Agenda and Meeting Summary for May 1, 2010 St. Brigid Catholic Church 10AM-12Noon

Prayer: Prayer was led by Robin Johnson Introductions: Meeting was attended by Regina Duffield , Connie Grubbs, Marie Swope, Elise Gorski, Ruth Jones, Robin Johnson, Susan Dorner, Eileen Fagan, Kim Jelks, and JoAnn Radamacher Celebrations: Regina Duffield, Member of Diaconate Advisory Board (3 year term) Representing the Wives and Families Group Connie Grubbs, Teacher of the Year for her school in Cobb County!!! Marie Swope, Celebrate life as an organ donor (sharing story) Two new Steering Committee Members this meeting: Ruth Jones (Wife of Deacon Mike Jones Elise Gorski (Wife of Deacon Paul Gorski) Calendar and Events: Remember to read The Beacon every month online Wives should read The Beacon on the Diaconate Website Recommitment Mass last weekend at the Cathedral 78/235 Eucharistic Congress June 4th and 5th...Volunteer online Deacons' Wives and Family Website: Will go "live" as a link from the Diaconate Website the week of June 14th. Deacons & Wives Annual Retreat: October 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at Simpsonwood Retreat Center Deacon Bill Ditewig, Retreat Master, Head of Theology at St. Leo's Organization through Deaneries Data Base: Ongoing Process. Make sure you contact your deanery members with Summary of this meeting Steering Committee: Members send meeting summaries and contact wives 15 newly ordained deacons (approximately same number next year) Deacon Personnel Board Focus: Assessment of needs in the parish Analysis of data * Newly ordained deacons: 4 years in home parish/may be reassigned, based on needs Discussion about Committees Descriptions Aspirancy Year: Formal year of discernment (after everything submitted0 Wives meet monthly (3rd Saturday.once/month) Committee to be formed to meet with wives of men in formation at St. Stephens Center on regular basis.

Spiritual Direction is provided within the Archdiocese. Those already involved with the Deacons' Wives and Families include: Marian Monahan (Wife of Deacon Bill Monahan) Ruth Jones (Wife of Deacon Mike Jones) Regina Kay (Who has served as a consultant to our steering committee since it began) Terms of Steering Committee Members: 1 year or 2 years The process for transition of steering committee member will be discussed at the July meeting. The goal for overlapping members is to maintain continuity and consistency in the initiatives established and processes put in place. Propose calendar: Dates will be confirmed at the July 24th meeting July 24th is our next Steering Committee meeting The Steering Committee meets quarterly: October, January, April, and July
