We have brought arts education, the "Broadway Experience" and the competitive spirit to countless students, teachers and aspiring performers throughout the country. In return, we have had the greatest pleasure in being part of the development of all the up and coming talent presented at our events and forging lifelong friendships as we travel from one great city to another. A graduate of New York's H.S. of Performing Arts, Ron's diverse career spans two decades working with entertainment luminaries including Bob Hope, Ben Vereen, Jerry Orbach, Gower Champion, David Merrick, Trevor Nunn, Gillian Lynn, Arlene Phillips and Susan Stroman. Performing credits: the original Broadway Company of "42nd Street," Broadway & National Tours of "Cats" as the Rum Tum Tugger; "Starlight Express" as Greaseball & "Crazy For You"; Semi-Finalist on the original "Star Search" w/ Ed McMahon. Choreography credits: Studio 54, Disney Cruise Line, Television Hall of Fame Awards; NBA All­Star Weekend; for The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade: "Beauty and the Beast," & "101 Dalmatians", Disney World's 20th Anniversary Parade & Pocahontas at Disney MGM Studios.

Bobby has a B.A. in English and studied at the renowned HB Studios, Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Actors Studio and has successfully created acting programs for dancers throughout the country.

Angelo is the recent recipient of the prestigious Drama Desk Award for producing.

Choreography credits: New York Knick City Dancers, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids, industrials & fashion shows. Andrew & Missy Lay Zimmer are the founders of Planet Dance & Exhale Dance Company, a nationally recognized contemporary jazz company.

ANDREW HUBBARD

(Dance/Acting/Voice Department) Broadway & National Tours: "42nd Street," "West Side Story," "A Chorus Line," "Singing In The Rain," "On Your Toes," "Brigadoon" & the Off-Broadway hit "Tony & Tina's Wedding." He has worked with such luminaries as Gower Champion, Jerome Robbins, Michael Bennett, Donald Sadler & George Abbott. Frank teaches all aspects of musical theatre throughout the U.S. & Canada.

FRANKKOSIK

(Dance Department) A graduate of The North Carolina School of The Arts & trained w/The Joinery Ballet, Thom performed professionally for 10 years in ballet world throughout the U.S., Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada & Asia. He was the featured adagio performer in the world famous "Jubilee" and "Follies Bergere" in Las Vegas; TV/Films: "Rent, " "Mystery Men, "The Affair of The Necklace," "The Drew Carey Show" and "The Closer."

THOMLAKE

(Dance/Voice Department) Broadway cast of: "42nd Street," Las Vegas Original Cast & featured performer of Queen's "We Will Rock You." Sarah has performed internationally and is the Artistic Director of the "Australian, Broadway Network," which represents talent from down under to Broadway! In addition to her theatre talents, Sarah is also the lead singer for the critically acclaimed rock group "Lez Zeppelin," performing all the great hits of the original rock legends.

SARAH MCLELLAN

(Dance Department) Broadway & National Tours: "42nd Street" and a member or the world famous "Radio City Rockettes." Alison has also performed in numerous TV commercials including "Broadway.com" and "Target." Alison is one of Access Broadway's original casting scholarship winners that has successfully gone on to perform professionally. We are thrilled to be an integral part of her career and proud to feature her throughout our tour.

Registration Procedures: When planning to attend one of our events, book your hotel room as far in advance as possible. Please make sure before you contact the hotel to speak directly to your Studio Director/Organizer and make sure that they have contacted Access Broadway and have reserved entry space for your school. Please Note: We do sell out numerous events throughout the season and are unable to accept every entry sent to our office. After you have received an okay from your Studio Director/Organizer that you are definitely accepted to our event you should then contact the hotel and make your reservation. Just call the reservations phone number adjacent to the hotel and event you want to attend. Tell the reservations manager you are attending our event and would like Access Broadway's special room rate. To make sure there are no mistakes; ask the hotel to fax, mail or e-mail you a written report of your room confirmation numbers for safe keeping to prove you are booked and confirmed. Access Broadway Events sell out very quickly and only have a limited amount of rooms at our special rate. When our group room block is completely full we can not guarantee the special rate and the Hotel may charge more for rooms. So book early and enjoy all the amenities of our host hotel at our low discount price. Access Broadway Hotel Room Guarantee Policy: Access Broadway has separate contracts with each individual hotel that may require you to guarantee and pre pay for one or possibly two room nights that will be billed to a major credit card at the time of booking that is not refundable at anytime. This has been implemented and we strictly enforce this policy so as to keep non committed clients from taking valuable rooms from our inventory. This policy effectively leaves a sufficient amount of rooms available for our serious attendees. "PLEASE DO NOT" book rooms for an event if you are not absolutely sure you are attending. I am very pleased to announce our continued association with NYC talent agent, John Shea, Director, Frontier Booking International. John and his team have launched the careers of young performers in film, theatre and television including such notables as Courtney Cox, Sara Tanaka ("Old School"), Jonathan C. Kaplan ("Falsettos"), Access Broadway scholarship winners Shelly Hennig ("Days of Our Lives") and Katie Micha (Broadway's "How The Grinch Stole Christmas and "Gypsy"). John and I will be scouting triple threat talent in selected cities and will be working with us on all the potential talent that we encounter throughout the year.

