John G. Grimes

The John G. Grimes LLC was established 13 July 2009 to offer his extensive knowledge and strategic planning/analysis in national, homeland, and international security matters relating to executive leadership, technical, operational and policy development for telecommunications, information and cyber technology and command, control and intelligence systems. Government Executive Experience Mr. Grimes was nominated by President Bush on June 17, 2005 and sworn in as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Networks and Information Integration (ASD NII) / Department of Defense Chief Information Officer (CIO) on November 14, 2005 and served in this position until 30 April 2009. His public service also included five years on the White House National Security Council Staff as Director for National Security Telecommunications Policy, Director of Defense Command, Control and communications Programs, and Senior Director White House Situation Support Staff from 1984 to 1990. Mr. Grimes served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Defense-wide Command, Control and Communications and was the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Counterintelligence and Security Countermeasures from 1990 to 1994. He held senior leadership positions with the National Communications System (1981 ­ 1984), Defense Communications Agency (predecessor to DISA 1989), and various U.S. Army Communications organizations (1960 - 1981) following his military service in the U.S. Air Force (1956 ­ 1960). Corporate Experience From 1994 to 2005 served as Vice President of Raytheon's Intelligence and Information Systems, Washington Operations, which focused on DoD network/systems analysis and nuclear command and control systems.
