Foreword

Foreword

Thomas Waldmann Managing Director Made in Germany - innovations for successful textile business On behalf of the VDMA Textile Machinery Association, I cordially invite you to the "German Technology for the Vietnamese textile industry Conference & Exhibition" taking place in Ho-Chi-Minh City on 6 and 7 April 2011. This two-day event will present machinery innovations and technology solutions comprising all fields of the textile chain. The event, dedicated to Vietnamese textile entrepreneurs and engineers, will be the only VDMA-supported conference & exhibition in 2011 before ITMA 2011 takes place in Barcelona (22 - 29 September 2011). Some of the leading German textile machinery companies will introduce their latest developments in the area of spinning, weaving, knitting, finishing and textile testing. In about 20 lectures, they inform about the inventiveness of textile machinery technology in order to achieve sustainable competitive advantages. Decision makers from the Vietnamese textile industry have the unique chance to find out about

Jennifer Höhn Head of Exhibitions and Marketing technical innovations to meet the increased request for quality products. The use of modern textile technologies is a precondition to lower production costs and to reduce energy consumption and material use. Throughout the last years, Germany has been one of the main exporters to Vietnam. From January to October 2010, German exports of textile machinery to Vietnam increased by almost 53 % to 21.4 million EUR. The Vietnamese demand for German textile technology has been particularly strong since August 2010. The conference is organised by the German Ministry of Economics and Technology. We cordially invite all interested textile manufacturers to join the event and to register now. The participation is free of charge.

Conrad Cappell Consul General of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City Germany is Vietnam`s biggest trading partner in Europe. With the bilateral trade having passed the 5 billions US $ mark in 2010 Germany`s trade with Vietnam is as big as that between France and the UK and Vietnam together. And with prospects of an GDP growth rate of 6.5 % in 2011 and 7 % in 2012 (World Bank estimates) bilateral trade and direct investment are expected to even further increase. Given that Vietnam is about to change the growth model and shift from quantitative growth to a combined quantitative-qualitative development prospects for the economic development look even brighter. Thus, wage-intensive productions will be shifted to a more and more qualitative production of high-tech products in the years to come. Textile products made in Vietnam are still the The textile symposium in April 2011 in Vietnam is a welcome event that I am convinced will make a key contribution to expanding the scope of German-Vietnamese trade relations. I wish the participants of this major event a fruitful discussion. Germany imported from Vietnam textile products in the amount of 436 million Euro in 2009. This figure clearly indicates that the textile related bilateral trade plays still a major role.

VDMA and its member companies are looking forward to meeting you for mutual and longlasting business relations. VDMA-German Engineering Federation Textile Machinery Association

KG is one of the world`s leading manufacturers of monitoring, control and automation systems for not only the textile and allied finishing industries but also the paper, foil and coating sectors. This company in Bavaria was founded in 1945 by Dr. Heinz Mahlo, and has remained up to now a family-owned concern in the global marketplace. Due to the exorbitant rising costs for raw material, energy and water as well as the high expenses for pollution control it is more important than ever to keep an eye on these issues. The aim is to work together with the customer to identify the most competitive and cost-effective production solutions. The ultimate purpose of this strategy is to maximize ROI by reducing the usage of energy, raw material and human resources while optimizing quality, equipment utilization and work flow. Whether you need process control systems, product inspection, skew correction or web guiding systems Mahlo always has the right solution. Speaker: Jackson Ye Energy accounts for the highest proportion of costs in cabling tire cord, and undoubtedly the trend toward increasing energy costs will continue. As market leader, Oerlikon Saurer, Allma Product Line, has reduced the energy balance over the machine generations by using energy-saving motors and optimized spindle geometries, and has thereby clearly countered increasing energy costs. Through close cooperation with customers, Oerlikon Saurer, Allma Product Line, understands their requirements and is able to create

The machines are adjusted to each other and present the most economical concept in the world. One single compact blow room line processes up to 1200 kg/h, two lines - supplied by one bale opener - even 2000 kg/h. Since 2007, the high production card TC 7 has also been successful in Vietnam in many installations. Vietnam attaches great importance to manmade fibre processing. That is why we have developed a special man-made fibre card for high productions, the TC 7-Splus. The first machines are already producing here.
