TOBI® Podhaler® is a portable delivery system for the first dry-powder formulation of tobramycin, an inhaled antibiotic for treating chronic Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Pa) lung infections in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) TOBI® Podhaler® uses PulmoSphere® technology to produce particles that are light and porous for deep delivery into the lung Treatment is given with a portable, patient-friendly device Portable and convenient. TOBI® Podhaler® provides effective, inhaled therapy that doesn't need batteries or a power supply. Shorter treatment time. Data shows that patients using TOBI® Podhaler® completed their tobramycin treatment in five to six minutes instead of 20 minutes with the traditional ® TOBI a reduction of 72 per cent.1 Reduced risk of contamination. The dry formulation is disposable after one week's use, and there is no need to disinfect equipment between uses.

How does TOBI® Podhaler® work?

The powder is contained in a capsule which is inserted into the Podhaler® and activates it for inhalation. Inhaling through the Podhaler® makes the capsule spin rapidly as it empties, creating a fine aerosol.
