TO TEST TWO FABRIC SAMPLES AT THE SAME TIME. EACH SAMPLE IS COMPOSED BY 3 DISCS OF FABRIC AS REQUESTED BY THE INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS

The force applied on the sample is 9 kPa or 12 kPa according to the standard in use. For pilling tests, the same head (38 mm diameter) is used. The reference photographs for pilling are type SM 50 (for orthogonal fabrics) and SM 54 (for knitted fabrics). Moreover, by means of a special kit of 6 heads 90 mm diameter, this model can perform the "Swiss pilling test" according to ISO 12945-2 SN 198525 and SN 198529 standards. The reference photographs for pilling are EMPA type (for orthogonal fabrics and for knitted fabrics).

TEST PROCEDURE

According to the international standards, tha fabric samples, being in contact with a disc of the same fabric (for pilling analysis according to some specific norms) or of an abradent fabric, undergo preset rubbing cycles at a given pressure, making the well-known Lissajous figure. The wearing test ends when the operator notices the breakage of the first two yarns of the fabric framework. The pilling test ends with the analysis of the pilling forming on the sample surface after a preset number of turns. The evaluation of the results is made by comparison with the reference standard photographs.

The photo shows the holder for abradent fabric. According to the international standards, it is provided with a ring and 4 fixing bolts.
