We start with Adding WDS role. Add WDS role

Click on check box and click next

Click Next

Click Close after successfully installation.

Go to start Menu Administrative Tools Windows Deployment Services.

After Opening of WDS, click on Configure Server.

Click Next

After clicking we get a warning, we don't bother about that because we are working on LAB, so click on Yes and proceed.

If our DHCP server and WDS are on same server we need to select on both check box.

Click on respond to all known and unknown computers

Server is being configured.

Uncheck the add images to the server box and click next finish.

Done!! Now our server is ready for next configuration

Click on Boot Images for adding Boot Image File.

Right click on Boot Image and click on add boot image.

Browse the location where is Windows 7 DVD copied/ Or DVD drive where is Win7 DVD inserted. I am using my DVD drive.

Open DVD drive and go to SOURCES folder and select boot.wim file.

Click next

Provide Logical name and click Next (I am using INSTALL IMAGE)

Now we are Adding Boot image file on WDS server.

Click finish after IMAGE is added successfully.

You can verify recently added IMAGE.

After adding image successfully we need to add creating Capture Image, right click on INSTALL IMAGE and choose create Capture Image.

Provide logical Name to that and click on Browse.

Browse c:\RemoteInstall folder and provide CaptureImage name to that Image.

Click Next.

After clicking on next here the Capture Image File is extracting and creates capture Image Files.

Now Image is created successfully.

We have to add newly created Capture Image which is located at c:\RemoteInstall folder.

Browse the location.

Select the captured file named wim file.

Click Next.

Now the image is added successfully and our 1st Phase is completed.

Next we have to create Image group. 1st we have create one Image Group.

I am using name for Image Group (IMAGE GROUP)

Cool, now our 1st Phase is completed. Next I am going to Sysprep Win7 Machine which is ready with MS office 2010 and other Third Party Application. Here is my Apps ready Machine.

Open C drive and go to WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SYSPREP

Open the Sysprep Folder and double click on Sysprep file. Select OOBE Option and click on Generalize BOX. We need to select Shut down option. Then click OK.

Now Sysprep is working. It will take some time, and shutdown. Do not start that machine.

2nd Phase is now complete.

Ok let's come to our 3rd VM which is able to boot with network.

After boot with Network it will take IP from DHCP server, here we have to click F12 for connection with WDS boot.

Now after boot we can see this screen

With Help of UP/DOWN Arrow Key select to Capture an IMAGE and press enter. Now files are loading

After few seconds you see this screen. Click next

Here is your C drive is currently changed to drive latter D: and C: is your 100MB system recovery drive. That's really cool. We need to select volume to capture here is shown only that Volume which have to Capture only.

Provide valid name to that Image file. I am using Win7x64.

Here we have to enter location where we have saved our image And we have connected to the server where WDS server is configured. Which means we have to put the name of our WDS server Name. And the 3rd is Image Group name which it will search automatically, because we have already created IMAGE GROUP on our WDS server. Let's see on followings picture.


Enter Network Password: I use Freshnet\Administrator Password!1

After successful connection with our WDS server, we can see here the created IMAGE GROUP. Select and click on next.

Now start the image capturing.

After capturing image will going to upload on WDS server IMAGE GROUP.

Go to WDS server and see Image is uploaded successfully on IMAGE GROUP.

OK, here we completed our 3rd Phase. Start Playing with WAIK 2.0 and start working with Uploaded IMAGE. Open WAIK tool. Start All Program Microsoft WAIK .

Create a New Folder on C: Drive and provide logical name I am using [WORKING WAIK].

Create a new Distribution Share.

And select that recently created folder.

Go to WDS SERVER select Image Group

select Uploaded IMAGE right click on that image and select Export IMAGE

Export that IMAGE to newly created folder named WORKING WAIK on C: drive.

After Exported Image Close WDS console. Open WAIK 2.0 and select Windows Image

Open Image which is recently exported to WAIK 2.o WORKING WAIK folder. Select Win7 Captured Image.

Now we have got warning about Catalog File, Click yes. After clicking on Yes Waik tool creates a new catalog for WIM file.

Here we have added successfully WIM file with catalog.

Expand Components

Create a new Answer Files.

Choose Microsoft International Core and right click and add settings to Pass1 WindowsPE.

And set like this

Validate Answer File

After validation Please Save that file to c:\RemoteInstall\WDSUNATTEND\ folder with valid name. I am using [WDS001.xml]

Open WDS Console

Right click on WDS server and open properties

Go to client and check on enable unattended installation box.

Open and browse x64 architecture and find newly created WDS001.XML file from c:\remoteinstall\wdsunattend folder.

Apply and click OK.

Ok next back to WAIK tool.

Choose windows Shell Setup

Choose add setting to pass specialize.

Add information as shown in the picture You can change owner name

Choose again international Core and right click and select Add settings to pass 7 Oobe-system.

Fill like that

Add local account settings to oobe and configure like this

And password field choose your password. I am using [password!1]

Validate and SAVE on same location where previously saved and provide logical name.

Close waik and go to WDS console. Choose Install Image IMAGE GROUP IMAGE properties

Enable allow image to install in unattended mode and select the newly second one created file from c:\remoteinstall\wdsunattend\ folder

Cool now we ready to deploy capture Image to new machine.

Start 3rd VM and boot with network support.

Insert your domain administrator and password here.

Now System is ready

Finally we have deployed captured Win7 with application image to new system.