"DAnce Acts"

BALLET CONTEMPORARY JAZZ HIP HOP LYRICAL TAP OPEN (Dance)

Classical Ballet techniques and choreography with possible additional difficulty points for Pointe work. Up to three tricks allowed. Contemporary dance synthesis of Ballet, Modern and Jazz techniques. Example: (Mia Michaels style choreography). Up to three tricks allowed. Classic Jazz techniques & movements utilizing up-tempo music that emphasizes traditional Jazz. Up to three tricks allowed. Street dance, pop & lock styles, break dance and Music Video genre jazz techniques choreographed to rap & hip hop music (see rules concerning music lyrics). Up to three tricks allowed Lyrical Jazz & Ballet techniques to ballad genre music that demonstrating balance, extension, strength, control an interpretation. Up to three tricks allowed. A wide range of rhythm dance styles from classic Broadway style tap techniques to contemporary "Stomp" & "Noise Funk" style choreography. Up to three tricks allowed. Acts that should be placed in the "OPEN (dance)" category are..."Acro/Gymnastics"; The routine must have four or more acrobatic moves to qualify, "Character/Pantomime"; a dance and or, staging that portrays a character (no vocals, movement only!) "Folkoric"; A dance routine consisting of ethnic styles such as African, Hawaiian, Spanish, Polkas, Flamenco, Irish Step Dancing, etc. A monologue or scene in the "comedy genre" that conveys characters and story lines. (no vulgarity or inappropriate material) A monologue or scene in the "dramatic genre" that conveys characters and story lines. (no vulgarity or inappropriate material) A song of any style that has been written for a "Broadway Show or Movie Musical" that is to be performed in the style, arrangement and character of the show. A song that is classified as a slow tempo "Ballad" that must be performed concert style only!...example: (American Idol). A song that is classified as a uptempo song that must be performed concert style only!...example: (American Idol).

We do not have an opera category and should not be included in any of the above listed categories. Ruling on two or more vocal solos...If you have entered a solo in the Vocal "Broadway" category and have a second vocal solo that is a Ballad or Uptempo which just happens to be in a "Broadway Show or Movie Musical" you may only enter it if...The Ballad or Uptempo is performed concert style...example: (American Idol) and not in the character, arrangement, costume or character of the show the song is from.

"speciAlty Acts"

SONG & DANCE...An act that combines dance with live singing, (no lip-syncing). Contestants will be judged 50% on dance and 50% on vocal ability. This category description is for Solos & Duet Trios Only. BROADWAY DANCE PRODUCTION...An act from a "Broadway Show or Movie Musical" containing dance elements only that is in the character, costuming and music from that particular show....(NO-SINGING!). Groups & Lines are combined for this title and compete against each other in their age group! VOCAL PRODUCTION...An act from a "Broadway Show, Movie Musical or Choir" containing vocal elements only....(NO-DANCE!). Staging and background vocal tracks are permitted as long as it doesn't overpower the live vocalists. Groups & Lines are combined for this title and compete against each other in their age group! ACTING PRODUCTION...An acting scene from a "Broadway Show, Play or Movie" containing acting elements only. (NODANCE ORSINGING!) Staging is permitted and Groups & Lines are combined for this title and compete against each other in their age group! (Absolutely no vulgarity or inappropriate material) SONG & DANCE PRODUCTION...An act that contains (Dance & Live Vocals by the competitor(s)...no lip-syncing! You should enter this title if your act includes "Dance / Live Vocals" and does not fit the description of our "Broadway Production" title. This can include a variety of Vocal & Dance pieces that is not from a "Broadway Show or Movie Musical". Background vocal tracks are permitted as long as it doesn't overpower the live vocalists. Groups & Lines are combined for this title and compete against each other in their age group! BROADWAY PRODUCTION...An act from a "Broadway Show or Movie Musical" containing the elements of "Dance / Characterizations / Live Vocals by the competitor(s)...no lip-syncing! Background vocal tracks are permitted as long as it doesn't overpower the live vocalists.The act must be in the character, costuming and music from that particular show. This includes compilations or medleys of Broadway Shows or Movie Musicals. Groups & Lines are combined for this title and compete against each other in their age group!

