This manual contains instructions for safety, operation and maintenance. It is essential to read and follow all the instructions and warnings in the manual, prior to assembly, setup or use, in order to operate correctly and avoid damage or serious injury.

Additional Safety Precautions and Warnings

This model is controlled by a radio signal subject to interference from many sources outside your control. Battery Warnings

Charging the Flight Battery

Failure to follow the instructions properlycouldresultinafire.Whencharging,makesurethebatteryisona heat-resistantsurface.Fullychargetheflightbatterybeforebindingtheaircraft or performing control tests.

The Battery Charging Process

Low Voltage Cutoff (LVC)

TheESCwillcontinuouslylowerpowertothemotoruntilcompleteshutdown occursoncethebatteryreaches9Vunderload.ThishelpspreventoverdischargeoftheLi-Pobattery.Landimmediatelywhenthehelicopterrequires increasedthrottletomaintainhover.ContinuingtoflyafterLVCcandamagethe battery, cause a crash or both. Crash damage and batteries damaged due to over-dischargearenotcoveredunderwarranty. DisconnectandremovetheLi-Pobatteryfromtheaircraftafterusetoprevent trickledischarge.FullychargeandstoretheLi-Pobatteryinasafelocation. Duringstorage,ensurethebatterychargedoesnotfallbelow3Vpercell.

Throttle Hold

Throttle hold only turns off the motor on an electric helicopter. You must maintain pitch and direction control. ThebladeswillspinifthethrottleholdisOFF(0).Forsafety,turnthethrottle holdON(1)anytimeyouneedtotouchthehelicopterorcheckthedirection controls. Additionally, throttle hold is used to turn off the motor if the helicopter is out of control, in danger of crashing, or both. Throttle hold will also allow you to performanauto-rotationlandingoncethehelicopterhassufficientaltitude.

Stunt Mode

StuntModeallowsyoutoflyaerobatics. When the helicopter is in stunt mode: -Therotorheadspeedisconstant. -Themainrotorwillincreasenegativepitchasthethrottle/collectivestickis movedfromthemiddlestickpositiontothelowstickposition.Negativepitch allowsthehelicoptertoflyupsidedownandperformmildaerobatics. Change between stunt and idle up modes in a hover with the throttle near the middlestickposition. The helicopter may go up or down when you change between modes due to the difference in the throttle and pitch curves. TurntheSMTCMADJknobtothefullclockwise(+)positionformaximum throttle in stunt mode.

Transmitter and Receiver Binding

BindingistheprocessofprogrammingthereceivertorecognizetheGUID(GloballyUniqueIdentifier)codeofasinglespecifictransmitter.Youneedto`bind'your chosenSpektrumTMDSMtechnologyequippedaircrafttransmittertothereceiverforproperoperation. IfyouchoosetouseadifferentSpektrumDSMradiothantheoneincluded,pleasefollowthesebindinginstructionsforproperoperation. Binding Procedure 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Readthetransmitterinstructionsforbindingtoareceiver(locationoftransmitter'sBindcontrol). Makesurethetransmitterispoweredoff. Installabindpluginthehelicopter'sextensionlabeled`bind'. ConnecttheflightbatterytotheESC.ThereceiverLEDwillbegintoflashrapidly. Movethetransmittercontrolstoneutral(flightcontrols:rudder,elevatorsandailerons)ortolowpositions(throttle). Poweronthetransmitterwhileholdingthetransmitterbindbuttonorswitch.Refertoyourtransmitter'smanualforinstructions. Whenthereceiverbindstothetransmitter,thereceiverlightwillturnsolid. DisconnecttheflightbatteryfromtheESC.Removethebindplugfromtheextension. Safelystorethebindplug(someownersattachthebindplugtotheirtransmitterusingtwo-partloopsandclips).

10. Thereceiverwillkeepthebindtothetransmitteruntilanotherbindingisdone. 11. Alwaysperformthecontroltestshowninthismanualbeforeflyingthehelicopter. If you encounter problems, refer to the transmitter troubleshooting guide for other instructions. Ifneeded,contacttheappropriateHorizonProductSupportoffice.

Installing the Flight Battery

4.Installtheflightbatteryonthehelicopterframe.Securethebatterywitha 1. Power on the transmitter. hookandloopstrap.ConnectthebatterycabletotheESC. 2.Lowerthrottleandcenterthethrottletrim. 5. Wait 5 seconds while the gyro initializes. WARNING: Afterconnectingthebattery,moveThrottleHold(THHOLD) switchtoposition(1). 6.Theaircraftwillemit2tonesandasolidredLEDonthegyroonceitis ready. 3.Attachloopmaterialtothebatteryandhookmaterialtothehelicopter frame. CAUTION: AlwaysdisconnecttheLi-Pobatteryfromtheaircraftreceiverwhennotflyingtoavoidover-dischargingthebattery. Batteriesdischargedbelow9Vmaybecomedamaged,resultinginlossofperformanceandpotentialfirewhenbatteriesarecharged. Donotmovethehelicopterafterconnectingtheflightbatterytoletthehelicoptergyrocalibrate.Donotallowthebatterytotouchthemotor.

