry Revella "The events of September 11, 2001 tore at the fabric of this great nation but also unified the citizens and government against any group or person that would seek to do us harm. Let us honor the memory of our lost citizens, emergency workers and armed forces by never forgetting and standing untied against all enemies of our country." Captain Mark Tavarez "It took leadership of great magnitude, in ordinary men and women, to pull us through the minutes of that day." Terry Revella It was not one leader, one man, one woman; but each leader, each man, each woman coming together to lead us through that day." Terry Revella On that day, "On that day, 9/11/01, it was my experience that uncommon valor was a common virtue of ordinary citizens." Terry Revella (Adjusted quote from one of the Marines on Iwo Jima, "uncommon valor was a common virtue." Chester W. Nimitz)
