The first four issues of our newsletter, covering support and education, were such a success that we have decided to broaden it to cover all HP software services ­ you can still find all the useful and interesting information that you did before, as well as information about other services we offer. In this issue we are focusing on two key themes that are at the heart of everything that HP software support does: staying current and fostering the software community.

IT pros rate HP software support top of class

HP software support was delighted to learn that customers continue to rate our technical support above that of our competitors. In March, a report released by influential IDC analyst elaina stergiades showed that, in a survey of more than 1,000 IT professionals, HP software support came out on top of a list including Microsoft, Oracle, IBM and sAP. stergiades also drew attention to the importance of evaluating software support services before choosing applications and the vendors behind them, saying it should be a "key consideration" for mission-critical processes. HP software & solutions are always working to improve our customers' experience of dealing with us on the phone. That is why we have switched our Americas call center over to a new Interactive Voice Response (IVR), or speech recognition, system. Thanks to its intuitive menu system, the new IVR has resulted in reduced call-waiting times and better call routing. It is very simple to use. should you need to speak to us, simply dial the us and Canadian support number ­ 800633-3600 ­ as usual. Then say "support", the product name and enter your sAID. "My updates" ­ a new way for customers to get support

We have greatly improved the way all customers entitled to support can receive software product updates and obsolescence information. The new service, "My updates", has launched after a great pilot run. Test customers rated it as an improvement over the previous software update Manager (suM) ­ and over 90 percent of customers are already downloading their product updates from "My updates". This significantly exceeds the figure of around 30 percent that used the previous portal. The benefits of "My updates" include: ·Direct access to the portal from software support Online (ssO) without having to go through ITRC and from ITRC to suM. ·Faster downloads of software updates. ·A streamlined update, obsolescence and migrations notification process, as directed by you. ·Customizable and easier to administer. Start using it now You can access the new portal from the ssO site by clicking the Downloads tab. To sign up for communication around updates, obsolescence and migrations, you will need to sign up for subscriber's Choice to define which driver alerts and product information you would like to receive. For your convenience, we have already added customer profiles, so you will just have to verify your details and security settings. Please note that the default settings for updates will be via download. Farewell SUM Please note that you will no longer receive suM notifications, either by email or post. The suM portal will be completely shut down by October this year. existing pull letter requests will be fulfilled until the date specified on each letter. Important note: At this time, only HP software & solutions product updates will be available on the ssO software update Portal. All other products (i.e. ess, IPG, PsG, etc.) will use their existing usB processes.

HP Internet Services (OVIS) 6.11 JPN, 6.2 Migration to Business Availability Center (BAC) HP Internet services customers are entitled to migrate to HP Business Availability Center. This option is available until the end of support date, so make the most of this opportunity by migrating as soon as possible. We encourage you to contact your support contract administration professional to initiate the migration. Contrary to earlier communication, your support contract is not automatically updated to reflect your migration to BAC. HP ServiceCenter & HP Service Desk Migration to HP Service Manager 7.10 HP serviceCenter & HP service Desk customers are entitled to more than like-for-like functionality in HP service Manager 7.10. This option is available only till the end of support date for HP serviceCenter & HP serviceDesk. Please avail yourself of this opportunity to upgrade to HP service Manager as soon as possible. The HP service Manager 7.10 Migration Brief document provides details regarding this beneficial entitlement, upgrade factory, automated migration tools and certified partners who could assist you in your migration. Reminder for HP Software & Solutions product obsolescence & migrations announced earlier nOTe: The list below is not exhaustive and is provided only as a reminder. The end of support dates for these products are later in the year and we urge you to consider the migration options available to you if you haven't done so already. All obsolescence/migration announcements will be sent out via email through the HP Alert system. Benefits of the new alert system ·Consolidation: Receive a single email that consolidates all updates, obsolescence and migration information. ·Flexibility: Receive these alerts via email or Rss feeds. · Faster: notified quicker than postal mail. ·efficient: In the past only the contact person listed on the support contract received the postal mail announcing the obsolescence of a product. now, any number of people in your organization can receive updates regarding these announcements. It also enables you to forward obsolescence/migration-related information to other departments or end users at your location. An email was sent to all contacts listed on the support contract after adding them to the HP Alerts system. If you were listed as a contact on the support contract, you will continue to receive obsolescence/migration information regarding the products you own via the HP Alerts system. Other members in your organization can subscribe to these alerts by creating a new profile at the HP Alert system or updating their profile information if they already have one created. Please encourage other members in your organization to subscribe to these alerts to keep them abreast of the latest obsolescence/ migration information.

Coming soon: A new way to access HP software Patches

HP software is changing the customer access level to patches. The planned release of these changes is on May 15, 2010, at this time customers may access HP software patches after they enter a valid service Agreement ID (sAID) into software support Online (ssO) to access the patches. Your unique sAID also entitles you to log technical cases and obtain upgrades, and grants access to the knowledge database. If you enter an incorrect sAID, you will automatically be directed to a help page detailing contact numbers for assistance.

Changes to obsolescence/migration notification ­ via email only As part of the introduction of "My updates", our new update delivery and download portal, we have streamlined our product update, obsolescence and migration notifications through HP Alerts.
