Symposium and Workshop "Neuroimaging of developmental disorders"

September 12-16, 2008 Dubrovnik, Croatia

ORGANIZERS: Croatian Society for Neuroscience CIBR, School of Medicine University of Zagreb, Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences

INVITATION TO ATTEND

Ivica Kostovic, President Croatian Society for Neuroscience

Dear Colleagues, We invite you to Symposium and Workshop on "Neuroimaging of developmental disorders" in Dubrovnik. Neurodevelopmental disorders are main cause of motor, sensory cognitive and behavioral impairment. According to current concepts, schizophrenia and autism are also included in neurodevelopmental disorders. Neurobiological basis, pathogenetic mechanisms and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders remain one of the most challenging topics in contemporary translational medicine. Croatian Society for Neuroscience, together with Croatian Institute for Brain Research, School of Medicine University of Zagreb and Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences decided to organize a symposium and workshop on this topic, with attempt to bridge the gap between cutting-edge neuroscience research and clinical work in the field of neuroradiology, pediatric neurology, neonatology, neurology, child psychiatry and clinical psychology. Symposium will be recognized by IBRO symposia program. Joint Committee of Society for Neuroscience and US National Academies also welcomed our idea of workshop and symposium. Topics include; neuroimaging of normal development including fetal and neonatal imaging; dynamic mapping during childhood and adulthood; functional MRi during cognitive development; neuroimaging of developmental disorders and malformations; neuroimaging in metabolic disorders; genetic disorders: neurogenomics and neuroimaging; functional and structural neuroimaging in child psychiatry; neuroimaging of autism; perinatal lesions and plasticity; neuroimaging of language disturbances and methods of assessment (MRi, fMRi, DTi, Tractography, MR Spectroscopy PET). In addition, workshop will cover most of the methodological approaches in the field of neuroimaging with great practical impact for diagnosis and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders. Concept of symposium and workshop is similar to ,,Neurobiology of Disease Workshops" at SfN Meetings. The premeditation of the Scientific Committee is to implement concept "neuroimaging-neurogenomicspharmacogenimic" throughout the symposium. The workshop is based on connection with modern 3Tesla unit in Zagreb and availability of current 3D MRi and other automatic programs. We are grateful to all speakers, leading experts in the field, for their acceptance to participate. Their input will be incomparable contribution to the overall quality of the event. We hope to attract your interest to participate on both symposium and workshop, enjoy academic atmosphere of CAAS, and unique Mediterranean surroundings of beautiful Dubrovnik!