Contestants entering our prestigious Access Broadway Title must perform an Acting, Vocal and Dance Category solo...F.Y.I. Song & Dance YOUNG MR. & MISS ACCESS BROADWAY...8 & Under and Open (dance) acts are not accepted as a dance solo! The three solo scores averaged is your final score. All contestants are mentioned with JUNIOR MR. & MISS ACCESS BROADWAY...9 to 12 placements starting at Honorable Mention to 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd, & 1st runner MR. & MISS ACCESS BROADWAY...13 to 19 up. The actual Title recipient must score a minimum average of 95 points to be Titles available in Debut Division crowned. If there is no contestant with the minimum average the highest Debut/Diva "Split" Division contestant will be crowned 1st runner up. This title has no point value Diva Division toward "Best Studio".

PLATINUM AWARD = 1st Place...average score of 96 to 100 HIGH GOLD AWARD = 2nd Place...average score of 92 to 95 GOLD AWARD = 3rd Place...average score of 88 to 91 HIGH SILVER AWARD = 4th Place...average score of 84 to 87 SILVER AWARD = 5th Place...average score of 80 to 83 HONORABLE MENTION = 6th Place...average score of 79 & Under

Three qualified officials score all acts from 1 to 100 points. The three scores are averaged for final score and medal standing. All acts receive their preliminary award and are then eligible for High Score Awards.

ALL COMPETITORS ARE RECOGNIzED...NO ONE GOES HOME EMPT Y HANDED!

All contestants competing in a Solo or Duet/Trio act will receive an Access Broadway Medallion. All contestants competing in a Group or Line will receive an Access Broadway Commemorative Ribbon and the act will be presented with one trophy. Additional medals, ribbons and trophies will be available at our merchandise counter!

Broadway Debut Division

Beginner / Intermediate / Recreational Competition

The "Broadway Debut Division" is adjudicated on a beginner/intermediate level and is designed to cater to our recreational performers. We suggest that performers with an average of less than four years training should be placed in this division, however is ultimately at the discretion of the Studio Director / Organizer.

THERE ARE NO CASH PRIzES AWARDED IN OUR "BROADWAY DEBUT DIVISION" Trophies are awarded in the "Debut Division" for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place High Score. Acts must score 95 points or better to be eligible for High Score Awards. Please Note: Due to the fact that we are unable to monitor the level of expertise of every studio & student the "Broadway Debut Division" is not eligible for "Best Studio High Score Points".

Broadway Diva Division

The "Broadway Diva Division" is adjudicated on an advanced level. Performers with an average of four or more years training should be placed in this division. Regional Competition cash prizes are only awarded when there are 7 or more acts entered for a "Title" Grand National Competition cash prizes are only awarded when there are 10 or more acts entered for a "Title"

If there are not enough acts entered for a "Title" to qualify for a cash prize, a trophy will be presented. If eligible for prize money, checks will be made out to studios only and be available at the end of our event.

Advanced Competition

HIGH SCORE TROPHIES, BEST STUDIO POINTS & CASH AWARDS ARE ONLY PRESENTED TO 1ST, 2ND & 3RD PLACE SCORES OF 95 POINTS OR BETTER!

