age Accpac ERP version 5.5 is scheduled for release in May 2008. It has some significant updates to the software designed to add value and usability. In this article we preview some of the new features and functionality.

Includes SageCRM

The award-winning customer relationship management (CRM) solution, SageCRM, is now bundled with Sage Accpac -- at no additional charge. SageCRM includes Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service Automation components in an easy-to-use and highly flexible solution. By integrating your front and back office, SageCRM delivers a complete view of your customer information to empower your entire staff to work together to build profitable, long-term customer relationships. If you have not yet discovered the value of a powerful CRM solution, there's never been a better time. We'd be happy to show you ways you can put SageCRM to work.

Tighter Integration With SageCRM

Version 5.5 also enhances the existing integration between SageCRM and the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Order Entry, and Purchase Order modules of Sage Accpac. Now, with just a few keystrokes, sales and customer service staff can drill down from posted transactions to original source documents such as purchase orders, shipments, and

invoices to uncover detailed information. Your sales representatives will have access to accurate and up-to-date pricing, stock availability, and customer information from SageCRM. This allows them to quickly answer customer inquiries and to produce accurate quotes and orders. Refunds, returns, purchase orders, shipments, and invoices can be created in SageCRM. The system will then automatically transfer the data to Sage Accpac, saving duplicate data entry tasks. The Ship-To and Bill-To addresses will be synchronized between Sage Accpac and SageCRM, so you can be assured you're working with up-to-date information. Enhancements to the SageCRM self-service Web portal will provide your customers with real-time access to their account information,

such as delivery status and invoice history -- whether or not your office is open. The Web portal also allows your customers to configure and place orders online using the customer-specific pricing and volume discounts you have established for them.

Business Intelligence Dashboard

Version 5.5 adds a new dashboard feature that will provide management with easy access to the business information they need to better analyze, predict, and manage business performance. The tool that makes this possible, Xcelsius® from Business Objects, is now included with Sage Accpac. The Dashboards make key performance indicators (KPIs), such as the age of your accounts, instantly available. The KPIs provide you with information that you can turn into action to improve your cash flow. The Receivables Management dashboard can help improve cash flow and support cash requirements by monitoring your collection, credit, and remittance processing activities. A Payables Management dashboard works to improve your company's cash management by allowing you to manage the timing and terms of payments and maximize available discounts. The Sales Analysis dashboard offers views of KPIs such as overall sales trends, giving your sales manager the information needed to increase sales and improve close rates.

· Un-gated Knowledgebase content, so site visitors will no longer be required to login to benefit from the solutions in the Sage Accpac Knowledgebase. This makes it easy for current and potential new customers to see what's new and interesting with Sage Accpac, as well as see all of the helpful resources available for them online. The only area that will remain in need of a login will be that designated for hot fix/ update downloads.

Usability Enhancements

In addition to extended enterprise integration and business intelligence improvements, version 5.5 provides significant usability enhancements throughout the system, including a new General Ledger Account Rollup feature that supports automatic account consolidation, new multicurrency revaluation options, and streamlined processes for managing job tracking.

ZOOM IN

Improved Sage FAS Integration

Version 5.5 improves the integration between Sage FAS and the Sage Accpac Purchase Order and Accounts Payable modules. It will minimize the effort required to track fixed asset purchases and in accounting for ongoing monthly depreciation entries.

The new Dashboard feature can help you better analyze, predict, and manage business performance.

