1310 nm Broadcast Transmitter

Introduction

Motorola's OmniStar GX2-LM1000E* Broadcast Transmitter is part of the OmniStar GX2 fiber optic broadband transmission platform for headend and hub locations, which supports advanced broadband hybrid fiber/coaxial telecommunications systems. The GX2-LM1000E* is a series of highperformance, directly modulated, 1310 nm distributed feedback (DFB) laser transmitters that carry video, voice, and data services across the full band from 47 MHz to 1000 MHz. The transmitter is available in optical output powers from 2 dBm to 15 dBm. Installation

The transmitter offers advanced features that enable its use with specific network configurations. To use the default settings for out-of-the-box operation with minimal set-up: 1. Remove the transmitter from the packaging. 2. Clean the optical bulkhead fitting on the transmitter and clean the interface fiber jumper optical connector. 3. Insert the optical interface connector into the bulkhead on the front of module. 4. Install the transmitter into the OmniStar GX2-HSG* chassis. 5. Connect the appropriate RF cable(s) to the RF input F-type connector(s) on the rear of the GX2-HSG* chassis. The broadcast input is the top port and the narrowcast input (if used) is the bottom port. Install a 75-ohm terminator on any unused RF input ports. The total RF power must be at least 34 dBmV.

The narrowcast RF input port requires a +6 dBmV higher RF input level than the broadcast RF input port to be equivalent. Note: The factory default operating mode is Preset/Video Automatic Gain Control mode which will automatically attenuate the RF signal to optimal levels for standard channel loading.
