ANCHORS TO ATTACH JOIST GIRDERS TO MASONRY WALLS WITHOUT GROUTING (Patent Pending)

NEW!

Test Data Available on our website www.heckmannbuildingprods.com.

The efficient and reliable transfer of horizontal forces between a masonry wall and the building frame is critical to the stability of the building and its main components. Achieve this with the New Twist-On Wall Anchors. The Twist-On Hook allows you to connect a masonry wall to a Joist, Joist Girder, or to any other Truss, as well as to a Castelated or Rolled Beam, while allowing free deflection. The anchor hooks to a Vertical Sliding Bar welded to the steel member. A Corrugated Anchor Bar welded to the Wall Anchor provides secure anchorage in the mortar bed, without grouting, even in hollow block masonry. It remains effective even when the embedment depth differs with the varying distance between the steel and the masonry wall, as allowed by the construction tolerances. This is designed to save time and money as well as to provide a more reliable system with less quality control issues. No. 394 Twist-On I-Type Groutless Wall Anchor: Equipped with the new Twist-On Hook. Attach to a joist, joist girder, or any other steel beam, with the same welded vertical sliding bar. The embedded part is corrugated. Standard 3-1/4" (82.5 mm) x 11 gage Hotdip Galvanized with Twist-On Hook for 1/2" (13 mm), 3/4" (19 mm), or 1" (25.4 mm) vertical bar. Length to suit wall thickness and distance. No. 395 Twist-On T-Type Groutless Wall Anchor: Equipped with the same Twist-On Hook, this anchor has an 11 gage x 1-1/2" (38 mm) x 16" (406 mm) long corrugated strap factory-welded to the Twist-On Hook portion. The embedded T-Anchor is designed to be securely anchored horizontally in the mortar bed. This provides a minimum of three contact points with the block, which eliminates the need to grout the block cells, thus saving time and money. The T-Type configuration is also available for Masonry Walls built against backup walls that use the Channel Slot System (page 14) or the Dovetail System (page 13). See our No. 396 (page 13) and No. 397 (page 15) for additional details. System Benefits 1. Allows the use of joists and joist girders along the perimeter of the building, while anchoring the masonry wall to the open web members with the same efficiency as to a rolled steel member. This can significantly reduce the total cost of the steel framing. 2. Allows the placement of the beam, joist, or joist girder along the wall, rather than built into the wall, while assuring proper connection to the masonry. 3. Allows the use of the masonry wall as a shear wall more often, because the connection is stronger and more reliable. If necessary, two anchors can be installed on a single vertical sliding bar, thus increasing the total shear resistance of the system in a very economical way.

ANCHORS FOR MASONRY TO STRUCTURAL STEEL

Structural Anchors that are Screwed to the Beam.

No. 75 Pos-I-Tie® Dril-It® System has a built-in structural drill bit head that drills and taps mild structural steel up to 1/2" (12.7 mm) thick. A Neoprene Washer makes contact with the beam to seal any moisture from entering the drilled hole. See Pages 4 and 5 for details on the Pos-I-Tie® Anchoring System.

ANCHORS FOR MASONRY TO METAL STUDS

Heckmann's No. 75 Pos-I-Tie® Self Drilling Screw System offers easy installation and water penetration protection. The Barrel-Screw piece is screwed into the steel stud with our Chuck Adapter which fits in a normal screw gun. The screw penetrates the gypsum board/insulation, drills and taps into the stud, then seals the hole with the neoprene washer at the head of the screw. The barrel makes a positive contact with the stud so all compression and tension loads are placed on the stud instead of the gypsum board/insulation. Three types of adjustable wire ties are available for insertion into the barrel. Single screw conforms to ACI 530 code. See Pages 4 and 5 for details on the Pos-I-Tie® Anchoring System.

