American Red Cross Lifeguard Training is offered at Freedom Park. The class Includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Standard First Aid, Lifeguard Training, and Waterfront Module. Pre-registration is required and limited. 452-1972

Lifeguard Training Prerequisites Include:

15 years old before the first class, proof of age required. On the first day persons must swim: 550 continuous yards (200 yds. each of free swim & breaststroke and 150 yds. of one of those two strokes) Retrieve object 8' deep and swim 25 yds with it.

LAGRANGE LACROSSE CLUB

KIDNASTICS MOVEMENT

Kidnastics is a non-competitive movement program aimed at developing basic skills such as balancing, rolling, jumping, vaulting, and hanging & climbing. Students should wear comfortable clothing and will work out in stocking feet. Students should come with a snack and a water bottle. The final day of the session there will be a group performance which all parents are invited to watch. Held at Noxon Road Elementary School. Registration is limited. H.V. POP WARNER FOOTBALL & CHEER

Hudson Valley Knights Pop Warner Football & Cheer league is open to local boys and girls ages 5-15 with age and weight restrictions for safety. Tiny Mite League participants ages 5,6,7 are in full football gear. Cheer is year round. Challenger flag football for youth with disabilities. LAGRANGE YOUTH BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

Baseball and Softball are offered to youth 5 to 16 from LaGrange and Union Vale through the LaGrange Youth Baseball/Softball League. There is also an exciting Challenger division for special needs children ages 6-21. The season runs from mid -April through late June. Registration is held in November and January. LAGRANGE SOCCER LEAGUE

Soccer is offered through the LaGrange Soccer Club, Inc. to children 4 to18 years of age. Children born between 8/1/05 to 7/31/06 are eligible to play for the first time in the U5 age division. The program provides skill instruction for all age divisions, competitive travel teams and special needs programs for both children and adults with disabilities. Hudson Valley AYF Admirals is open to boys & girls, grades K - 8. Teams are formed on a school grade basis, all kids eligible to play. Flag football & non-competitive cheer for ages 57.Tackle football & competitive cheer for ages 7-14. Season runs Aug - Nov. Registrations are held March - June. LAGRANGE CHALLENGER BOWLING

A league for children with special needs, open to youth and adults ages 6 - 30 with developmental and physical special needs. Bowl every Sunday 7pm, 7/11 - 8/15 at Holiday Bowl. OUTDOOR ICE SKATING

The LaGrange Recreation Department provides an unsupervised ice skating area at Stringham Park, weather permitting. The designated area has a maximum water depth of 3'. Please note that Stringham Park has two deep water ponds where skating is prohibited.

ARLINGTON HOCKEY CLUB

SENIOR CITIZENS

Pleasant Valley-LaGrange Senior Drop-in Center meets Fridays 10am-2pm at the P.V. Town Hall, Rt 44 . Open to seniors 55+ from Pleasant Valley, LaGrange and surrounding towns. Free program includes crafts, games, live music, exercise and more. Two Bus Trips scheduled from P.V. Town Hall. Trip 1; 5/4, Hunterdon Hills Playhouse, Hampton, NJ, lunch and show "Sunshine Boys". Trip 2; to be determined. For more trip info come to the Drop-In Center Fridays. Senior Center program leader Deborah Lyvers, 242-4460 The Tri-Town Senior Citizens meet M -Th at the American Legion on Overlook Rd. 10am-2pm. Call one day in advance for lunch reservations (486-6363). Recreation, social events, transportation and programs offered. The Center is looking for volunteers to deliver meals East of the Taconic. Call if you can help. Dial-A-Ride is a curb-to-curb transportation service, designed to serve senior citizens and other individuals with disabilities. JUNIOR LIFEGUARD

American Red Cross Guard Start is a program for youth 11 - 14 that provides a foundation of aquatic leadership, knowledge, and attitudes, preparing them for the full Lifeguard Training course. Held at Freedom Lake. Class Schedule: 6/28-7/9, M-F, 2:00-2:45pm. Fee: $60 with season pass, $100 without pass Registration: at Town Hall, Rec Dept: 452-1972. Prerequisite: Pass the Freedom Lake deep water swim test & able to swim 10' under water.

COUNSELOR - IN - TRAINING (C.I.T.)

The training program is for Town of LaGrange students entering 8th grade up to 15 years of age. The objective of the program is to prepare students for future employment as camp counselors or recreation leaders. The C.I.T.'s are required to participate in all camp activities under the supervision of the C.I.T. Director and Counselors. Students accepted into the program must attend a one hour training session. Interested youth should fill out a C.I.T. application form available at the Town Hall, and return by May 3, 2010. The LaGrange Junior Basketball League provides a positive learning experience along with teamwork, sportsmanship, and the general fundamentals of the game. For girls & boys 7 to 18 years old. The eligible age is birth date before January 1. There also is a challenger division for youth with special needs. Limited Registration is in September. (See Calendar of Events). Registration fee for the Nov. 09 - March 10 season was $100/ single player; $175/ family; Challenger $35 (fees subject to change). Late reg. fee $25. Travel program for grades 5-8. New coaches welcome.

The Town Clerk's Office loans out several items such as crutches, wheelchairs & walkers. These are available for use by town residents free of charge. If you need to borrow items contact the Town Clerk's Office at 452-1830 ext. # 2

TENNIS

Tennis instruction for youth 7-14 is offered by LaGrange Recreation for beginners through intermediates. One week, M-F sessions will be held at LaGrange Middle School. Registration is limited. The LaGrange Recreation Department offers a Summer Day Camp program at Freedom Park for children entering grades 1 through 7. Activities include arts enrichment, Red Cross certified swim instruction, boating, music, games, entertainment and special camp events. Camp registration includes 5 lunches per 2 week session (W,F- pizza, 2nd Thu - an alternate lunch). Bus transportation is available with centralized stops at: Overlook School, Apple Valley Shopping Center, Noxon School and the Freedom Plains Presbyterian Church. Individual drop-off at Freedom Park is between 8:45 and 9:00 am; pickup is promptly at 3:00 pm. Camp registration is open to residents of the Town of LaGrange and will be held in May. (See 2010 calendar of events) Campers may register for one or more two-week sessions. Registration is limited. In order to register your child you must have current immunization records, health insurance information, emergency contact phone numbers, and proof of residency ID. Health forms are available at the Town Hall Rec. Dept. before registration. If your child takes medication you must have a prescription from the doctor stating how and when medication is dispensed.
