I. General Eligibility Requirements for the PV Technical Sales Certification

InordertobeeligiblefortheNABCEPPVTechnical SalesCertification,applicantsmustsatisfythe followingrequirements: · Beatleast18yearsofage; · CompletetheOSHA10HourConstructionTrainingCourseClass(acertificateofcoursecompletionmustbesubmittedwithapplication); · Satisfyatleastone(1)ofthequalifyingcertificationeligibilitycategories(QualifyingCategories) identifiedbelow; · CompletetheNABCEPPVTechnicalSales CertificationExaminationApplication(printedor onlineapplication); · AccepttheNABCEPCodeofEthics&Standards ofConduct; · PayapplicableApplicationfees;and, · AchieveapassingscoreontheNABCEPPV TechnicalSalesCertificationExamination. priortoapplyingfortheNABCEPPVTechnical SalesCertification;and, · AchieveapassingscoreontheNABCEPPVEntry LevelExamination. B.Qualifying Category 2 · Atleastthirty-two(32)cumulativehoursoftrainingdirectlyrelatedtothesubjectsidentifiedinthe NABCEPPVTechnicalSalesJobTaskAnalysis; · Verifiablesalesexperience,includingthecompletionofatleasteight(8)solarPVsystemsalesproposalswithinthetwenty-four(24)monthperiod priortoapplyingfortheNABCEPPVTechnical SalesCertification;and, · AchieveapassingscoreontheNABCEPPVEntry LevelExamination. C.Qualifying Category 3 · AssociatesDegreefromanaccreditededucational institutioninrenewableenergytechnologyor relatedfieldofstudy; · Verifiablesalesexperience,includingthecompletionofatleastfour(4)solarPVsystemsalesproposalswithinthetwelve(12)monthperiodprior toapplyingfortheNABCEPPVTechnicalSales Certification;and, · AchieveapassingscoreontheNABCEPPVEntry LevelExamination. D.Qualifying Category 4 · BachelorsDegreefromanaccreditededucational institution;and, · Verifiablesalesexperience,includingthecompletionofatleastfour(4)solarPVsystemsalesproposalswithinthetwelve(12)monthperiodprior toapplyingfortheNABCEPPVTechnicalSales Certification. E.Qualifying Category 5 · CurrentlycredentialedasaNABCEPCertified SolarPVInstalleringoodstanding;or,

II. PV Technical Sales Certification Eligibility Categories

TheNABCEPBoardofDirectorsandPVTechnicalSalesTechnicalCommitteehaveestablishedthe followingseven(7)QualifyingCategoriesforthe NABCEPPVTechnicalSalesCertification.Applicants mustsatisfyatleastone(1)ofthefollowingcategories inordertoqualifyforcertification. A.Qualifying Category 1 · Atleastsixty(60)cumulativehoursoftraining directlyrelatedtothesubjectsidentifiedinthe NABCEPPVTechnicalSalesCertificationJob TaskAnalysis; · Verifiablesalesexperience,includingthecompletionofatleastfour(4)solarPVsystemsales proposalswithinthetwelve(12)monthperiod

NOTE: A minimum of thirty (30) hours of additional training in non-installation aspects of the PV Technical Sales Job Task Analysis is strongly recommended. F.Qualifying Category 6 · CurrentlylicensedasanelectricianintheStatein whichtheapplicantperformshis/heroccupationalactivities;and, · AchieveapassingscoreontheNABCEPPVEntry LevelExamination. NOTE: A minimum of thirty (30) hours of additional training in all aspects of the PV Technical Sales Job Task Analysis is strongly recommended. G.Qualifying Category 7 · Verifiablesalesexperience,includingthecompletionofatleasttwenty(20)solarPVsystemsales proposalswithinthesixty(60)monthperiodprior toapplyingfortheNABCEPPVTechnicalSales Certification;and, · Atleastfive(5)yearsofcumulative,documented solarPVsystemssales-relatedexperience. NOTE: A minimum of thirty (30) hours of additional training in all aspects of the PV Technical Sales Job Task Analysis is strongly recommended.

III. Verifiable Sales Experience/ Definitions and Documentation Supporting Experience

A. Definitions

1.VerifiableSalesExperience Verifiablesalesexperience=Activelyengagedin solarPVsystemssales-relatedactivities,includingthe completionofthenumberofsolarPVsystemproposalsrequiredbytheapplicant'sQualifyingCategory. See,SectionII. Foreachofthefour(4)solarPVsystemproposalsto becompletedineachtwelve(12)monthperiodprior toapplyingforNABCEPPVTechnicalSalesCertification,thefollowingrequirementsapply: · Atleasttwo(2)musthaveresultedincompleted salesandinstallation; · Atleast2mustrelatetosystemslargerthan2kW DC(peak); · Atleast1oftheinstallationsmustbeasystemthat isgridconnected;and, · Nomorethan1proposalmaybesubmittedto arelativeorsomeoneresidingattheapplicant's address.Thisproposalmusthaveresultedina completedsalesandinstallation. Qualifying Category 7 Applicantmustsubmitdocumentationshowingat least20proposalscompletedina60-monthperiod priortoapplyingforcertification,includingatleast: 10resultingincompletedsalesandinstallation;10that relatetosystemslargerthan2kW(peak);and,5that aregridconnected. 2.SolarPVSystemsSales-RelatedActivities Engaginginthesaleand/ordesignofsolarPVsystems,includingbutnotlimitedto,individualsemployedassalesmanagers,siteanalysts,systemdesigners,technicalsupportpersonnel,andprojectfinance analysts. 3.SolarPVSystemsSalesProposals Salesproposalsmustincludethefollowinginformation:proposedPVsystemsizeinkW;evidenceofa shadeanalysis;theamountofkWhthePVsystemis expectedtoproduceannually;therevenuethatthe electricitygeneratedwillproduce;thetotalcostof thesystem;anyincentiveortaxbenefitsthatmaybe appliedtothetotalcost.Additionalinformationmay includetheinternalrateofreturn(IRR),paybackperiod,cashflowoverthelifeofthesystem,non-financialbenefits,andanyincomethatwillbegainedfrom renewableenergycredits.

