Collin County Republican Review

Jim Bortzfield President Greetings fellow Republicans, What a great year for the CCRMC. Great speakers. Great events. A recap.

January--Mabrie Jackson of the NT Commission February--Gary Thomas, President of DART March--Scott O'Grady (current candidate for SD8) April--Kelly Stone, CC Fusion Center May--Jeff McKissack, Defense by Design June--Russell Verney, North Texas Crime Commission July--Plano 4th Parade Theme Award August--Tom Leppert, candidate for U.S. Senate September--Sharon Rowe, CC Elections October--Tincy Miller, SBOE candidate November--Representative Jerry Madden What's on tap for next year? With the election cycle in full swing, I expect a full slate of candidate forums with contested offices in most races (see latest information later in the newsletter). A great Board of Directors with hold overs and added newbies with energy and sleeves rolled up for a good year. Why join CCRMC? We are truly a grassroots organization providing attendees the opportunity to get involved and make something happen by meeting elected officials and helping with their campaign. Non-members come to meetings and can receive the newsletter. So why join? Your nominal donation helps fund refreshments at meetings, flags that support the GOP in the 4th parade and facilities fees for candidate forums. And this year, member candidates can attach a full page pdf each month to our newsletter to get the message out to our vast mailing list! Privileges of membership but no negative information will be accepted. See you Thursday night. Don't forget the food pantry! Jim

Scatter Shoot'in with Jason Poe--VP Newsletter

This is my last issue as VP of Newsletter as my term has expired. That being said, I will be passing the torch to the capable hands of Dalayr Hight. It's been fun and I learned that a month goes by very quickly. I wish Dalayr all the best. While we have lost GOP Presidential hopeful Herman Cain, http://www.suntimes.com/news/ nation/9220234-418/herman-cain-suspends-presidential-campaign.html Obama says it does not matter anyway. http://hotair.com/archives/2011/12/11/obama-it-doesnt-matter-who-the-gop-nominates/ I think this piece in response to Obama's recent Kansas speech by Michael Barone gives us some hope that he is correct. http://campaign2012.washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/beltway-confidential/obamas-thing-gruelosawatomie/247271

You would think that this climate change thing would be dead and gone after all of the news about how the books were cooked, but it will not die. This piece I think gets to the point that it was never about the environment anyway. http://

Last week House Republicans introduced legislation to extend the FICA tax holiday and John Hinderaker give it the thumbs up. http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2011/12/

Exactly what is Crony Capitalism? http://www.realclearmarkets.com/articles/2011/12/12/ exactly_what_is_crony_capitalism_anyway_99412.html I believe that it looks something like this. http:// www.foxbusiness.com/markets/2011/09/28/government-bank-financing-more-solyndras/ Here is a little something from shake down street as well. http://www.bostonherald.com/news/opinion/editorials/

This last piece will be of interest to those of us wanting to help candidates at the grass roots level. http://pjmedia.com/richardfernandez/2011/11/29/now-for-the-hard-part-money-and-messaging/ Merry Christmas and I look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday.

The deadline for filing was stated as Friday, December 15, 2011 by the Texas Secretary of State. With the redistricting appeal accepted by the U.S. Supreme Court with a hearing date of January 9, 2012, the filing period is now likely to change and the primary election originally scheduled for March 6, 2012 is now doubtful. There could be two primaries plus the potential for two different run-off dates. History in the making.
