DESCRIPTION General

Monokote MK-6: Spray applied fireproofing is a single component, mill-mixed fire-proofing plaster which requires only the addition of water on the job site to form a pumpable slurry. Monokote MK-6 is available in two formulations, MK-6s and MK-6/[email protected] Spatterkote Type SK-3 must be applied to the flat plate cellular decking prior to application of MK-6/[email protected] and MK65. MK-6 is used in new construction. Retro-Guard: Spray-applied fireproofing is a factory blended cementitious, plaster-based material used as replacement fireproofing. Retro-Guard is mixed with water on the job site to form a pumpable slurry. Spatterkote Type SK-3 must be applied to the flat plate cellular decking prior to application of RG. Retro-Guard is used for abatementlre-spray applications in existing construction. Both Monokote Type MK-6 and Retro-Guard are intended for spray application as part of beam, columns, non-load bearing walls, floor-ceiling, and roof-ceiling Fire-Resistance Rated Assemblies. Retro-Guard is classified for use over UL Classified encapsulant materials which are listed under category CBUI in the ULI Fire Resistant Directory. The hourly rating depends upon the material type, density, and thickness applied as per the designs which are listed in the Underwriters Laboratories Inc. Fire Resistance Directory.

SCOPE OF EVALUATION

Monokote Type MK-6 and Retro-Guard Spray-Applied Fireproofing were tested as part of fire resistance rated assemblies for floor-ceiling, roof-ceiling, steel columns, steel beams, and non-bearing walls under ASTM E 119. The assemblies are listed in Section 5. INSTALLATION.

Monokote Type MK-6 and [email protected] Spray-Applied Fireproofing are used to provide fire resistance ratings for structural members, floor/ceiling, roof/ceiling, and non-load bearing wall assemblies in buildings of any type construction.

INSTALLATION

General

The manufacturer's published application instructions and the U.L. Fire Resistance Rating Design Specifications on the assembly being constructed shall be strictly adhered to and a copy of these instructions shall be available at the job site during installation. 5.2 Fire Resistance Rated Assemblies

The UL Design Nos. in Table 1 are listed in the Underwriters Laboratories Inc. Fire Resistance Directory. The assemblies shall be installed in accordance with their listing to obtain the desired fire resistance rating. See Limitation No. 9.2 of this report.

The Committee on Evaluation in review of the data submitted finds that, in their opinion, the Monokote Type MK-6 and RetroGuard Spray-Applied Fireproofing as described in this report conform with or are suitable alternates to that specified in the Standard Building [email protected], the Standard Mechanical [email protected], the International Mechanical [email protected], the Florida Building Code 2001 -Building and the Florida Building Code 2001 Mechanical or Supplements thereto.

LIMITATIONS This Evaluation Report and the installation instructions, when required by the building official, shall be submitted at the time of permit application. Monokote Type MK-6 and Retro-Guard Spray-Applied Fireproofing shall be applied in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and the Underwriters Laboratories Fire Resistance Directory for the assembly it is used in. The density and thickness shall be inspected after application in accordance with Section 1709 of the Standard Building [email protected] Unless specified under the individual designs and on the UL Classification cards as being suitable for exterior use applications, Monokote Type MK-6 and RetroGuard Spray-Applied Fireproofing are intended for interior use applications only. The scope of this report does not include the engineering design of the structural framing systems.
