Senior Environmental Specialist

NNEPA-Air Quality Control/Operating Permit Program WORKSITE LOCATION: POSITION TYPE: Permanent: Temporary: Part-Time: Duration: No. of Hrs/Wk: 40 Fort Defiance, Arizona GRADE: SALARY: $ $ 42,182.40 20.28 Per Annum Per Hour J660A

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, design, and implement the Navajo Air Monitoring Network. Implementation tasks, include establishing monitoring sites, procurring instruments and equipment installation of instruments. Network implementation tasks include data, existing guidelines, and apply them to create supporting documents on permit program such as cost, program activities. Update documents and revise according to reviewer comments; complete reviews and do follow ups. Assist with on site compliance inspections on major sources, minor sources, including coal mines, utility power plants, and natural gas companies. assist with onsite inspections related to public complaints, and compliance with Navajo Clean Air Act. Assist other staff in Operating Permit, regulations in implementing the part 71 program by review of permits, participate in commenting, public workshops, and public hearings. Fill in where personnel is needed. Participate in Navajo EPA department functions, community, environmental education; coordinate and participate in the annual clean up of activities, and attend staff meetings. Respond to community complaints and assist other Navajo EPA, in combinations of media complaints. Conduct outreach, training sessions on program and related areas of assignment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Education and Training: A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, or closely related field. Experience: Four years of experience working with environmental programs and/or projects; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the capabilities to perform the described duties. (To receive full credit for education/training applicant must submit copies of college transcript, certificate, diploma, etc.) Preferred: Three (3) years of Experience in Environmental or related field. Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of federal & tribal environmental laws; use of computer applications and ancillary equipment, skill in the use of specialized equipment used in the detection of environmental pollutants.

License/Certification Requirements: PREFERRED: Valid Driver Licence
