FRP

The FRP currently used for bathtubs and bathroom floors is a cheap, light, and tough material. It's surface is hydrophobic and it is not easy to remove soap scum and sebum which are the main component in bathroom dirt. Furthermore it scratches easily over longterm use. Therefore, our company began to investigate a glass coating for FRP that would make the surface harder and be easier to clean. From experiments using artificial soap scum, the hydrophilic surface appeared to be good for above purpose. We selected a glass coating because it has a hydrophilic surface and is hard. We found out a certain precursor which carried out glassizing at low temperature, and optimized condition to make the film, it was therefore possible to apply to the long-term durability component needed for bathroom floors. The coating is formed at a relatively low temperature, which makes it possible to apply to other thermoplastics and products. This paper describes the results of our evaluation and experiment for glass coatings for FRP.
