The MilkoScan FT 120 comes in a basic configuration to which you can add exactly the optional modules you need. The system can be upgraded with more advanced modules as your needs change.

FOSS and the dairy industry For decades FOSS has helped dairies and milk testing laboratories to keep pace with their analysis demands. For instance, FOSS dedicated analytical solutions have proven significant for dairy-herd-improvement, raw milk testing, standardisation in dairy production and verification of end-product quality. Today, trends such as increasingly sophisticated consumer tastes and the relentless pressure for profit improvement make FOSS dedicated analytical solutions more relevant than ever. Investing heavily in continuous research and development, FOSS solutions make innovative use of a variety of analysis technologies to address demands crucial to the success of laboratories and dairy producers. Using approved measuring principles, FOSS dedicated analytical solutions provide convenience, speed and

labour savings, while delivering high analytical capacity and low cost per sample. Common issues such as the need for analytical results with minimal operational concerns about calibration, usability and instrument uptime are constantly kept in mind in the design of any FOSS solution. Results for key measurement parameters are delivered in a simple, reliable and timely way helping dairies to improve both quality and profit in virtually every aspect of dairy production. Solutions include compositional analysis, somatic cell count, hygienic quality of raw milk and compositional and microbiological testing of finished products such as cheese and yoghurt. Instruments are specifically de-signed for use in the laboratory, at the production line or for continuous process monitoring, for example, with some instruments available either as a laboratory model or as an at-line production model designed to withstand the production environments.

The basic configuration

The MilkoScanTM FT 120 features a flexible configuration design through the use of modules. The basic configuration can be upgraded with software and hardware modules - you only pay for what you need! The basic configuration provides: · Analysis of the main components using preselected regions of the infrared spectrum · Four reliable basic calibrations for milk, cream, whey and fermented dairy products that may be Slope/Intercept adjusted to suit other dairy products Export of data in ASCII format for use in other programs Calibrations that can be transferred from one MilkoScan FT 120 instrument to another Analysis of cold samples

The Auto Clean and Zero Module

With this module, cleaning and zero setting is taken care of automatically, giving you faster sample analysis and response to production in only 30 seconds. The module features:

Advanced Performance Module

This module is an extension to the Application Module and enables you to develop calibrations for products and parameters for which FOSS has not yet released a calibration. The Advanced Performance Module features: · Plot and view of the entire spectrum of a sample or a sample set · Statistical tools to help identify and define up to 15 appropriate wavelengths per component · Up to 100 new user-defined channels per product

The Balance Option

FOSS Calibrations

The basic configuration offers four calibrations "Basic Milk", "Basic Cream", "Basic Whey" and "Basic Fermented" - for determination of Fat, Protein, Lactose, Total Solids and Solids-non-Fat in simple dairy products. For complex products that need special calibrations, or if you wish to analyse new components, FOSS provides ready-for-use calibrations for instruments equipped with the Application Module. The benefits from using FOSS calibrations are:

Solid and semi-solid products need dilution prior to analysis. This module makes it possible to introduce · Import of FOSS calibrations for new products and information about sample dilution either manually or by interface to a balance. parameters · Definition of new components based on a limited The Balance Option offers you: · Less time spent on sample pre-treatment number of new IR-wavelengths

· Two separate liquid containers with an alkaline

solution for thorough cleaning and a neutral solution for zero-setting

· Definition of as many new products and

parameters as you like

· PLS (Partial Least Squares) and MLR

(Multiple Linear Regression) routines for development of robust calibrations

· Easier dilution · Improved accuracy on diluted samples · Connection to either Mettler Toledo or Sartorius

Basic balances

· Cleaning and zero setting at user-defined intervals · Back-flush through the pipette to prevent blockages

Advanced Calibration Access

With the Advanced Calibration Access Module installed, your "Slave" MilkoScan FT 120 instrument may utilise calibrations developed using either the Advanced Performance Module or the Calibration Master.

· You save time and money on analysis of all the

calibration samples necessary for a basic calibration. With a FOSS calibration you only need 10 samples for validation

The DDE Option

The Dynamic Data Exchange Option gives you:

· Better accuracy, as FOSS uses a broad range of

calibration samples with large variation in the components

The Import Option

This option enables import of reference result data as well as IR-spectra exported from other MilkoScan FT 120 instruments. It also makes it possible to analyse calibration samples on `slave' instruments and transfer data to a `master' instrument. This means coordinated and cost-effective development of calibrations for a whole group of instruments.

(This option requires the Application Module.)

· Real time updating of MilkoScan FT 120

results in other PC programs supporting DDE, either on the same computer or as part of a Microsoft Network (NetDDE)

Calibration Master Software

The calibration Master is a stand-alone version of the Application Module and the Advanced Performance Module combined with the Import Option. This module has the following features: · Import of spectra and calibration reference data from other MilkoScan FT 120 instruments · Definition of products and calibration work without connection to an instrument

· Safety through the fact that FOSS are testing on

more sample sets

· Access to instantaneous data analysis and fast

calculation of production process modifications without file transfer

· Visual Basic/Microsoft Excel Visual Basic programming examples complete with source code
