Lions Club donates art proceeds to Multi-Service

Boyertown Area Multi-Service Inc. serves the community in a variety of ways and now needs the community's support to build a larger facility. The Lions Club of Boyertown is doing its part by contributing the proceeds from the sale of the prints of David Larson's "Boyertown Autumn" to the Multi-Service's capital campaign. On Jan. 13, the Lions Club held a program to generate awareness of the services provided by MultiService and its need for a larger facility. Multi-Service supports the community by providing: Meals on Wheels, the Center at Spring Street (formerly known as the Senior Center) and its activities, volunteer transportation to and from medical appointments, energy assistance programs and a community food program, the Food Pantry. Multi-Service also partners with agencies such as: Maternal & Family Health services to provide a Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition Center; Berks Juvenile Probation to provide a neu-

tral meeting place with families that need mediation or counseling; the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation; the Berks County Intermediate Unit; the Berks Department of Public Assistance; Pennsylvania Counseling Service; GPU Energy and a psychologist. Last year, the Lions Club commissioned Boyertown artist, David Larson, to create a watercolor painting of a local scene, as a companion piece to his 1985 watercolor painting, "A Special Kind of Place," which was recreated as a wall mural at 30 S. Reading Ave., Boyertown. His 2004 painting, "Boyertown Autumn," depicts the corner of the first block of East Philadelphia Avenue including The Bashful Barn , Twin Turrets, and Body-Borneman Insurance buildings. The prints can be purchased at: Gracefully Framed, 112 E. Phila. Ave., Boyertown; Ehst Custom Kitchens, 830 Sweinhart Rd., Boyertown; Dr. James Tribbett, 704 E. Phila. Ave., Boyertown; MultiService at 301 W. Spring St., Boyertown;or by contacting Trish Hartline at 610-370-4385.
