Pearl Sample PTO Minutes January 12, 2006

*In Attendance: Jodi Hatajik, Jenny Biche, Cathy Stephenson (3rd Gr. Rep.), Burnadette Focozio, Chris Martin (2nd Gr. Rep.) Catherine Van Pelt (1st Gr. Rep.) Missy Shurina (Kin. Rep), Kellie Baker (4th Gr. Rep.), Alicia Marsh (5th Gr. Rep.) Lizza Judd (Pre-K Rep.) Debbie Muraski , Stephanie Will, Michele Ligthbody, Cathy Timmons, Jennifer Arellano, Michelle Decker, Kristin Eakins, Darlene Queen, Gayle Dodson *Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Jenny Biche. *Treasurer's report presented. Current balance is $24,089.40. We still owe for the Fall Fundraiser in the amount of approximately $10,000. No bill has been received. *Angel Tree Update: This was the most successful year due to the many generous donations received. We were able to help more of out Pearl Sample families. Thank you notes were passed around expressing the truly heartfelt appreciation from some of the families helped this year. Only $50.00 of the budgeted $750.00 was used to purchase additional items not received. *Playground update: Playground equipment for K-2 will be installed sometime in February. Phase II for the 3-5 Playground equipment is under way. $40,000 was recently approved for donation for this equipment. Cathy Stephenson hopes to have bids by the end of January for everyone to see and vote on. She hopes to have the equipment purchased and installed before the end of the year. Plaques are being priced to recognize our very generous donators. Fundraisers: *Sweatshirt/T-shirt Sales: Student sale went well. A profit of $266.30 was made. Staff sales profited $191.11. *Studio Art Fundraiser Update: $1,409.60 profit. *Campbell's Soup Labels: We have approximately 10,000 labels from this year and another 9,000 banked. The catalog to purchase products will be distributed among the grade levels and resource teachers for suggestions on items to purchase. *Tyson: We have 250 labels worth 24 cents each. You must have 250 total to submit for payment. These will be submitted. *Safeway/Food Lion/Giant Food Cards: These cards must be registered every year for Pearl Sample to receive a percentage of the purchases made. Forms will be made available.

*Daddy/Daughter Dance will be held on February 18th at Pearl Sample form 6-8 p.m. Tickets will be prepay at $10.00 each with a maximum of $30.00 per family. Tickets will be available at the door but prepay is encouraged. Two 5 x 7 photos will be available for $6.00. Corsages may be purchased for $4.00 each. Photos and corsages are prepay only. Volunteers will be needed for set up, clean up and to help work the corsage table and refreshment tables. *Mother/Son Event is in the planning. An organizational meeting is being planned. Date to be announced. This even will be co-chaired by Michelle Decker and Kristin Eakins. No date has been set but it will be a springtime event. *Fun fair: The scheduled date is March 17th. A volunteer is needed to chair this event. If a chairperson is not found by the end of January, this event will be canceled. *Candle Fundraiser: This Fundraiser is set for February 21st-March 3rd. Candles will be sold for approximately $4.00 profit each. Candles will be sent to the school for parent pick ups and will be received in time for Easter. Proceeds will be earmarked for playground equipment. *Tiger Store Update: Dates for this upcoming event will be given to teachers and a sign up sheet will be placed in the office for teachers to sign up for a convenient time. It was requested by the volunteers to have the tokens counted and stapled in bundles of 10 prior to the Tiger Store visit. This will make this procedure run smoother and more efficiently. Tiger Store visits will be at the end of January, March, and May. *Art Room: Volunteers are desperately need daily between 1:00-2:30 p.m. Volunteers would help set up, clean up, and assist with our Kindergarten and 1st grade students. These classes are very large and have become too much for one person to manage. *Papa John's Pizza: Winner for December was Mrs. Harris' Kindergarten class. The participation in the fundraiser has been very low. If participation does not increase soon this program will be dropped. This fundraiser is scheduled for the 1st Wednesday and Thursday of each month. *Next meeting is scheduled for March 1st, 2006 Respectfully submitted by Darlene Queen
