Pediatric Challenges: New Approaches to Treatment and Prevention

These evening CME activities are offered several times a year for primary care providers with a focus on new therapies and prevention strategies for common health problems in children and adolescents. These events, held in various metro area locations, begin with dinner followed by a 60 minute presentation and a panel Q and A session. (CME credit)

Perinatal Continuing Education Program (PCEP)

PCEP utilizes self-instruction materials developed by the University of Virginia and now published by the American Academy of Pediatrics. PCEP provides obstetrical, neonatal, transport, and follow-up information and skills. The program is offered to hospitals by contract and requires physician, nursing and administrative commitment for a nine-to-ten month period. Updates for previous PCEP participants are offered three years following the initial program. (CME credit through the UVA School of Medicine and CNE credit)

Good Grief at Noon (3rd Tuesday, 12:00-1:00 p.m.)

These multidisciplinary monthly sessions focus on various bereavement-related topics. Open to all staff. (no CE credit)

Nursing Grand Rounds

(4th Wednesday, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) These monthly one hour scholarly presentations present current nursing research as well as topics related to clinical practice, research, education and patient/family values and preferences. (CNE credit)

Eliza Fernie Critical Care Symposium

January 21-22, 2010 · Aurora, CO

Annual Conference on Language and Learning Developmental Speech Disorders: A Neurological Perspective

April 30, 2010 · Aurora, CO

This conference is designed for speech-language pathologists, learning specialists, psychologists, and teachers. Topics focus on the neurological perspective of developmental speech disorders, describing how this viewpoint informs perspectives on the nature of development, speech disorders and speech treatment. An approach to the treatment of toddlers and school-aged students, as well as resources for use with school-aged students and second language learners, will be addressed. Dr. Kenneth Bleile from the University of Northern Iowa is the guest speaker. (ASHA credit)

Emergency Medical Services Conference

January 28-30, 2010 · Aurora, CO

This conference is specifically for EMS providers of all levels (EMT-B, EMT-I, EMT-P and CCEMT-P). The two-day conference, with optional PALS renewal, will provide attendees continuing education hours in Pediatrics/Obstetrics to satisfy national registry and state of Colorado recertification requirements. 2nd Basic Teaching Course and Workshop on Acute Pediatric Cardiac Care

The purpose of this course is to share evidenced-based clinical care related to acutely-ill pediatric cardiac patients. Interactive workshops, using an infant simulator, incorporate hemodynamic scenarios that focus on airway and arrhythmia management. (CME and CNE credit)

Reach the Peak 3rd Annual Asthma Symposium (previously AE-C Prep Course)

April 12-13, 2010 · Aurora, CO

Reach the Peak is facilitated by leading experts in their field for each topic. This two-day comprehensive program will prepare participants to improve asthma care in their practice while equipping them to successfully complete the National Asthma Educator Certification Board (NAECB) Asthma Educator-Certified (AE-C) exam. The program includes a combination of lecture, case scenarios, hands-on device technique and spirometry, and networking and small group strategizing for pediatric and adult practice improvement. 6th International Symposium on the Pediatric Airway

June 4-6, 2010 · Aurora, CO

Pediatric airway management is a vital component of safe anesthesia care, especially those with difficult airways, and in the management of critically ill children. In no other population is the successful establishment of adequate oxygenation and ventilation so fraught with potential complications and so important. This conference will focus on new developments, new techniques and equipment, as well as review existing knowledge. Healthcare providers from a variety of backgrounds (anesthesia, emergency medicine, ENT, critical care) will benefit from this knowledge. (CME credit)

Children's Orthopaedic Day
