American Civil War Museum of Ohio 123 East Court Street Bowling Green, OH 43402 4193520209 www.acwmo.org

Community Leaders, The American Civil War Museum of Ohio was formed to satisfy our community's need for a unique educational museum by collecting, preserving, and interpreting the American Civil War and its impact on the current generation of American people. The museum is located at 123 East Court Street Bowling Green, OH and is organized as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit Ohio corporation and receives no direct funding from city, county, state or federal agencies. The museum currently has no paid employees and relies on museum visitation, gift shop sales, memberships, donations, and corporate sponsorship to fund the museums educational programs and operations. During the first full year of operation ending December 31, 2007 the museum had 2151 visitors from across the region explore the museum. Museum volunteers also provided group educational programs outside of the museum at schools, churches and various business locations for an additional 1951 individuals and the popular "Traveling Exhibit" was viewed by an estimated 1800 community members. In total, the museum was able to educate a total of 5902 citizens of the community including students, senior citizens and adults of northwest Ohio. Most importantly, 1861 school children from many local school districts had the opportunity to experience one or more of the educational programs offered by the museum. 494 of these students were from Wood County school districts. The American Civil War Museum of Ohio has participated in many special events that have allowed community members to visit the museum free of charge. Some of these events include the Bowling Green Memorial Day Parade, Veterans Day, Be a Tourist in Your Home Town event and the Bowling Green Downtown Art Walk. The museum completed an expansion of its facilities in November of 2007 that allowed the museum to nearly double the available space for exhibits and programs. This expansion allowed the museum to offer improved educational opportunities for the community and enabled the museum to become a true "destination site" for travelers. The American Civil War Museum of Ohio is now searching for community partners to sponsor the museum and several vital educational programs. Sponsorship opportunities include the MUSEUM PRIMARY sponsorship, SCHOOL TALK PROGRAM sponsorship, TRAVELING EXHIBIT sponsorship and the AFTER HOURS PROGRAM sponsorship.

The sponsorship opportunities are flexible and can be further tailored to your needs. Please contact Mark Young 4193520209 [email protected] for further information.

School Talk Program Sponsorship (12 months)

Purpose: The purpose of the School Talk Program Sponsorship is to provide educational programs to the schools of northwestern Ohio FREE OF CHARGE. These school programs are undertaken both at the museum and at the local schools. Ohio's fifth and eighth grade students have the Civil War as part of their required curriculum. Some of these school districts are not able to afford these programs and the museum is not financially capable of bringing the programs to these students without cost. The programs can range in price from $50 $400 depending on the number of students involved, program location, duration, and number of museum personal involved in the program. In 2007, the museum brought educational programs to nearly 2,000 students and 550 adults. Goal: Our goal is to enable as many students as possible to participate in our educational program. Your involvement as a School Talk Program sponsor will enable the American Civil War Museum of Ohio to reach every school that would benefit from our program. There will be NO CHARGE to any school that wishes to profit from a museum program. It is our goal to reach as many students as possible. We estimate reaching in excess of 6,000 students with your sponsorship help. In 2007, the Traveling Exhibit was seen by over 1,800 residents. Goal: The goal of the Traveling Exhibit is to educate as many large groups as possible outside of the museum on Ohio's Role in the Civil War. The museum then remains open until 8:30 pm for the benefit of the attendees. This is a new program that began in January 2008.