ANCHORS FOR MASONRY TO CONCRETE OR CMU - ADJUSTABLE

No. 75 Pos-I-Tie® Tapcon® System. Easy to Install Barrel Screw System with wire ties. Used for attaching masonry to an existing wall. 2" (50 mm) hole is predrilled. Ties allow for vertical adjustment. See Pages 4 and 5 for details on the Pos-I-Tie® Anchoring System. Dovetail Anchoring System. (Concrete Only) Incorporates 10 ft (3.048 m) long slots that are cast into concrete. Anchors are inserted in slot which allows vertical adjustment for placement in masonry joints. See Pages 13 for the Dovetail System and available ties. Channel Slot System. #133 Long Channel Slots or #132 Screw-On Channel Slots are attached to existing concrete walls with expansion anchors. Anchors are inserted into the slots which allow vertical adjustment for placement in masonry joints. See Pages 14 and 15 for details on the Channel Slot System.

SEISMIC VENEER ANCHORS Heckmann Building Products provides a variety of Veneer Anchors which conform to the requirements of the Uniform Building Codes for seismic zones. The code requires the veneer wall to have a continuous wire imbedded in the mortar joint. This wire is then connected to the veneer anchor which is attached to the backup structure. The Seismic System allows greater stability, safeguards against problems caused by thermal expansion and contraction, and provides uniform distribution of the lateral forces. A SEISMIC TAB NOTCH CAN BE PROVIDED FOR ANY FLAT HECKMANN ANCHOR UP TO 1/8" (3.17 mm) THICK. Below are examples of the No. 361 Dovetail, and No. 360 Veneer Seismic Anchors. No. 370 Seismic Hook Tab: 22 gage clip welded to No. 316 Triangle Ties, No. 282 Double Pintle Wire Ties, Pos-ITie® Wire Ties, No. 314 Tie Clips, or any 3/16" dia. (4.76 mm) wire tie. Its patented dovetail shape prevents mortar from forming a continuous dam. Its shape, in combination with its 90 percent open weave configuration, allows water and air to rapidly and easily move through the Mortar NetTM material itself to the weeps. For use in masonry, steel, and wood stud cavity walls. Mortar NetTM will last the life of a building and retain its shape and rigidity. It is available in .4", .8", 1", and 2" wide. Upon request, special sizes are available. Mortar NetTM is lightweight, so it's easy to transport and handle. It is compressible to allow for cavity size variations making installation easier. Mortar NetTM requires no fasteners or adhesives, no special skills or tools, and no on-site modifications. MATERIALS AND FINISHES With our extensive custom fabrication capability, Heckmann can provide the types of metal and corrosion resistant treatments to meet your specifications including the following: STAINLESS STEEL: Stainless Steel provides the greatest level of corrosion resistance in most building environments, and is especially recommended for use with stone subject to staining and in exterior walls. Sheet metal anchors and ties: ASTM A 167 AISI Type 304.* Plate and Bent Bar Anchors: ASTM A 666 AISI Type 304.* Wire Ties and Anchors: ASTM A 580, AISI Type 304.* HOTDIP GALVANIZED AFTER FABRICATION: ASTM A 153. These heavy zinc coatings are applied after fabrication to assure that welds and exposed edges are plated. Specify for ties and anchors in exterior or interior walls exposed to a mean relative humidity exceeding 75 percent. Specify type of uncoated steel to be used. Class B-2: (1.50 oz/ft2.)(0.46kg/m2)* ELECTRO GALVANIZED AFTER FABRICATION: Suggested for thicker steel (11 gage or more) where mill galvanizing does not provide adequate protection to cut edges, but where the greater protection of hot dip galvanizing is not required. ASTM A 164. Service Condition 1.0015" minimum zinc thickness. MILL GALVANIZED: Mill Galvanized before fabrication for use in interior walls. Sheet metal ties or anchors in interior walls: ASTM A653 G60.* Wire: ASTM A 641 (0.1 oz/ft2 )* UNCOATED STEEL: Plain steel can be considered when welding would make plated anchors and ties impractical, or when parts will be galvanized after fabrication. Uncoated steel is not recommended for exterior walls or locations subject to moisture. Sheets: Hot Rolled, Pickled and Oiled sheets are ASTM A 569. Cold Rolled sheets are ASTM A 366, Class 1. ASTM A366/A 366M-95. Plates, Bars, and Shapes: ASTM A 36. ASTM A36/A 36-M96. Wire: ASTM A 82. ASTM A82-95a. Wire Rods and Coarse Round Wire Carbon Steel: ASTM A 510/A 510M-96.
