Alberta

British Columbia

The web site below provides an extensive list of firms in BC that state they provide WHMIS training and education. The term education in this list is intended to refer to education in how WHMIS works and/or hazards of controlled products. The Automotive Retailers Association offers the Workers' Compensation Board's own Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems Course (WHMIS) at their Training Centre as a one evening course. The price is $50.00 per person for members, and $60 for non-members. The ARA/WCB WHMIS Course is recognized by ICBC as 4 hours of technical training for c.a.r.Shop Accreditation purposes. http://www.ara.bc.ca/Whimis.shtml

Manitoba

Newfoundland

New Brunswick

WHSCC (Workplace Health, Safety, and Compensation Commission of New Brunswick) is dedicated to the promotion of a safe and healthy work environment. Nova Scotia

Introduction To WHMIS, OH&S And Shop Safety This generic introductory course provides basic knowledge in WHMIS, OH&S and shop safety for the workplace and is considered to be the basis from which more specific training can be given. Persons employed in the collision repair industry in Nova Scotia are required to have successfully completed a WHMIS course. Ontario

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training is mandatory for collision repair and auto refinish shops. This classroom-based course consists of a Video, Student workbook, and Post test package. Saskatchewan

Agencies providing WHMIS train-the-trainer programs that can equip employers to develop and deliver in-house programs are included in this site. http://www.worksafesask.ca/external/www.labour.gov.sk.ca/safety/WHMIS/training_req uirements.htm The Saskatchewan Association of Automotive Repairers (SAAR) is the industry association which represents the industry to government and the public, and assists the industry in obtaining training (eg. Computer based WHMIS training courses There are a number of organizations across Canada that provides WHMIS training on line via the Internet, or through computer programs. This type of training may be appropriate for organizations with both office or field staff, and the advantages include minimal travel costs and course scheduling flexibility. Prices for the courses vary, and in some cases group rates are available. Free course assessments can be arranged. Some organizations provide employee completion certificates, employee record keeping, on going support programs, and course customization, for an additional fee. 1.