For every "Diva Division" high score you win, your studio receives points. The most points by a Studio will receive the prestigious title of "Best Studio". The point valuation system is as follows:

GENERAL RULES

1.) General...Entry forms and fees must be received by the due date listed on the schedule page (see due date for your city). Many of Access Broadway's events sell out quickly. Prior to e-mailing or mailing paperwork, calling our office at 1(516)594-6050 or e-mailing us at [email protected] before the event due date is the best way to verify availability and ensure your acceptance to our events. Studios are not required to attend both the workshop and competition although "Workshop / Competition Studios" will be accepted first to our sold out events. 2.) General...Entry fees will only be accepted (by the event due dates "see schedule") are in the form of a studio's business check, money order or certified bank check. No personal checks. Any remaining balances due will only be accepted in (CASHONLY) when checking in at our Access Broadway's registration desk. 3.) General...Entries that are received after our entry form & fees due date (see due date for your city) will be charged an additional 10% to their total competition fees. Late Workshop entries are specified on the Workshop Entry Form. 4.) General...There is a $50.00 charge if Access Broadway receives a check back from the bank as "unpaid" for whatever reason and all future payments from the studio will have to be in the form of (CASHONLY) at event check-in. 5.) General...There are no refunds for entry fees. Credits are issued only in cases of documented injury or illness with a bona fide doctor's note and credits issued to the studio only. 6.) General...Independent entries are not accepted at our events...individual students must be entered via their studio with a studio check. We do not accept entries and payments from students or parents. 7.) General...Confirmation packets will be mailed approximately 14 days prior to the event with all event specifics detailing program, timetables, entry numbers, facility directions, music labels and any additional information needed. 8.) General...Photocopy entry forms as needed and complete the official competition and workshop entry form. Each competition entry is to be submitted on a separate form and completed in its entirety. Include with your paperwork our Event Master Form complete with all participants' names, signatures and dates. All participants and parent / guardians thereof (if under the age of 18) must be informed and consent to our Waiver & Release in this form. Incomplete forms will not be accepted. Please make a copy of your entries prior to sending for your reference. Multiple entries from the same studio must be sent in one packet. All workshop and competition entry forms must be typed or printed clearly. Access Broadway is not responsible if names are not clear or if misspelled by the applicant. 9.) General...Competition and Workshop entry forms may now be submitted in our Microsoft Excel or Word format. You may request a copy of our entry file online at our e-mail address: [email protected] It will include complete instructions on sending in your entries via computer file. Make sure you recieve a return e-mail from Access Broadway confirming that we received your e-mail entries and are accepted to our event. 10.) General...When sending entries via e-mail you must mail to our office a paper copy of our "Event Master Form" completely filled out along with your payment. These are the only items we need mailed to our office. 11.) General...All participants knowingly participate in the Access Broadway Inc. Event at their own risk and waive all claims for injury, damage or loss to his or her person and property during their participation and release the promoters, directors, principals, agents, consultants, independent contractors and employees of Access Broadway Inc. from any liability for injury, damage or loss which may be caused by any act or omission of any of them. Access Broadway Inc. provides performing and educational experience in various forms of the performing arts including, but not limited to, dance, acting and voice; and that these activities may involve workshops, practice sessions and competition by participants. 12.) General...A condition of the participation of all entrants acknowledge, fully release and hold no claims to any photographs, recordings, taping, or filming of participants by any and all Access Broadway Inc. staff members or members of the press. All media of all participants of an Access Broadway Event become the property of Access Broadway Inc. and may be used for any and all purposes. 13.) General...Agreeing to our Waiver & Release and abiding by our Rules & Regulations from all participants is a condition of participation in the event. 14.) General...Studio Director / Organizer / Supervisors are the liaison between Access Broadway Inc. and their organization and are responsible for fully informing all the participants and event observers from their organization of any Waivers/Rules/Regulations, etc. or questions and concerns regarding our program. As your studio's representative, the Access Broadway staff will deal with you exclusively for all of your studio / organization's concerns, questions and particulars. 15.) General...Access Broadway's registration desk will open one hour before the scheduled event. Only Studio Director / Organizer / Supervisor will receive registration packets and are to check in their acts unless our office has been previously notified. 16.) General...There is absolutely no recording devices allowed during our competition & workshop. Our Awards Ceremony is the only portion of our event that we allow the attendees to record. Recording services are provided exclusively by Access Broadway's in-house media department that videos all competition acts and workshop classes. It is the studio's responsibility to inform their participants of such. In order to protect the performers and the work of their teachers / choreographers and to abide by the copyright law, your cooperation with this matter is appreciated. No recording devices of any type are allowed in the dressing rooms. Violators will have there recording device confiscated and will face disqualification of the acts being recorded or forfeiture of the entire organization. 17.) General...Cell phones must be turned off in any performance areas or places that might be disturbing to our event. Cell phone cameras/videophones are strictly prohibited. 18.) General...Access Broadway is not responsible for theft, loss, damage or misuse of anyone's personal property or equipment. We have the exclusive right to deny any person(s) or studio(s) access to our event in anyway or anytime due to misconduct, misuse or otherwise. Any participants, audience members and teachers that cause disturbances or do not conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner will be escorted off the premises by event security. In addition, all of Access Broadway events are private functions and we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone or disallow any performance for any reason we deem necessary. 19.) General...Smoking is strictly prohibited in any dressing rooms or competition / workshop areas and only allowed in designated smoking areas of our host venue. Food, beverage or gum is not allowed in the performing areas, dressing rooms, or audience. Dressing rooms, performance areas and audience areas are to be left in the same condition after the event as before it began. Thank you for your consideration. 20.) General...Solicitation or advertising of any kind at our events is prohibited. 21.) General...Good sportsmanship is expected from all participants, teachers and spectators. Applause and cheering is encouraged; however, screaming or air horns will not be permitted. Poor conduct may result in disqualification. 22.) General...Access Broadway, The Broadway Cup, The Las Vegas Cup, The Broadway Cup Championship, The City Of Entertainment Championship, The Undisputed, Undefeated Champion Of All Awards are registered trademarks of Access Broadway, Inc. Original Brochure Designs, Logos, Literature, Forms, Rulings & Titles are the property of Access Broadway Inc. and are protected by copyright law. Any use of this material without the express written consent of Access Broadway Inc. will be prosecuted.

