HOLMAN PLACE PUBLIC SCHOOL

NEWSLETTER TERM 1 Week 11, 2013

Thank you to family and carers who attended the term assembly last Friday. It is always great to come together and celebrate our students achievements and see some of the terrific work that our classes are working on. I was most impressed at the behaviour our the majority of our students considering the length of time they were required to sit and the amount of space we were confined to, congratulations for your excellent behaviour and awesome presentations. It was my pleasure to announce and present Captains badges to two of our three school representatives for 2013; Blake Howden and Michael Wren were in attendance to accept their badges , unfortunately Tara Dennis was absent and her badge and recognition will be delivered early next term. I am sure that our three Captains will represent Holman Place School well. The work on our new buildings is really moving ahead with the frame going up as I type. On return from the holidays we should see our path and undercover walkway complete as well. We have organised the school dental clinic for Friday 10th May. If you have yet to return your forms, please do so ASAP. We had our final Sailability day on Tuesday. A big thank you to Timothy Hone who runs this terrific program, we look forward to returning to it in term 4. P&C numbers are looking terrific this term, our hope would be for this continual support throughout the year. Finally I would like to wish families a safe and happy break and we look forward to seeing

students return on Wednesday, 1st May 2013. Both Monday and Tuesday are Staff

Development days.

KANGAROOS Hello everyone as we reach the end of our first term. The class has enjoyed a range of academic and life skill activities in the first 10 weeks of 2013. Last week Khaleb and Jennifer Stone received special awards in assembly and J.K, Bradley, Jaydon and Tori-Lee were presented with commendations for their efforts so far this year. Bradley presented his story and all students displayed their artworks for those who attended. This week we finished sailing and had a great day with the Emus class who also attended. J.K, Jayden and Brad enjoyed being on the water and Khaleb was a great help on the shore. Students have also been busy practicing for Eisteddfod. Jennifer, J.K and Tori are learning the Kangaroo dance and Khaleb is doing the heel and toe. In cooking we have been making pancakes and treats that we have been happy to share with others. Our garden is going well and we have grown a variety of vegies. We have also planted a new crop of carrots ready for next term. Gemma, Chris and myself would like to wish everyone a safe and happy break and thank you for your support so far this year.

My favourite art activity was sand art it was so much fun and it turned out really good. Amy: Amy liked making initials with dough. She was the best at kneading the dough to mix the colour through.
