Product properties

Appearance Yellowish, slightly cloudy and viscous liquid Example of use Upon extended storage of concentrated aqueous of C12-C14 alkyl polyglyco-sides (e.g., GLUCOPON 600 types) below 30 °C, crystallisation may occur. For this reason these alkyl polyglycosides are stored at higher temperatures or are warmed up prior to processing. GLUCOPON 650 EC exhibits an improved low temperature behaviour. Due to the content of lower alkyl chain glycosides, GLUCOPON 650 EC can be stored and processed at lower temperature levels (> 5°C). GLUCOPON 650 EC can be easily formulated because it does not exhibit a gel phase upon dilution. By reducing the pH value, e.g., with citric acid to below 8.5 the cloudyness being specific for the product disappears thus also enabling the formulation of clear products. Aqueous solutions of GLUCOPON 650 EC can not be thickened by addition of NaCl. In combination with anionic surfactants (e.g., fatty alcohol ether-sulpha-te/GLUCOPON 650 EC combinations) the viscosity can be improved by electrolyte addition. GLUCOPON 650 EC provides excellent dishwashing performance especially in combination with anionic and amphoteric surfactants. This product is, therefore, well suited for the manufacture of manual

dishwashing agents. In manual dishwashing formulations GLUCOPON 650 EC exhibits an equivalent performance to GLUCOPON 600 CS UP coupled with the benefit of improved low temperature behaviour. Additionally GLUCOPON 650 EC provides good detergent performance when used for surfactant systems in a wide variety of household and institutional cleaning products, e.g., hard surface cleaners and liquid laundry detergents. GLUCOPON 650 EC exhibits an excellent skin compatibility (not classified "irritating to skin"). By substituting a portion of generally more irrititating anionicsurfactants with GLUCOPON 650 EC, a formulation with improved mildness and excellent cleaning performance will be obtained.GLUCOPON 650 EC contains no preservatives. Below pH 11.5 GLUCOPON 650 EC is no longer sufficiently protected against microbial contamination, that means the end formulation has to be preservedin a suitable way. GLUCOPON 650 EC exhibits a very low dermal irritation and is classified as "non irritating to skin" (no R 38-phrase) and due to the EEC-directive for prepa-rations this product is especially suitable for concentrated formulations. In comparison to the GLUCOPON 600 types GLUCOPON 650 EC exhibits a better low temperature behaviour and aqueous solubility properties.