WORKSHOP RULES

1.) Workshop...Registration desk opens at 7:30am on Saturday & Sunday. Registration packets with teacher's & student wristbands and prepaid observer passes will be distributed to Studio Director / Organizer / Supervisors only. 2.) Workshop...Students must wear the appropriate wristband and have it visible throughout the workshop sessions. 3.) Workshop...Students are not required to attend every class although our fees are all inclusive. Only students attending the workshop may participate in Access Broadway Auditions. Students are not allowed to switch workshop sessions unless under the direct approval from our "Chairman of Officials". 4.) Workshop...Our diverse workshop includes Access Broadway Auditions where we guide the students through a simulated Broadway audition. Students are not required to audition, although we highly recommend it.

5.) Workshop...Access Broadway Audition Scholarship Winners (eligible only to those who take the full workshop) receives complimentary workshop classes for the following season, but are not eligible to re-audition or win the scholarship again until one full season has past. Access Broadway does not offer or promise any scholarship winner or event participant casting or talent management information or representation. All offers concerning talent, representation and referrals are handled directly with our Talent Search Director and Chairman of Officials on a case by case basis with the actual participant and parent/guardian if under the age of 18. 6.) Workshop...All observers must have an observer wristband to watch our workshop which can be pre-paid or bought at our registration desk on the "day-of" the event and must be worn and visible to our staff. Teachers/ Studio Director / Organizer / Supervisors must also wear their wristbands. Anyone found in the ballrooms without them will be escorted out immediately. 7.) Workshop...All observers, teachers & students must be quiet and courteous, with cell phones turned off when entering, during and exiting our workshop. Unnecessary noise and movement during sessions is extremely disturbing and rude to our instructors and students as it pulls focus and is distracting. Event security will quickly escort any distractors from the session. 8.) Workshop...There must be a minimum of fifteen pre-registered students in order to present our Actor / Singer Workshop. If we do not reach that minimum number, those students who pre-registered will participate in the Dancer Workshops whic h a ls o feature Acting & Voice classes. 9.) Workshop...Access Broadway Inc. reserves the right to combine, change, cancel or re-schedule any part of our workshop or present it in our extended one day format as well as switch the posted event itineraries as we see fit in order to present a time efficient, smooth running event. Access Broadway will send a final itinerary to Studio Director / Organizers two weeks prior to an event with any changes to the schedule. accept any requests after our deadline. Our schedule will then be set and no other changes except scratching act entries will be permitted thereafter. Please Note: There are no refunds or credits for scratched acts. 2.) Competition...Changing our designated act placement and requesting special performance times will be billed at $15 per act for administrative fees and must be received by our program deadline. Please be forewarned, by requesting this, you might have requested a performance time after the High Score Awards for that particular act hence not being eligible for it. Access Broadway does not move any of our High Score Titles or Award Ceremonies to accommodate special act requests. All balances must be paid in (CASH ONLY) when you check in at the event. 3.) Competition...All schools are carefully scheduled to have enough time between acts for costume changes. If Access Broadway fails to give you at least four acts to change, we must be notified by the program deadline so we can move you. Do not enter any acts that cannot change within 15 minutes. In some cases, Access Broadway, at the actual event, may move up or bump back acts to allow a smoother running competition. Teachers must notify Access Broadway emcee(s) and/or personnel of any problems. Excessive delays by any Studio / Organizations will result in implementing rule (35 Competition) by our Chairman of Officials. 4.) Competition...In the event we have a numerous competitions running simultaneously and you are accidentally scheduled to perform in two stages at the same time, you are asked to prepare for the group performance first as they take priority over solos & duet trios; our stage manager will then re-schedule the solos & duet trios. 