SEWING FUNDAMENTALS Louise Ransom

Whether you are just beginning to sew, have made a few things, or have been sewing for years, chances are you've never explored the basic fundamentals of sewing-the "underlining" so to speak! This class is an in-depth study of basic sewing techniques, essential notions (tools), industry terms, textile facts and sewing machine operation. You will receive a notebook complete with fabric samples and handouts to create a reference notebook that will be the basis of your sewing library. Sewing FUNdamentals will enhance your knowledge to prevent disasters or disappointments so that sewing is really FUN and is highly recommended

the techniques used to sew them. Working on samples pieces students stitch familiar fabrics such as cotton & wool and then move to unusual fabrics and weaves such as lycra, leather/vinyl, microfiber, silk, satin, chiffon, and many more. Students compile a notebook of textile and stitching samples. This class is based on Claire Shaeffer's Fabric Sewing Guide, Second Edition. Some sewing experience or " Sewing Fundamentals" is recommended before taking this class. Students should bring fabrics scissors, a 6" seam gauge, straight pins, a spool of Mettler Metrosene polyester thread and a fabric marker. Fabric, handouts, and notebooks are included in the supply fee. Kit Fee $25. 1 session. $39
