Compression Made to Measure

Standard-type cylinders, with amply dimensioned cooling water and gas chambers, involve very low velocities within the chamber, almost no measurable pulsation, smooth cooling, high dampening and consequently longer piston and guide ring and valve life times. Form, material and fixation of the pistons are such that existing dynamic forces or stresses are absorbed without any problems.

Strong Crank Drive for Long Maintenance Intervals

Proven long-term drive mechanism parts, such as crosshead, crosshead bolt, connecting rod and crankshaft and properly selected materials for dynamically and statically stressed parts warrant a smooth running of the motion work and longer life. The oil coolers mounted in the drive mechanism prevent premature wear. The dynamically balanced crankshaft is equipped with roller bearings. Form and material have been selected such that existing starting moments can be absorbed without any problems. Sufficient oil supply to the appropriate lubricating points in the motion work is provided by a properly proportioned force-feed lubrication system, consisting of mechanical pump, oil filter and well dimensioned pipes.

Highly Effective Oil Draining

A highly effective oil wiper packing warrants oil-free operation between motion work and distance piece. Furthermore, in combination with an extra long, stroke-free distance piece and an additional oil scraper ring on the piston rod, it is guaranteed that the agent to be compressed will be absolutely free of oil. Large assembly openings at the motion work provide quick accessibility to all parts for the purpose of maintenance.

Complete Water Separation

Separators of galvanized materials or of high-grade steel provide complete separation of the accumulating condensate ­ without resultant rust formation. Large capacity receivers are provided to reduce pressure loss and simultaneously maintain the separating process. The condensate is continuously drained off by means of automatic traps and is fed to a common condensate main, which is piped up to the edge of the skid.

CO2 Recovery: The Classical Unit

For breweries, besides their initial supply of CO2, the recovery of CO2 from their own fermentation process is another profitable possibility to satisfy

their CO2 demand. Apart from advantages in price and environmental technology of the recovered carbon dioxide, the main purpose is improved quality, as the purity of this gas is a factor in the quality of beer and soft drinks. Major factories producing a surplus of CO2 achieve a gas purity of up to 99.998% with such recovery plants.

"All Inclusive: The Packaged Unit"

Our scope of supply offers as an option the oilfree, water-cooled reciprocating compressor as an individual bare unit or a complete CO2 compressor system, designed and built by NEA or by the CO2 plant constructors. In a turnkey plant, all the accessories noted below would be mounted on a skid: + electrical motor + heat exchanger with separator and trap + gas- / water-side interconnecting piping + instrumentation + monitoring / safety devices + starter.

The Demand is for Purity

To the last detail, NEA compressors comply with this demand for purity. The oil-free, two-stage compressor, with its proven high standards for the recycle CO2 reliquefaction process, provides + clarification + compression + drying + reliquefaction, and + filling of the gas at pressures of 19-21 bar (a), along with flow rates of up to 2,400 kg/hr. There is no longer any need to dispose of waste or to filter and separate oil and water, as the core of this system is a highly effective reciprocating compressor with proven nonlube materials. Design and nature of the material of the PTFE piston rings, packing rings, valves and of the extra-long, stroke-free distance piece remove any capillary action and assure high quality of the oil-free compressed CO2. Several preventive measures have been taken to protect NEA compressors against the corrosiveness of wet CO2 gas. All parts in contact with the gas, such as pipes and valves, are made of high quality stainless steel. To protect piston ring faces, the cylinder liners are made of Ni-Resist, as required.

Special Design of CO2 Plants

The NEA GROUP not only meets the demand of the CO2 market, but also serves the purpose for high-pressure plants operating non-lubricated, with pressures up to 160 bar (2350 psig) and flow rates of up to 50,000 kg/hr. Such plants are used, for example, in the food industry or in wood working to extract CO2, as is done during impregnation processes. Using the solid NEA running gears of the process gas units, besides the typical standard series, these special plants are designed according to the individual specifications of the client and can be supplied as turnkey plants, if requested.
