BENEFIT CONCERT St. Joseph Center of Arkansas presents a Benefit Concert to help restore the former St. Joseph Orphanage in North Little Rock. ARmusica will perform a wonderful evening of beautiful music featuring pianist, Julie Cheek and principal members of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. The concert will be held on Tuesday, May 21 at Trinity United Methodist Church; 1101 North Mississippi and will begin at 7:00 p.m. Works by Saint-Saens and Brahms will be performed. MAGNIFICAT MINISTRY FOR WOMEN Magnificat Ministry for Women ­ Arkansas now has another chapter of Magnificat. Magnificat is an international ministry to Catholic women inspired by the friendship between Mary and Elizabeth in which they found a common love of God and strength in telling their stories of His wonders in their lives and their gratitude. Catholic Chari es Summer Ins tute (C²SI)

The Catholic Chari es Summer Ins tute (C²SI) will be held over the dates of July 14-19 at St. John's Catholic Center in Li le Rock. The Ins tute is intended to educate adults and high school youth about the social issues of our diocese. The program is designed to make youth aware of the needs in their communi es and to assist them in developing their social consciences. It strives to build leaders of our Church who will become part of a Catholic solu on to improve the future of their communi es and our diocese. Over these days, par cipants will be involved in classroom interac ve learning regarding poverty, homelessness, the elderly, refugees, human trafficking, the protec on of the unborn and care for God's crea on. Included in the weekly schedule are hands-on community service opportuni es from ministering to the homeless on the street, to caring for the elderly, to mee ng the vic ms of exile. Las Apariencias Engañan

En una prestigiosa Universidad de Sudamérica, el primer día de clases, se encontraba en la biblioteca un hombre vestido de overol, de esos que usan los trabajadores de las fabricas, y calzaba sandalias en un día muy frio. En sus manos llevaba varios libros. Quien es ese hombre? Era la pregunta general.--Es un profesor de Física, y viene de Norteamérica--fue la respuesta, con la siguiente historia: Un día, este hombre llego hasta la facultad de Física, vestido del modo tan particular en que le gustaba vestir. Pidió, en un español poco fluido, una entrevista con el decano. Le indicaron que estaba en una reunión con un grupo de docentes. El hombre insistió en verlo. La secretaria lo busco, y al rato salió el decano a verlo. Luego de saludarlo. El hombre le dijo: - Vengo a pedir trabajo como docente de física. El decano miro su apariencia de arriara abajo; su aspecto era la antítesis de un profesor universitario. De pronto, el decano dibujo una leve sonrisa en su rostro, y lo invito a que lo acompañara. Entraron en una sala, donde había un media docena de docentes universitarios. El decano le dijo: hace poco recibimos este libro como texto guía. Estamos aquí, intentando solucionar unos problemas de Física. Si usted es capaz de resolverlos, lo contrato como docente. El hombre tomo el texto, se dirigió a una pizarra, y tranquilamente comenzó a resolver uno a uno los problemas que le había indicado. Los docentes cambiaron poco a poco la sonrisa de burla que tenían en sus rostros, por una cara de sombro. Cuando termino, de asombro. Cuando termino, el decano, atónito, le dijo casi tartamudeando: - Como pudo hacerlo? Hemos estado aquí varios días sin poder resolver estos teoremas! Es por eso que las palabra de Dios tienen tanto valor: &quot;no mires a su permanecer ni a lado grande de su estatura, porque yo lo desecho: porque Dios no mira lo que mira el hombre pues le hombre mira lo que esta delante de sus ojos. Pero Dios mira el corazón&quot;. (1 Samuel 16,7). Ora a Dios, para que te de la Sabiduría de no juzgar a las personas por aspectos externos, sino por los principios que tienen.
