Flores-Costilla

Veronica Yvette Costilla, daughter of Santos Costilla and the late Adriana Costilla, was given in marriage to Joe Flores, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jose Flores Sr. on July 1, 2000, at First Assembly of God Church. The double-ring ceremony was officiated by pastor Ken Robison. After a honeymoon trip to Cancun, the couple is now residing in Laredo.

Garza-Janecek

Mr. and Mrs. Francisco B. Garza announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Carmen Christina Garza, to Jason "Jay" Lyle Janecek, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Janecek of Murphy, Texas. Carmen Christina graduated from United High School in 1991 and Texas A&M International University with a bachelor of business administration degree in management. She will receive her master's degree in August 2000 in strategic leadership at Amber University. Jay, a Plano High School graduate, is self-employed and is owner of Janecek Performance. The couple plans an Oct. 7, 2000 wedding at San Agustin Catholic Church. A reception will follow at the Majesty.

Rodriguez-Herrera

Frances Rodriguez, daughter of Gilberto Rodriguez and Claudia Galaviz, is engaged to marry Hector Hugo Herrera, son of Juan Antonio Herrera and Maria P. Hernandez de Herrera. The wedding will take place Saturday, July 29, at Catedral del Espiritu Santo in Nuevo Laredo. A reception will follow at Salon de Recepciones Ricardo's. Frances graduated from Martin High School and attends Laredo Community College. She is employed at International Bank of Commerce at Mall Del Norte. Hector Hugo is a graduate of Cigarroa High School and is employed at Burlington Coat Factory. He is currently attending Laredo Community College.

Gonzalez-Villarreal vows solemnized

Griselda Marissa Villarreal and Alejandro Gonzalez Jr. were united in marriage Saturday, June 17, at San Agustin Catholic Church. Rev. Father Frank Stodola officiated at the double-ring ceremony and nuptial Mass. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cristobal J. Villarreal Jr. Her father gave her in marriage. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alejandro Gonzalez. Maid of honor was Gloria Clarissa Villarreal. Bridesmaids were Laura Ileana Garza-Salinas, Cristina Isabel Martinez and Celina Raquel Martinez. Flower girls were Amanda Gonzalez, Krystal Gonzalez and Kassandra Gonzalez. Ring bearer was Aaron Gonzalez. Best man was Antonio Gonzalez. Groomsmen were Juan Alberto Salinas, Felipe Alfonso Martinez Jr. and Aldo Martinez. Lector reader was Maribel Gonzalez, groom's sister, and offerings were given by Mr. and Mrs. Felipe A. Martinez. Wedding attendants were arras, Mr. and Mrs. Rodolfo Ballesteros; lazo, Mr. and Mrs. Carlos H. Maldonado; and cojines, Mr. and Mrs. Juan Jose Maldonado. A dinner and dance reception was celebrated at the Executive Club. After a honeymoon trip on a Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas, the couple is now residing in Laredo.

MANUEL J. MACIEL GRACE CHRISTINE MENDIOLA

Grace Christine Mendiola, daughter of Esteban Mendiola and Graciela Ramirez Mendiola of Laredo, is engaged to marry Manuel J. Maciel, son of Manuel III and Elia L. Maciel of Laredo. The couple will exchange wedding vows on Dec. 2, 2000 at Blessed Sacrament Church. A dinner and dance reception will follow at the Majesty. Grace is currently a senior at Texas A&M International University pursuing a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice with a minor in psychology. She is presently employed by Texas A&M International University. Manuel received his bachelor of science in criminal justice from Texas A&M International University in 1997. He is presently employed as a police officer with the Laredo Police Department.

Couple enjoys honeymoon shower

Robert L. Cerna and Nissa Roselle Payne were honored with a honeymoon shower at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Larry E. Payne. The shower was hosted by Dan and Tessa Ramos, Oralia and Juan Jaso and Cynthia and Juan Collazo. The couple wed on July 15.

Wolfe-Tatangelo

Laura Tatangelo and Jonathan Wolfe were married Saturday, July 8, 2000 at the Wedding Chapel in Trophy Club, Texas. A reception followed at the Trophy Club Country Club. Laura is the daughter of Darla Evans of Trophy Club and Robert Tatangelo of Grapevine. She is the granddaughter of Aldo and Alice Tatangelo of Laredo and Sunny Patton of Trophy Club. She graduated from Norwest High School in 1998 and is continuing an education in marketing with a minor in finance at Tarleton State University. Jonathan is the son of Wesley and Arlene Wolfe of Newark and grandson of Herman and Nina Wolfe of Newark and Marie Ashmore of Newark. Jonathan graduated from Northwest High School in 1998 and is majoring in animal science with an emphasis in Wildlife Management at Tarleton State University. The couple went a one-week honeymoon to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and then returned to Stephenville, Texas where the groom is employed by El Rancho Verde.

Rodriguez-Flores

Jennifer Rachel Rodriguez of Austin, daughter of Virginia Killum Covington of Huntsville, Texas and Rodrigo Rodriguez Jr. of La Feria, Texas, is engaged to marry Alejandro Javier Flores, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill and Vadelia Ruiz Perry, and Mr. and Mrs. Hector and Stella Flores of Austin. Jennifer's maternal grandmother is Mrs. Katheryn Killum, and the late Thomas Killum of Lufkin, Texas. Her paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Rodrigo Rodriguez Sr. of La Feria, Texas. Alex's maternal grandparents are Mrs. H. Ruiz of Laredo and the late Augusto Ruiz. His paternal grandparents are Rafael and Lamar Flores of Brownsville. The engaged couple both graduated from Bowie High School in Austin and attended Austin Community College. Jennifer is also currently working in Austin. Alex is currently employed as a sales representative at an Austin retail store. The couple plans a July 2000 wedding at St. Ignatius Martyr Church in Austin. A reception will follow immediately after the religious ceremony at Saengerrunde Hall in Austin.

Bridal shower

Maria Catalina Cortez was honored with a bridal shower at the Sirloin Stockade on June 27. Her two daughters, Sandra C. Jimenez and Aurora C. Mitchell, hosted the social. Guests enjoyed games and were presented with beautiful scented candles. The centerpiece of a Barbie bride was made by daughter, Sandra C. Jimenez, and the corsage by her daughter, Aurora C. Mitchell.

MELISSA ADRIANA CARDENAS Melissa Adriana Cardenas, daughter of Francisca Adriana and Gilberto Cardenas, was honored on her 15th birthday on July 7. She received her blessing at San Vincent de Paul Church. A reception followed at the Laredo Firefighter's Union Hall. Reese Martinez, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Martinez, escorted Melissa. Melissa is a sophomore at Cigarroa High School.

Jesus and Ileana Gutierrez announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of their daughter, Sandra Gutierrez, to Fernando Rubio Jr., son of Fernando and Linda Rubio. Sandra and Fernando Jr. are United South High School graduates. The couple will exchange wedding vows on Aug. 5, 2000 at San Agustin Catholic Church. A dinner reception will follow at the Majesty.
