Reception of the Bishop

The Bishop vested in Cope and Mitre will be received at the church by the Pro-Rector of the Oratory. He then venerates a cross and receives Holy Water. With the choir singing"Ecce Sacerdos Magnus", he enters the church and blesses the faithful.

Responsory in Procession

ECCE SACERDOS MAGNUS

Ecce sacérdos magnus qui in diébus suis plácuit Deo.* Ideo jurejurándo fecit illum Dóminus créscere in plebem suam. Ps. Benedictiónem ómnium géntium dedit illi et testaméntum suum confirmávit super caput ejus. Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. Ideo...

STADLER

Behold a great priest who in his days pleased God; therefore with an oath the Lord hath made him great among his people. Ps. He gave him the blessing of all peoples and hath confirmed his covenant upon his head. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. Therefore...

The Bishop enters the sanctuary, kneels at a faldstool, and the Pro-Rector stands at the Epistle side of the altar singing this prayer for him.

. Protector noster, aspice, Deus . Et respice in faciem Christi tui. . Salvum fac servum tuum . Deus meus, sperantem in te. . Mitte ei, Domine, auxilium de sancto . Et de Sion tuere eum. . Nihil proficiat inimicus in eo . Et filius iniquitatis non apponat nocere ei. . Dominus vobiscum. . Et cum spiritu tuo.

Oremus. Omnípotens sempitérne Déus, qui facis mirabília magna solus, præténde super hunc fámulum túum, et cunctas congregationes illi commíssas, spíritum grátiæ salutáris: et ut in veritáte tibi compláceat, perpétuum ei rorem tuæ benedictiónis infúnde. Per Christum Dóminum nostrum.

. O God, our Protector, look graciously upon us. . And look upon the face of Thy Christ. . Lord, save Thy servant . Who hopeth in Thee, my God. . Send him help, O Lord, from Thy holy place . And from Sion protect him. . Let not the enemy prevail against him . Nor the son of iniquity draw near to harm him. . The Lord be with you. . And with thy spirit.

Let us pray. Almighty and everlasting God, who alone produces great miracles: send down upon Thy servants and upon the congregations committed to their care the healthful Spirit of Thy grace: and, that they may truly please Thee, pour upon them the continual dew of Thy blessing.

. Amen.

. Amen.

INVOCATION TO ST. PATRICK

THE ANOINTING WITH CHRISM, WITH INDIVIDUAL IMPOSITION OF HANDS

Those to be confirmed approach the Bishop with their sponsors. The Bishop, stretching the fingers of his right hand over the head of each candidate, anoints his forehead with his thumb, dipped in holy chrism, and gives him a triple blessing, saying:

N. Signo te signo Crucis: et confirmo te Chrismate salutis: In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti. . Amen.

N. I sign you with the sign of the cross, and I confirm you with the chrism of salvation, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost. . Amen.

The Bishop then strikes gently the newly confirmed on the cheek, which takes the place of the kiss of peace, as is shown by the words: Pax tecum, which the Bishop says.

Epistle

Brethren: Knowing the time, that it is now the hour for us to rise from sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we believed. The night is past, and the day is at hand; let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and impurities, not in contention and envy; but put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Gradual

Gospel

(St. Luke 21: 25-33) In illo tempore: Dixit Jeus discipulis Suis: "Erunt signa in sole, et luna, et stellis; et in terris pressúra géntium præ confusióne sónitus maris et fiúctuum: arescéntibus homínibus præ timóre et exspectatióne, quæ super vénient univérso orbi: nam vírtútes coelórum movebúntur; et tunc vidébunt Fílium hóminis veniéntem in nube cum potestáte magna et majestáte. His autem fíeri incipiéntibus, respícite et leváte cápita vestra; quóniam appropínquat redémptio vestra." Et dixit illis similitúdinem: "Vidéte ficúlneam, et omnes árbores: cum prodúcunt jam At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: There shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, by reason of the confusion of the roaring of the sea and of the waves: men withering away for fear and expectation of what shall come upon the whole world. For the powers of heaven shall be moved; and then they shall see the Son of man coming in a cloud with great power and majesty. But when these things begin to come to pass, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is at hand. And

Coelum et terra transibunt: verba autem Mea non transíbunt." He spoke to them a similitude: See the fig tree, and all the trees; when they now shoot forth their fruit, you know that summer is nigh; so you also, when you shall see these things come to pass, know that the kingdom of God is at hand. Amen I say to you, this generation shall not pass away till all things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.

