ANNOUNCEMENT

DECEMBER 2004 16-19. An International Conference on History and Heritage of Mathematical Sciences will be held at Department of Mathematics, Govt. Model Autonomous Holkar Science College, Indore 452 017, M.P., India. ORGANIZERS: The Indian Society for History of Mathematics; Govt. Model Autonomous Holkar Science College, Indore; Kundakunda Jnanapitha, Indore and other institutions. FOCUS: The conference will cover all aspects of the History of Mathematical Sciences including Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research and Computer Science. In particular the conference will focus on the following areas:

1. General Histories, Source Books and Biographies of Mathematicians 2. Mathematics and indigenous Cultures of the World 3. Ancient Indian Mathematics 4. Jaina Mathematics 5. The Origin of Mathematics 6. Mathematics in 15th to 18th Centuries, Renaissance 7. 19th and 20th Centuries Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences 8. History of Mathematics as a subject in Educational Curricula 9. Future Prospects

The academic sessions will consist of invited plenary talks and contributed paper presentations. CALL FOR PAPERS: Papers covering topics pertaining to the above areas are invited for the conference. The authors are requested to submit the full version of their papers in the publishable form latest by October 1, 2004 along with the abstract. The Proceedings of the conference will be published.

LOCAL HOSPITALITY: Registered

participants will be provided with free Conference Kit, Lunches, and tea/coffee at the conference venue during the conference days. Shared accommodation for the outstation participants will be arranged in the University/Institutional guest-houses. Free local transport between the venue and the assigned guest-house shall be provided. Those interested in accommodation in city hotels on payment may request for the same . Cultural programs and sight seeing tours for the participants could be arranged to nearby tourist places and historical monuments.

TRAVEL: Participants should arrange for travel from their own resources. However, depending upon the funds, the organizing committee may reimburse travel expenses for a limited number of participants from India.

REGISTRATION FEE: The Registration fee of US $200 for foreign participants and Rs.500 for participants from India is payable latest by 30th September 2004. All payments should be made either by a local Cheque or a Demand Draft drawn in favour of ICHHMS2004, Indore and payable at Indore, M.P.
