ne of the most boring rides in the country is from the los Angeles area to Phoenix, AZ. There's nothing but blistering high-desert heat in the summer and cold winds during the winter. The scenery is nothing much to look at either, 400 miles of boredom. Jesse Mercado of Woodland Hills, CA had to make that trip on his '06 street glide in order to find the right builder to customize his dream bike. Jesse chose to go with Paul Yaffe's Bagger Nation, and he couldn't be happier with his choice. The 96" motor has been upgraded with Thunderheader exhaust, a screamin' eagle race Tuner and a Bagger Nation air cleaner. The Bagger Nation crew stretched the frame by an inch. They also added an extra seven degrees of rake to the frame's neck and another seven degrees to the triple trees. That extra 14º of rake is there to accommodate the 23" 80-spoke ride Wright wheel that is wrapped in a Metzeler tire. In the rear is an 18 x 4.25" 80-spoke

ride Wright wheel that is also equipped with Metzeler rubber. Bagger Nation Monkey Bars sit behind a Bagger Nation fairing that is equipped with Dakota Digital gauges. The gas tank was stretched in-house by the Bagger Nation crew. In fact, just about every aftermarket part on Jesse's Bagger is from Bagger Nation; the stretched saddlebags, custom seat, foot controls, Frenched license plate mount, stereo system and leD strips molded into the saddlebags. There are only a handful of Bagger customizers who can boast such an extensive line of Bagger parts. Two of them are in Phoenix, and one of them is in south Dakota. Paul's number-one painter, gary Crisp, applied the gloss black paint. The ride across the desert to deliver his Bagger to Phoenix may have been miserable, but Jesse couldn't stop smiling on the return trip; riding his customized Black Bagger Nation Bagger!
