For Immediate Release:

Charley Harper An Illustrated Life by Todd Oldham Renowned designer Todd Oldham has rediscovered an American treasure: artist Charley Harper. While rummaging through a thrift store in 2001, Todd came across a series of sparse, colorful and graphic illustrations that immediately resonated with him. After researching the work, he discovered they were created by the same lyrical artist who had illustrated his beloved childhood book, The Giant Golden Book of Biology. In the years that followed, Todd collaborated closely with Charley to create this definitive retrospective of Harper's life's work. AMMO Books proudly presents Charley Harper- An Illustrated Life, a stunning monograph of an artist whose minimalist approach to illustration has had tremendous influence on designers and artists over the course of his sixdecade career. Beautifully designed, edited and introduced by Todd Oldham, this large format, impressive title includes an insightful interview with Harper, offering rare insight into the mind of a brilliant, yet modest artist.

Charley Harper - An Illustrated Life showcases Charley's delightful and often humorous illustrations of nature, animals, insects and people alike. Gathered together for the first time are the illustrations that graced the pages of the Ford Times magazines from 1950-1975, as well as several 1960's books such as The Giant Golden Book of Biology, Betty Crocker's Dinner for Two, and The Animal Kingdom. His well loved book Birds and Words, first published in 1974, is considered a classic.

Celebrating this singular talent, AMMO Books is thrilled to offer Charley Harper- An Illustrated Life. In addition to the trade version of the book, AMMO Books is making available four limited edition versions, signed by Todd and Charley, each with a different silkscreen print signed by the artist.
