OYAA Recreational Soccer Program

The OYAA Recreational Soccer Program is the foundation for all OYAA Soccer Programs. Children are introduced to the game of soccer in a fun, safe and positive environment. How to Sign up? Parents register their child using the OYAA E-Registration system. http://www.oyaa.org/oyaaregistration.asp How is my child assigned to a Team? Information collected during the registration process helps the administrative staff assign players to teams (to the best of our ability) based on geographical location. For example, parents are asked to include the grade and elementary school their child will attend in the Fall. Parents also have the ability to request a specific coach and/or teammate(s). This information helps us to place players on teams. It does NOT guarantee the player/coach requests will be honored. What Age Group is my Child in? Children are assigned to age group/gender specific divisions based on their date-of-birth. Age groups are determined by the US Youth Socer Association. For example, a child who turns 7 years old after August 1st is considered to be in the U7 age group. For a complete list of age groups and corresponding birth date/year ranges go to: http://www.osysa.com/Registration/agechart.htm How Much Does OYAA rec soccer cost? Frequently Asked Questions - Tryouts, teams, schedule....

Each year, Classics holds tryouts for the Premier level, professionally coached teams. The tryout schedule and notification process is governed by the local travel leagues so all clubs in the central Ohio communities are operating on a fair and common schedule.

Tryout Schedule & Age Group Guidlines

A complete tryout schedule for teams playing during the 2011-12 seasons can be found in the Resource Section of this packet. The CFC Tryout Flyer includes information regarding tryout age group guidelines, dates, times and locations.

The Tryout Process & Evaluation

·

·

·

Tryouts are held over a three day period for each age group. Each tryout session will last approximately 75-90 minutes. Players are encouraged to attend as many days as possible to allow our independent evaluators and coaching staff the opportunity to assess their skills. The more opportunities the evaluators have to see you child, the better their evaluation will be and subsequently the easier it will be to place your child on the correct team. The assessment will be on technical ability, small group and game-situation performance. For example, passing, receiving, juggling, shooting, dribbling, heading etc. They will also participate in small group activities such as 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 and/or 5v5. Finally, players are organized into teams and play in a match related environment similar to their age groups league format ( 6v6, 8v8 and/ or 11v11). The evaluation team is comprised of the Directors of Coaching, the current team's coaching staff, next year's coaching staff and independant evaluators. At the end of the third night of an age group/gender tryout, the evaluator assessments are supplemented with input from the coaching staff and the Director of Coaching. At the end of each tryout week, the evaluation team meets to review the players' evaluations and create the teams for next year. Some teams will be more competitive than others. The focus will be on the developmental needs of each player and the team's competitive level. Classics FC will begin notifying tryout participants with the results and offer roster spots at 2:00 PM on the Sunday after age group tryouts. This is a League by-law and must be followed by all clubs in central Ohio. *NEW* -- Tryout results (player number) will be posted on the Classics FC website. The Notification process will be reviewed at the parent meeting on the last night of tryouts for each age group. The posting of tryout results may be supplemented with phone calls from a member of the Classics FC staff . The goal is to expedite the notification process so children are not waiting all day to hear from a coach. Acceptance: There will be a set time limit within which to accept the position offered to their child. Families will be asked to reply via email. After the initial acceptance, the parents will recieve a confirmation email that details the next steps. The email will include instructions for confirming the roster position and paying the commitment fee. Please make sure you have provided accurate email and phone numbers during the registration process.

Can my child "play up" an age group?

US Youth Soccer defines age group criteria. A player must turn the age group "age" on or after August 1, of that year. For example, a player must turn 8 years old between August 1, 2011 and July 31, 2012 to be consider eligible for the U8 Youth Academy. A child is permitted to play "up" in age provided they meet the following requirements: (1) the player receives permission to tryout for an older age group prior to tryouts, and (2) the players also attends the tryout sessions for their own age group. Classics FC is committed to finding the appropriate level of play for a child based on their skill, athletic ability and maturity levels. Final decisions are left up to the discretion of the Directors of Coaching.