5.) Competition...We do not re-schedule acts to accommodate a single teacher's viewing. Coordinate with your assistants to cover performances in each room. All competitors must be ready to perform when scheduled. If you miss your performance time you will be scratched with absolutely NO REFUND. 6.) Competition...Studio Director / Organizer / Supervisors are required to check in at least one half hour prior to the scheduled performance time. PLEASE NOTE: the majority of our events run ahead of schedule...please plan accordingly. 7.) Competition...All participants must be registered and can only compete for one studio 8.) Competition...Broadway Debut Division is adjudicated on a beginner / intermediate level and is designed to cater to our recreational performer. We suggest that entrants with an average of less than four years training be placed in this division however is ultimately at the discretion of the Studio Director / Organizer. Since we are unable to monitor the level of expertise of every studio & student, the Broadway Debut Division is not eligible for "Best Studio High Score Points". 9.) Competition...Broadway Diva Division is adjudicated on an advanced level. Performers with an average of four or more years training should be placed in this division. Broadway Diva Division high scores are eligible for (Best Studio High Score Points". See page 9 for point breakdown. 10.) Competition...If more entries are received than the weekend event's timetable allows, performers will be limited to one solo each. 11.) Competition...Multiple entries by the same performer are permitted for each title; however, soloists will be eligible for only one high score placement within each title. 12.) Competition...Adult performers entered in the age division of 20 & Up are eligible for the title of Best Solo & Best Group in both the Debut & Diva Divisions. These titles have no point value toward "Best Studio". 13.) Competition...Entry type and time limits is either a (Solo 1 performer...3 minutes), (Duet/Trio 2-3 performers...3 minutes), (Group 4-15 performers ...5 minutes), (Line 16 or more performers...6 minutes). To request extended time for an act over our time limit(s): please refer to our entry forms for prices. The maximum amount of overtime you can purchase is (3 additional minutes for Solos and Duet/Trios). (4 additional minutes for Groups and Lines). Any act that goes over our allotted time limits without notifying and paying for those fees in advance will have points deducted from their overall score and billed and or deducted from any prize money the additional time increments accordingly. 14.) Competition...Correct placement and calculation of age groups is according to the performer(s) ages on the first publicized date of the competition. For duet/trios and all groups: add the ages of all performers in each act and divide by the number of performers for the average age. All decimals are dropped when determining age group (i.e. average age 12.9 would compete in the 9-12 year old category). 15.) Competition...Absolutely no lead vocals on the performers' accompaniments in our Vocal, Song & Dance or Broadway Production categories. Background vocals are permitted, but must be recorded at a low volume level as to not overpower the performers' live vocal pieces. 16.) Competition...Our Hip Hop category is under constant observation for unsuitable music lyric content. Please double check all lyrics particularly in this category to avoid any unpleasant conflicts & controversies. For Access Broadway's policy and ruling concerning questionable acts please refer to rule (35. Competition). 17.) Competition...Acro/Gymnastic moves / tricks are allowed in all dance and specialty categories but are limited to 3 moves. Four or more moves must be placed in the "Open (dance)" category. 18.) Competition...Props and/or stage sets are allowed in all categories if used as part of the act and all props must be free standing and may not be attached to any apparatus or stage rigging. No fire, knives, weapons, fog machines, water or animals. Motor vehicles cannot be started. Special lighting requests are not permitted. All props and stage sets must be set up and removed within 30 second setup time and a 30 second teardown time. Additional setup time can be purchased at $10 per minute and should be included on your competition entry form. Access Broadway staff does not set up any props or scenery for participants. The Stage must be returned to its original pre-performance

