Fifty Years of Designing and Manufacturing Valves

The Hattersley Heaton designs of high integrity valves are widely used in the Oil Refining, Petro-Chemical, Pharmaceutical & Power Industries. The range consists of very low emission conventional valves and zero emission bellows sealed valves. HH Valves serve most of the worlds hydrocarbon processing and chemical companies, with an emphasis on safety, reliability and longevity. HH Valves offer an extensive range of gate, globe and check valves to ASME B16.34, API6D, API600, API602, API591 and compatible British Standards BS1414, BS1873, BS1868 and BS5352. Forged valves are available in sizes 8-50mm (1/4"-2") NB and cast valves in sizes 50-600mm (2"-24") NB, with larger sizes on request. HH Valves are available in pressure classes 150#, 300#, 600#, 900#, 1500# and in a wide range of materials, including WCB, LCB, LCC, WC6, C5, C12, CF8M, Duplex, Super Duplex, Monel, Inconel, & Hastelloy and their forged equivalents, together with the usual trim options. HH Valves also offer resilient seated double block and bleed valves, NACE compliant valves, actuated valves and when necessary, bespoke designs to specific customer requirements.

HH Emission Free Valves

HH conventional valves have low emission graphite gland packing fitted as standard and are suitable for high temperature and cryogenic applications in the range -200ºC to 650ºC. Where emission levels below 50ppm are required HH Valves uses Garlock EVSP 9000 packing or equivalent. When 100% containment with zero emissions is required, HH Valves have a range of Bellows Sealed Gate and Globe valves in a wide range of sizes and pressure classes.

CAST STEEL VEE-REG GLOBE VALVES

Throttling Service

After many years service the Vee-Reg globe valve is recognised as the design which cuts out the problem of erosion or wire drawing when the valve is on, or passing through, the cracked position. This is particularly prevalent in steam service. The unique configuration of the Vee-Reg disc and seat ensures that the seating surfaces are protected at this critical stage.

The main seating surfaces are the interfaces between the disc edge and the outside rim of the seat ring. When the valve is cracked, flow is channelled between additional surfaces machined onto the top of the seat and the disc ports. Any erosion will take place here but since these are only regulating surfaces they do not effect the main isolation or first stage flow control characteristics of the valve. Vee-Reg Valves have same basic dimensions & material specification as standard Globe Valves.

BY-PASS & DRAIN CONNECTIONS VALVE TEST PRESSURES

Unless requested otherwise drain connections and by-passes will be supplied in accordance with the sizes specified in MSS SP-45 Type `A'. Alternatively, gate and check valves above 12" size can be supplied in accordance with the sizes specified in BS1414 and BS1868.

Standard location of by-passes Gate Valves

When gate valves are supplied with a by-pass attached, the by-pass is fitted at the side of the main valve between locations A & B or C & D with the stems of both valves pointing vertically upwards.

Globe Valves

When globe valves are supplied with a by-pass attached, the by-pass is fitted to the right-hand side of the main valve (when viewed facing the flow port leading to the underside of the disc) between locations E & F with the stems of both valves pointing vertically upwards.

Check Valves

When check valves are supplied with a by-pass attached, the by-pass is fitted to the right-hand side of the main valve (when viewed facing the inlet port) between locations A & B with the stem of the by-pass pointing vertically upwards.

Application Notes for Bellows Seal Valves

Installation & use of Bellows Sealed Valves

· Ensure threaded yoke sleeves are fully coated with antiseize compound · Do not use excessive force, ie wheel keys · Ensure no solids are present in the line fluid · Do not exceed temperature pressure ratings · Maximum test pressure not to exceed 11/2 times cold working pressure · Install with stem between vertical and horizontal to prevent debris collecting · Check bellows fatigue lifetime for actuated valves · Check suitability of bellows and trim for corrosive fluids · Avoid hydrochloric acid used for pipe cleaning · Avoid rapid pressure cycles - positive displacement pumps on liquid service - waterhammer from poorly designed condensate lines - ensure there is a pressure relief bleed hole in wedge gate cryogenic applications