Available For All Editions

Modules, previously available only for the 500 edition, such as Project and Job Costing, now are available at all levels, including the 100 and 200 editions. You can learn more about the Project and Job Costing module in our article on page 4. We'll be covering many of the features of version 5.5 in more detail in the coming months. Sage Accpac Online Community Included Options

For a long time, Sage Accpac customers have had the ability to add specific optional functionality by selecting from the many available add-on solutions from Sage Accpac Options. In Version 5.5 the functionality from several of the Sage Accpac Options products is bundled with the Sage Accpac financial and operational modules: · Ops Inquiry with Order Entry The new Sage Accpac Online Community, www.sageaccpac.com/community, provides online support options for users and serves to foster communication and a sense of community between Sage Accpac users. Some of the key features and benefits of the new Sage Accpac Online Community are: · A new forum and weblog (blog) software with various helpful features designed to improve the online experience.

uman Resource Management is one of the most time-consuming and paperintensive functions within any organization. Fortunately, Sage Accpac ERP offers an easy-to-use HRMS (Human Resource Management Software) solution that helps to streamline and automate many of the tasks involved. Compliance Trainer -- The premier Webbased training solution provides high-quality, multi-media courses on sexual harassment, discrimination, and other legal matters. Available for the U.S. marketplace only. the benefit plan set-up, and walk employees through the open enrollment process. Train -- Automate the scheduling, recordkeeping, and logistics of employee training. You can define training needs for each job, track and manage certifications, and analyze data to better understand the costs associated with your company's training programs. Alerts -- Get the right information to the right people for timely action. Use specified actions and trigger dates in this e-mail notification tool to send automated messages, and keep employees and applicants informed about activities and pending issues. Link -- This import/export application uses templates to transfer data. You can import ASCII files from another application or export information to ASCII files. For example, you can use Link when exporting to ADP pay services or the Sage Accpac Payroll Module. OrgPlus -- Automate the creation of complex organizational charts with this module. You can generate hyperlinked charts, perform what-if analyses, and publish charts to the Web.

Hide Employee SSN

Here's a way to better safeguard the sensitive employee data you hold. You can configure Sage Accpac HRMS to allow the employees' social security numbers to be masked (not displayed). This supports the privacy laws in some states that do not allow the display of more than four sequential digits of an SSN on any output documentation. A field title SSN Masking Format is available on the Enterprise Setup page. You may select to mask the entire number, show the entire number, or show only the last four digits of the number. Most reports and forms honor this masking, and of course government documents such as the W-2 and 1099 will show the complete number.

The Project And Job Costing Module

he Sage Accpac ERP Project and Job Costing module is designed to meet the needs of construction and job service companies as well as professional service firms requiring a time-and-material system. Here's a high-level look at this powerful module.

Learn More Estimate Accurately

Accurate estimates set the stage for successful projects. The Project and Job Costing module supports accurate estimating by allowing you to specify the quantity/hours, unit cost, and billing rate for each staff member, material, subcontractor, equipment, miscellaneous item, and overhead expense allocated to the project. You can allow the software to automatically calculate cost and revenue estimates per the cost categories you've established, or explicitly define the cost and revenue estimates for each project category. The Project and Job Costing module makes estimating, tracking, costing, and billing projects easy and manageable. Give us a call with your questions.

Organization

The basis of the Project and Job Costing module is a Contract. A Contract can consist of multiple Projects, and in turn a Project can reference multiple Categories. While revenue is recognized at the project level, costs are accumulated and recognized at the category level. Estimates also are established at the category level, enabling you to effectively report upon actual-to-estimated costs. You likely will have several categories set up for each project and assign each category to a particular cost type, such as Labor, Equipment, Overhead, or Subcontractor. Each project will reference its own Project Type, such as Cost Plus, Fixed Price, or Time and Materials, as well as an Accounting Method, such as Completed Project, Total Cost Percentage Complete, Billings and Costs, and several others.

Timely Billing

Flexible and powerful billing features ensure that you get accurate, timely invoices in your customers' hands. A pre-billing, modifiable worksheet generated by cut-off date or fiscal period helps you plan for the invoicing process. The software will automatically create the customer's invoice based on the transactions that are due to be billed. You can then review and make necessary changes before updating to the Accounts Receivable module.

Accumulate Transactions

The Project and Job Costing module accumulates, organizes, and tracks the various transactions of a project. Transactions are posted from within the module itself and from subsidiary modules such as Accounts Payable. Transactions include labor hours, inventory/
