2010 Ford EscapE

NEW IN 2010

· Integrated Blind Spot Mirror for improved blind spot visibility · MyKeyTM programmable vehicle key · Rear View Camera System to aid in backing up · Active Park Assist for parallel parking assistance · SYNC® with Traffic, Directions & Information For 2010, Ford Escape adds five new features that improve safety, reduce driver distractions and aid drivers. Integrated Blind Spot Mirrors, MyKeyTM, a Rear View Camera System and Active Park Assist are all now available to Escape owners, and Escape is one of the first Ford vehicles to feature the latestgeneration hands-free SYNC® system now with Traffic, Directions & Information helping reduce distractions while accessing important route and safety information. The new technologies build on Escape's unsurpassed crash ratings a "Top Safety Pick" award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and 5-star government ratings in all crash tests. The Escape, which Kelley Blue Book editors recently named one of the "2009 Best New Family Vehicles," also offers: · AdvanceTrac® with RSC® (Roll Stability ControlTM) the world's only system with a gyroscopic sensor that actively measures and helps prevent both side-to-side yaw and roll movements · Safety Canopy® a side curtain air bag technology offering protection for the first and second seating rows, helping provide rollover and ejection protection with extended deployment in rollovers · Tire Pressure Monitoring System alerts drivers when tire pressure is low, since properly inflated tires not only are important for safety, they also can help improve fuel economy · An available Rear View Camera System uses an exterior camera embedded in the rear of the vehicle that sends images to a video display in the rearview mirror or the navigation system screen, if equipped Integrated Blind Spot Mirror

The new Active Park Assist system uses sensors on the front and rear of the vehicle, working in conjunction with Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS), to guide the vehicle into a parking space. How it works: · The driver activates the system by pressing an instrument panel button, which activates the ultrasonic sensors to measure and identify a feasible parallel parking space · The system prompts the driver to accept the system's assistance to park · The steering system takes over and steers the car into the parking space. The driver still shifts the transmission and operates the gas and brake pedals · A visual and/or audible driver interface advises the driver about the proximity of other cars, objects and people while providing instructive prompts · While the steering is all done automatically, the driver remains responsible for safe parking and can interrupt the system by grasping the steering wheel

The 2010 Escape Limited Hybrid is packaged for environmentally conscious buyers who still want a full complement of accessories and equipment. Upgrades from the standard Escape Hybrid include: · 16-inch, six-spoke bright machined aluminum wheels and exterior chrome accents · Chrome and ebony interior touches · Luxury and convenience package that includes ambient lighting, heated front leather seating surfaces, a power moonroof, retractable cargo area cover and standard SecuriCodeTM keyless entry

Escape Hybrid for 2010 is expected to continue its claim, along with the Mercury Mariner Hybrid, as America's most fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly SUV. This year, Escape Hybrid returns 34 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, allowing you to do more and go farther with less fuel. The Hybrid powertrain includes a 2.5-liter I-4 coupled with a 94 hp electric motor. Aiding economy, refined aerodynamics and low-rolling-resistance tires also contribute to a quiet, refined cabin environment. The advanced powertrain also incorporates electronic throttle control (ETC). This technology replaces the manual linkage between accelerator and throttle with a control unit that calculates the optimal throttle position from a number of sensors. ETC is a form of the state-ofthe-art, drive-by-wire technology.

Escape Hybrid uses a 2.5-liter gasoline I-4 designed to run on the Atkinson combustion cycle combined with a 94 hp electric motor. An advanced engine processor enables nearly imperceptible transitions between gas and electric vehicle mode. Hybrid models also feature a unique powertrain damping system designed to reduce vibrations and feedback to the driver and other vehicle occupants.

Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS) reduces the load on the engine since a beltdriven power steering pump is no longer required. Built-in PullDrift Compensation detects road conditions such as a crowned road surface or crosswinds and adjusts the steering system to help the driver compensate for pulling and drifting.