COMPETITION RULES

1.) Competition...Confirmation packets will be mailed approximately 14 days prior to the event with all specifics detailing program timetables, act numbers, facility directions, music labels and any additional information needed. Studios will be given a program deadline to contact our office with any corrections to performer's names, song titles, etc. Please e-mail all your changes to [email protected] If you have multiple changes, please do not send an e-mail for every change. Please carefully review the entire schedule first then send us one or if needed two e-mails with your complete list of changes. Be thorough as to your requests and our office will e-mail you back a confirmation of the changes. If you do not hear back from us or are requesting anything out of the ordinary that needs our approval you will have to follow it up on the phone and speak directly to one of our competition coordinators (516)594-6050. E-mails are date sensitive and we will not

condition by each act's teachers, parents, studio crew. Throwing props off into the audience is not permitted. Do not use props that might cause damage or leave a residue on stage. Any damage incurred to our set, stage, flooring from props/sets will result in a monetary fine to that act(s) studio. 19.) Competition...Studio Director / Organizer / Supervisor are responsible for placing they're acts in the right categories (please refer to page 8). Acts not categorized correctly will face overall point deductions and be disqualified for that particular High Score. All discrepancies and final decisions will be made by our Chairman Of Events. 20.) Competition...Music may be presented in four different ways; 1.) You may plug your IPOD directly into our sound system. You must accompany the device with a typewritten play-list for our sound technician, directions (if neccessary) on how to use it and leave the device with our sound tech during the duration of the competition 2.) You may also present your music in the form of MPEG audio file or AAP audio file given to us on a memory stick or e-mailed to us prior to the competition. All tracks must be re-named with the act number that we assigned to them. Please also accompany the media with a typewritten play-list for our sound technician. 3.) All of your music on one custom CD made exclusively for our event including a second CD for a two room competition. The CD's must be properly labeled with a typewritten play-list for our sound technician. 4.) Single cut CD's in a protective case or sleeve (one case for each competition room) or on a clean, high quality cassette tape, with up to a 3 second leader cued to start. Each CD or tape must be labeled the routine number, name, studio name and code letter written on the actual CD/Tape. Studio music organizers must bring a backup tape or CD. We are not responsible for damaged CDs as a result of their not being in individual protective sleeves. 21.) Competition...Record all music at the appropriate speed as the sound technician is not responsible for adjusting pitch. The volume level is at the sole discretion of the sound technician. Music is to be turned in at least a half hour prior to the start of each session. Music constantly held back from our staff until the last possible moment may result in overall point deductions and or disqualification. Music will be available for pick up at the end of each awards ceremony at our registration desk. Music is to be picked up only by the Studio Director / Organizer / Supervisor or an appointee that has been introduced to our staff. Access Broadway is not responsible for music not picked up. A $15 shipping & handling fee will be charged for returned music. 22.) Competition...Wireless microphones are available for acts requesting them. Contestants must be backstage at least three acts prior to their performance to be prepared by our sound technician only! Contestants must promptly see our sound technician when their act is over for us to remove the microphone. Contestants are forbidden to remove or rip the microphone off yourself. You will be liable for equipment damaged by your negligence. Our main stage offers 4 headset & 3 handheld microphones. Our second & third stages offer 3 headset & 3 handheld microphones each. We also have two microphone stands available in each competition room. We do not allow outside sound equipment to be plugged into our sound system except IPOD's. 23.) Competition...We allow one teacher to stand by our sound technician to relay notes during their acts performance. We also allow that teacher to control the microphone and music levels throughout the duration of the act should you desire. Please Note: Our sound tech has the final say on all levels and controls and may take over the sound mix if neccessary. 24.) Competition...Teachers may not enter the stage or prompt performers during their performance (ages 8 & under may be assisted with on-stage line up). Teachers & performers only allowed backstage. 25.) Competition...No re-performances allowed unless approved by the Chairman Of Events. 26.) Competition...Dressing rooms are to be shared by all competitors unless otherwise posted. Same gender parents and teachers only allowed in dressing rooms, no exceptions! Do not rope off areas or place studio names on any dressing rooms. Access Broadway will specify in our schedule what time dressing rooms will be available. Do not enter or set-up costumes prior to our scheduled time. Studios that damage or deface any of Access Broadway or Host Venues property and equipment will be liable for all damages and disqualified from our event. 