B. Documentation of Verifiable Sales Experience

1.ProposalDocumentation ForeachoftheQualifyingCategoriesrequiringverifiablesalesexperience,anapplicantmustsubmitthe identifiednumberofsalesproposalsforsolarPVsystems,consistentwiththerequirementsofSectionIII.A. AllsolarPVsystemsclaimedmustbeaccompaniedby acompleteandaccuratecopyoftheoriginalproposal. See,definitionof"proposal"inSectionIII.A.3.Ifthe applicant'snameisnotidentifiedonaproposal,then

3.CustomerLetters Ifthesystemhasbeensoldbutnotinstalled,theapplicantmustsubmitasignedletter(emailswillnot beaccepted)fromthecustomerstatingthathe/she issatisfiedwiththesalesprocessandthepurchased solarPVsystem. 4.AdditionalInformationandDocumentation ApplicantsmayalsoattachphotographsofthesolarPVsystemassupplementaldocumentation.All proposalsandrelatedproprietaryinformationwillbe treatedasconfidential. Whencompletingtheapplication,applicantswill beaskedtodescribethescopeofworkhe/shewas responsibleforoneachinstallation.NABCEPreserves therighttocontactsystemowners/operators,permittingauthorities,andresponsiblecontractorstoverify worklistedintheApplication.TheNABCEPApplicationReviewCommitteewillmakedecisionsregarding applicanteligibilitybasedontheApplicationinformationanddocumentationsubmittedinsupportofthe Application.

b.Activitiesinwhichastudentisengagedina plannedlearningevent,receivesfeedbackconcerning his/herprogress,andthestudent'sprogressismonitored.Insomecases,suchactivitiesmaybedistance learning,i.e.,thestudentisseparatedfromfacultyand otherstudents.Examplesincludecomputer-assisted instruction,interactivevideo/CD/DVD,and/orwebsitelearning. 2.TrainingCoversPVTechnicalSalesJobTaskAnalysisSubjects Thetrainingmustdirectlyrelatetothesubjects identifiedintheNABCEPPVTechnicalSalesJobTask Analysis.

B. Acceptable Training Providers

Acceptabletrainingprovidersinclude,butarenot limitedto: 1.AneducationalinstitutionaccreditedbyanaccreditationorganizationrecognizedbytheU.S.Department ofEducation(e.g.,universitiesandcommunitycolleges)orasimilarCanadiangovernmentagency; 2.Independentrenewableenergytrainingprograms. NOTE:NABCEPrecommendsthatapplicantsconsidertrainingcoursesaccreditedbyIRECundertheISPQ Standard,ortaughtbyinstructorscertifiedbyIREC. Pleasevisitwww.IRECusa.orgforfullcourselistings; 3.Apprenticeshiptrainingprogramsrecognizedbythe U.S.DepartmentofLabororequivalentprograms,or thoserecognizedbyaCanadiangovernmentagency; 4.TrainingprogramsapprovedbyStateorProvincial ContractorLicensingBoards;and, 5.Vocationaltechnicaltrainingprograms. IV. Training Requirement for the PV Technical Sales Certification

ApplicantsapplyingthroughQualifyingCategories 1and2mustsubmitdocumentationsupportingthe requiredcumulativehoursoftrainingdirectlyrelated tothesubjectsidentifiedintheNABCEPPVTechnical SalesJobTaskAnalysis.

A. Acceptable Training

NABCEPwillaccepttrainingthatmeetsthefollowing requirements: 1.FormalTrainingFormat.Thetrainingprogrammust haveaformaltrainingformat,whichincludesateacher-studentstructure,i.e.,astudentandaninstructing source.Acceptabletrainingformatsmayinclude: a.In-person/classroomtrainingcoursesledbyan instructorand/ordiscussionleader;or,

VI. About the NABCEP PV Entry Level Examination Requirement

QualifyingCategories1,2,3,and6requireanapplicant tosuccessfullypasstheNABCEPPVEntryLevelExamination,whichdemonstratesabasicunderstanding ofPVsystemdesignandinstallation.TheNABCEPPV EntryLevelExaminationisnotacertificationexam. Trainingcoursesdirectlyrelatedtopreparationforthe NABCEPPVEntryLevelExaminationwillnotcount towardstherequisitecumulativetraininghoursfor QualifyingCategories1and2unlesssubjectsidentifiedinthePVTechnicalSalesJobTaskAnalysis(JTA) arecoveredbysuchcourses.Inorderforsuchtraining courseworktobeacceptedbyNABCEP,theapplicant mustsubmitdocumentationsignedbythecourseinstructororprogramadministratordetailingthematerial coveredandtimespentcoveringPVTechnicalSalesJTA subjects.See,SectionV.A.
