StandardIIIC:Theapplicantmustdemonstrateknowledgeintheareasof etiologies,characteristics,anatomical/physiological,acoustic,psychological, developmental,andlinguisticandculturalcorrelatesofarticulationdisorders.Inthe areaofSwallowing,wewillbediscussingtheetiologiesandcharacteristicsoftongue thrustandthecorrespondingeffectsonarticulation.Inregardstosocialaspectsof communication,wewillbediscussinghowtoeffectivelydealwithchallenging behaviorasitrelatestoarticulationdisorders. StandardIIID:Theapplicantmustpossessknowledgeoftheprinciplesand methodsofprevention,assessment,andinterventionforpeoplewith communicationandswallowingdisorders,includingconsiderationsof anatomical/physiological,psychological,developmental,andlinguisticandcultural correlatesofthedisorders.Inthisclass,wewillfocusontheprevention,assessment andinterventioninregardstoarticulation. StandardIVG:Theapplicantforcertificationmustcompleteaprogramofstudythat includessupervisedclinicalexperiencessufficientinbreadthanddepthtoachieve thefollowingskillsoutcomes: Evaluation(Specifictoarticulation) · Conductscreeningandpreventionprocedures(includingprevention activities) · Selectandadministerappropriateevaluationprocedures,suchasbehavioral observations,nonstandardizedandstandardizedtestsandinstrumental procedures. · Adaptevaluationprocedurestomeetclient/patientneeds. · Interpret,integrate,andsynthesizeallinformationtodevelopdiagnosesand makeappropriaterecommendationsforintervention. · Completeadministrativeandreportingfunctionsnecessarytosupport evaluation. · Referclients/patientsforappropriateservices.
