ADOPTS CODE OF CONDUCT FOR RESPONSIBLE GAMING

At the European Casino Association's (ECA) Annual General Meeting, which was held last 25 January in London, members of the ECA confirmed their commitment to responsible gaming. Members highlighted their interest in and commitment to the subject matter through the adoption of the ECA's Code of Conduct for Responsible Gaming. The Code, which was developed drawing on the expertise and experience of ECA members, covers issues such as advertising and marketing, employee training, prevention of underage gambling

and self exclusion schemes. The ECA considers it a key objective that these different issues are all addressed in its Code making it a leading example in the industry. This leadership is highlighted by the support the Board of the European Association for the Study of Gambling (EASG) is giving to the Code. elected as Chairman and Anders Galfvensjö, CEO of Casino Cosmopol AB, as Vice Chairman. The European Casino market has seen moderate growth during 2005 with new facilities opening throughout Europe. Preliminary figures indicate a variation in growth between different countries. "The ECA represents the interests of over 800 Casinos and approximately 62,000 employees across Europe. The main purpose and objective of the association is to address and promote issues related to Casinos and/or Casino operations and in doing so to provide a focal point on Casino matters for Casino operators as well as for EU and national policy makers and stakeholders. To this end, the ECA aims to serve as a network for information; information that shall be used to communicate and work with the EU institutions

The ECA was officially established in 2005 as a European non-profit organisation in Brussels. ECA membership continues to increase with Greece and Lithuania formally joining the association at this meeting which brings the current membership to a total of 20. The ECA now includes members from the majority of the EU's Member States (Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and the UK) and from Switzerland.