NOVENA for the Feast of the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

Preparing the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Main Patroness of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, there will be a public Novena starting on November 29th until December 7th. Father Buchholz will say after Holy Mass the Novena prayers. Everyone is invited to join and participate in the Novena at church or privately at home.

Last week's Capital Campaign income was $2,585.00 bringing the total for November to $8,777.00. Mark your calendars for December 16. Immediately following Holy Mass on Sunday, December 16 we will have an "open house" at the Oratory to show what has been done with the restoration. This will be the last opportunity to go in and look around because shortly thereafter the scaffolding goes up and the plaster/paint work begins and that process will take approximately four months. The architect plans on having a rendering of the paint scheme on display at that time.

O most holy Virgin who wast pleasing to God and didst become His Mother. Immaculate in your body, in your soul, in your faith and in your love, we beseech thee to look graciously upon the wretched who implore thy powerful protection. The wicked serpent, against whom the primal curse was hurled, continues none the less to wage war and to lay snares for the unhappy children of Eve. Ah, do thou, our blessed Mother, our Queen and Advocate, who from the first instant of thy conception didst crush the head of our enemy, receive the prayers that we unite single-heartedly to thine and conjure thee to offer at the throne of God, that we may never fall into the snares that are laid for us, in such wise that we may all come to the haven of salvation; and in the midst of so many dangers may holy Church and the fellowship of Christians everywhere sing once more the hymn of deliverance, victory and peace. Amen. Thou art all fair, O Mary. And the original stain is not in thee. Thou art the glory of Jerusalem. Thou art the joy of Israel. Thou art the honour of our people. Thou art the advocate of sinners. O Mary, virgin most prudent, mother most tender, pray for us Intercede for us with Jesus Christ our Lord.

Followed by Three Hail Mary's and this Oraison:

Collection:

Nov 25 - 24th Sunday after Pentecost $1,746.25 $2,585.00

Capital Campaign Receipts:

Nov 19 through Nov 25

NEW ORATORY CHOIR DIRECTOR SOUGHT Experience and familiarity with traditional sacred music of the Roman Catholic Church (by such composers as Palestrina & Victoria), would be very helpful. The ability to train singers is desired. Organ or piano proficiency needed and experience in singing Gregorian Chant is required. Ability to pronounce Church Latin is essential. This part-time position requires two weekly rehearsals (one week-day and one pre -Mass warm-up) and performances weekly at regular 9:15 am Sunday Mass in addition to other special evening feast day Masses. Contact Father Denis Buchholz by telephone @ (816) 931-5612 or e-mail CV to: [email protected]

O God who, by the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin, didst make her a worthy habitation for Thy Son, and didst, by His foreseen death, preserve her from all stain of sin; grant we beseech Thee, that through her intercession we may be cleansed from sin and come with pure hearts to Thee. Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Three times:

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. Amen.

ADVENT SEASON

Advent is a time of recollection, preparation and penance, but also a time of great joy because we are expecting the coming of Our Lord. And St. Paul the Apostle tells us that the time is fulfilled, our waiting is over, salvation is at hand. Christ is entering this world, the Messiah who was promised by God to the people of Israel in order to redeem the fallen human race and reopen the gates of heaven. Therefore, we should use these precious weeks of Advent Season and prepare ourselves so that we are able to welcome the Infant Jesus at Christmas. The better we are prepared the better we can receive the abundant graces the Divine Infant wishes to distribute among us when He comes into this world. This is the reason why Holy Mother Church invites as to intensify our efforts preparing the coming of Our Saviour by praying, fasting, making sacrifices and receiving the Sacraments especially the Holy Sacrament of Penance and the Holy Communion.