Control Test

Placethehelicopteronacleanandflatgroundsurface(concreteorasphalt) free of obstructions. Always stay clear of the moving rotor blades. CAUTION: Keep pets and other animals away from the helicopter. Animalsmayinjurethemselvesiftheyattackorruntowardthe helicopter. 1.Movethethrottlesticktoidle/lowstickpositionandmovealltransmitter switchestothe(0)position. 2. Turn the transmitter on. CAUTION: The transmitter battery alarm beeps when the transmitter batteriesare4.3Vorless.Replacethetransmitterbatterieswhenthe alarm beeps. 3.ConnecttheredJSTbatteryconnectortothehelicopter's2-in-1unit.Do notallowthehelicoptertomoveuntiltheredLEDonthegyroissolid. 4.Themotorbeepstwicewhenthehelicopter's2-in-1unitarmsproperly. MovetheThrottleHold(THHOLD)switchtothe(1)position. WARNING: The motor, main rotor and tail rotor will spin when the throttle isincreasediftheTHHOLDswitchisnotmovedtothe(1)position. 5.Checktheswashplatedirectionstoensuretheyaremovinginthecorrect direction. Please refer to the diagrams below for reference. 6. Place the helicopter in an open area outdoors. WARNING: Stayatleast30feet(10meters)awayfromthehelicopter whenthemotorisrunning.Donotattempttoflythehelicopteratthis time. 7. Ensurethethrottleisloweredcompletely.MovetheTHHOLDswitchtothe (0)position.Slowlyincreasethethrottleuntilthebladesbegintospin.The mainbladesspinclockwisewhenviewingthehelicopterfromthetop.The tailrotorbladesspincounterclockwisewhenviewingthehelicopterfrom theright-handside. NOTICE:Ifthemainrotorbladesarespinningbackward,reducethethrottleto idle.Movethethrottleholdswitchtothe(1)position.Disconnectthebattery fromthehelicopterandreverseanytwomotorwireconnectionstothe2-in-1 unit. Flying the Blade SR UH-1 Huey

· Alwayskeeptheaircraftinsightandundercontrol. · Always ensure spectators, especially children, are at least 40 feet away when the motor is running. · Alwaysturnonthrottleholdatrotorstrike. · Always use fullly charged batteries. · Alwayskeeptransmitterpoweredonwhileaircraftispowered. · Always remove batteries before disassembly Consult local laws and ordinances before choosing a location to fly your aircraft. Selectalarge,openareaawayfrompeopleandobjects.Yourfirstflights shouldbeoutdoorsinlow-windconditions.DonotattempttoflytheBladeSR UH-1Hueyhelicopterindoors.Alwaysstayatleast30feet(10meters)away fromthehelicopterwhenitisflying. TheBladeUH-1Hueyisnotintendedtobeflownindoorswhereitmightbe possibletoflyaBlademSRorBladeCX2.Experiencedpilotsmayfinditpossibletoflythehelicopterinalargegymnasium. CAUTION: FamiliarizeyourselfwiththeBladeSRUH-1Hueyprimarycontrolsbeforeattemptingyourfirstflight.TheHueyismoreresponsivethan otherBladehelicopters,suchastheBladeCX2.Werecommendgetting helpfromanexperiencedpilotandinstallingtraininggear,ifyouarenew to collective pitch helicopters. · Alwayskeepmovingpartsclean. · Alwayskeeppartsdry. · Always let parts cool after use before touching. · Always remove batteries after use. · Never operate aircraft with damaged wiring · Never touch moving parts W hileattemptingtoestablishalow-levelhover,youcanalsochecktosee ifanytrimadjustmentsarerequiredtohelpkeeptheSRUH-1Hueyfrom constantly drifting in various directions. If you find the aircraft drifts without any directionalcontrolinput,landthemodelbeforemakinganyadjustmentstothe trim settings. -Ifthehelicopterdriftsforwardorbackward,adjusttheelevatortrim. -Ifthehelicopterdriftstotheleftorright,adjusttheailerontrim. CAUTION:Alwaysflythehelicopterwithyourbacktothesunandwind topreventlossofflightcontrol. Continuemakingtrimadjustmentsuntilthehelicopterhoversatalowaltitude withverylittledriftinganddirectionalcontrolinput.IftheBladeSRUH-1Huey isyourfirsthelicoptermodel,seekhelpfromanexperiencedpilottotrimthe modelforyoubeforemakingyourfirstflight.

Gyro Gain Adjustment

· Ifthetailwagsoroscillates,lowerthegainonthegyro. Turnthepotonthegyrocounterclockwise.Youcanaccessitthrough the hole in the side of the fuselage. · Ifthetailisdriftingwhilehovering,increasethegainonthegyro. Turnthepotonthegyroclockwise.Youcanaccessitthroughthehole in the side of the fuselage.

Post-Flight Inspections and Maintenance

Ball Links Cleaning Bearings Wiring Fasteners Rotors Makesuretheplasticballlinkholdsthecontrolball,butisnottightorbindingontheball.Whenalinkistoolooseontheball,itcanseparatefromtheball duringflightandcauseacrash.Replacewornballlinksbeforetheyfail. Makesurethebatteryisnotconnectedbeforecleaning.Removedustanddebriswithasoftbrushoradry,lint-freecloth. Replacethebearingswhentheybecomestickyinplaceswhenturning. Makesurethewiringdoesnotblockmovingparts.Replaceanydamagedwiringandlooseconnectors. Makesuretherearenoloosescrews,fastenersorconnectors.Donotovertightenmetalscrewsinplasticparts.Tightenscrewssothepartsaremated together,thenturnthescrewonly1/8thofaturnmore.Makesurethemainrotorbladescrewsareproperlytightened.Donotallowmainrotorbladesto move freely in the blade grips. Makesurethereisnodamagetotherotorbladesorotherpartsthatmoveathighspeed.Damagetothesepartsinclude:cracks,burrs,chipsorscratches. Replacedamagedpartsbeforeflying.

RF Mode

The included transmitter has a France RF Mode that complies with French regulations. The transmitter must be in France mode when used outdoors in France.Atallothertimes,thetransmittershouldbeinStandardmode.

STANDARD MODE

Poweronthetransmitter.MovetheDRateswitchbetweenHiandLountilthe screen displays "nF".

FRANCE MODE

Power on the transmitter, flip the D/R switch until the screen displays "F".