27.) Competition...Warm up and practice is strictly confined to disignated areas only. No rehearsing is allowed in public areas and foyers of our host facility that block and disturb the general public. 28.) Competition...Access Broadway reserves designated rows of seats for Teachers only! Teacher wristbands must be worn & visible to sit in this area, no exceptions! Audience seating is on a first come first serve basis. You are prohibited to hold or place garments on rows of seats if your guests are not present. Once you are present and have established your seat, you may then place a holder on it to stretch your legs for rest room breaks, etc. 29.) Competition...There is no spectator fee to watch the competition. Spectators are expected to enter and exit the theatre in between performances only. 30.) Competition...Scores are not rounded up! Many preliminary and high score awards are decided by tenths of a point. In the event of a tie score, our Chairman of Officials reviews the score sheets and views video of the acts in question either breaking the tie after a second viewing or declare that those acts stay tied and share the award in question. Judges do not re-adjust those score sheets. Score Sheets will be handed to studio directors only at the end of the entire event. 31.) Competition...Regional Competition cash prizes are only awarded when there are 7 or more acts entered for a "Title" and must score 95 points or above. Grand National Finals Competition cash prizes are only awarded when there are 10 or more acts entered for a "Title" and must score 95 points or above. If there are not enough acts eligible for prize money, trophies will be awarded. If eligible for cash awards, checks will be made out to studio directors. 32.) Competition...Best Choreography is selected by our judging panel and may be awarded to a Duet Trio, Group or Line act only. 33.) Competition...The title of "Best Studio" is won by accumulating the most amount of High Score points in our "Diva Division." Please see our "Scoring & Divisions" page for point breakdowns. 34.) Competition...Access Broadway's Chairman of Officials has executive authority and the final decision concerning all competition matters including, scoring, disqualifications, rulings etc. 35.) Competition...Overall point deductions & disqualifications from our Chairman of Officials may result from the following reasons: A.) Over time limit, B.) Entered in wrong category, C.) Act not completed, D.) Music not cued... cue exceeds 3 seconds and original or backup music not turned in on time, E.) Act out of our running order schedule or the intentional holding of acts (unless approved by our event director), F.) Videography / photography during your schools act, G.) Videography / photography during different schools acts in order to jeopardize them...in the event this is proved we will deduct from the school in question, H.) Costumes not appropriate for family viewing, I.) Act not age-appropriate, sexually explicit or violent, J.) Music lyric contents found to be vulgar, derogatory or unacceptable in any way, K.) Any other rule infractions. Our Chairman of Officials ruling on these matters will result in one or all of these actions; 1.) Points deducted from overall score. 2.) The act being stopped immediately during performance. 3.) Disqualification from High Scores. 4.) Disqualification from the competition with no awards or refunds. 5.) Studio / Organization ban from any future Access Broadway Events. Please don't put us in an awkward situation, check all of your material before entering. 36.) Competition...Any protests by a studio must be brought to the attention of our Chairman Of Officials immediately by the Studio Director / Organizer / Supervisor only! No parents, students or other guests are permitted to speak on behalf or the studio representative. No protests may be presented while our Award Ceremony is in progress. 37.) Competition...The Access Broadway faculty is in high demand throughout the country and abroad and frequently teaches Master Classes for Studios & Organizations that sometimes attend our events. A.) Access Broadway adjudicators that judge an act that they personally directed or choreographed will be eligible for adjudication purposes only and will not be eligible for High Scores, Best Choreography or Best Studio points. B.) Acts that have been associated with one of our faculty but are adjudicated by assigned judges that are not in conflict of interest may compete with no restrictions in our competition. Studio Directors / Organizers please notify our office staff when sending in paperwork if this concerns any of your acts. 38.) Competition...Access Broadway reserves the right to add additional days or to cancel or extend any competition as a result of the number or entries received, or to make any changes in the event including changing the event venue/location due to unforeseen circumstances or conditions beyond our control. In the event of cancellation on our part, entry fees will be refunded or transferred to another event city as desired by the studio director. 39.) Competition...The Broadway Cup and Las Vegas Cup Winners may take possession of the cups only when signing the "rules & by laws release" concerning the awards and understand that it is a temporary loan and must be returned to Access Broadway for the following season.
