MR. BRICOLAGE COMPANY IN NIS

Nis City Mayor Mr. Milos Simonovi, French ambassador in Serbia Jan Francoa Terral, Bulgarian ambassador Georgi Dimitrov and the representatives of Mr. Bricolage Company in Nis Bruno Kantoni and Milen Hristov placed the foundation of the future hypermarket Mr. Bricolage in the Boulevard Medijana in Nis.

It is the first Serbian hypermarket of this famous trading chain based on the system "do it your self". The logistical center for the company activities coordination will be a part of hypermarket facilities. Mayor of Nis Milos Simonovi stressed the importance of this investment because a foreign company decided to build its first facility in Serbia right here in Nis. The Mayor Simonovi said that this investment worth 9 million euros

would bring employment to 140 new workers, 90 in this year and 50 in the next year. He stressed that the construction would be completed by November, when the official opening was expected. According to the Mayor's words, the opening of the hypermarket would not only employ new people, but would also open the door for coming of new companies from Bulgaria and France to this market, because since it has been proved that

www.ni.rs foreign companies could function well in Nis City business environment. The Mayor also said that the City generated the income by collecting communal fees. The Mr. Bricolage Company paid already 1 million euros into city cashbox.

REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION SOUTH FOUNDED

The Agreement on founding the Regional Development Association South was signed at Nis City Hall. The basic objective of this association is implementing projects with the aim to improve the development of the municipalities in the Nisava, Pirot and Toplica district. The Agreement was signed by 20 stakeholders from governmental, non-governmental and economy sectors from three Serbian districts. The development association was formed by the City of Nis, Municipality of Aleksinac, Municipality of Gadzin Han, Municipality of Merosina, Municipality of Dimitrovgrad, Municipality of Babusnica, Municipality of Pirot, Municipality of Kursumlija, Municipality of Prokuplje, Municipality of Blace, the company Tigar, the company Jurofungo, NGO ENECA -Nis, Center for Civic Society Development Protecta, Center for Civic Society Development Milenijum, Media Reform Center Nis, NGO Inicijative - Prokuplje, Business Center Nis and European Movement in Serbia - Nis. This development association will implement regional development policies which will be defined by the association founders and it will work on the realization of common regional interests.

French ambassador in Serbia Jan Francoa Terral pointed out that the opening of the French company in Nis was the form of the actual support to Serbia on its way to EU.

The 5.000 square-meter-big hypermarket Mr. Bricolage will offer more than 50.000 articles for the decorations of the flats, gardens and workrooms. The hypermarket will be built on two-acre parcel of land and it is expected to be built by the end of November this year.

The basic objectives are: the support to the institutionalized efforts for achieving sustainable, efficient and legal framework suited for the attraction of foreign investments; the active participation of the institutions and companies from Nisava, Pirot and Toplica districts in the processes of integration Serbia into EU; the cooperation with other regional, national and international institutions with the objective to facilitate regional development. The association will create strategic regional projects. The priority will be the infrastructural projects. Nis City Mayor Milos Simonovi said that he expected all founders to have proactive approach and to join efforts in order to access the available funds for the realization of the regional development projects.

NIS CITY OPENS DEPARTMENT FOR CAPITAL INVESTMENTS

In accordance with the signed contract on the implementation of the development project with LEDIB programme, the City of Nis will form the Department for Capital Investments.

Nis City applied this project to be financed through LEDIB programme funds. The main project objective is the modernisation of the city administration and the establishing of good relations with business environment. The purpose of this new department is to facilitate faster administration of the procedures in the investing processes, to inform the public timely and accurately about current investments into city capital facilities, to analyse data and their usage with the purpose of taking the

future steps and initiatives in the area of planning and construction and to create good business climate image. The total value of the project is 2.034.850,00 dinars. The contribution of Nis City is 562.000,00 dinars. The implementation of this project will help the City of Nis to improve the process of capital investments through administratively facilitated investing procedures with the final objective of empowering the city infrastructure and opening new jobs.

17 LEDIB CONTRACTS ON PROJECT REALISATION IN NISAVA DISTRICT SIGNED

Within the implementation of LEDIB Programme in Nisava District, 17 contracts on the realization of development projects in the City of Nis, in five city municipalities and in six other municipalities from Nisava district were signed.

The objective of LEDIB programme is well balanced economic development on the territory of Nisava district with the specific objective of increasing the employment rate. 26 project proposals were submitted for approval out of which 17 were chosen for the implementation. The total value of the 17 projects is 30 million dinars. The end date of all projects is envisaged for the end of 2009. The City of Nis and the municipalities from Nisava district will be engaged on the strategies for the development of small and medium sized enterprises in the following months. The new public call for project proposal submitting will be announced at the beginning of 2010. The following projects were approved to be implemented in the City of Nis and in five city municipalities: Promotion of Entrepreneurial Skills in Professional High Schools, Weekly SME Newsletter in Narodne Novine, Development of City of Nis Tourism Strategy, Establishment of Department for Capital Investments, Business Service Center, Career Development Office, Establishment of Entrepreneurship Development Center.

DEVELOPING ENTERPRENURIAL SPIRIT IN PROFESSIONAL SECONDARY SCHOOLS

Nis City Council decided to realise the project ­ Promotion of the Entrepreneurial Skills in Professional Secondary schools which would be financed through LEDIB Programme. The project objective is building capacities of professional secondary schools so that they could be better prepared to respond to the needs of contemporary local labour market. Another objective is the promotion and acceptance of the entrepreneurial skills among professional secondary school pupils. It implies additional classes focused on IT skills related to entrepreneurial skill development. The total value of the project is 2.368.700,00 dinars. The contribution from Nis City is 936.000,00 dinars. The implementing partners in the project are: City of Nis, City Municipalities Medijana, Palilula, Pantelej, Crveni Krst, Niska Banja and 12 professional secondary schools (Secondary School of Electronics Nikola Tesla, Secondary School of Electronics Mija Stanimirovi, Secondary School of Mechanics 15. maj, Secondary School of Polytechnics 12. februar, Seconadry School of Civil Engineering Neimar, Secondary School of Culinary, Secondary School of Fashion and Beauty, Secondary School of Medicine, Secondary School of Art, Secondary School of Tourism and Secondary School of Trade. The aim of these extra curricula activities is to prepare students better for the contemporary society needs. The teaching staff will be empowered to introduce novelties in the secondary school official curricula.

TOURISM DEVELOPEMENT STRATEGY LEADING TO NEW JOBS

With the aim of creating favourable business environment for the development of small and medium sized enterprises the City of Nis will develop the Nis City Tourism Development Strategy.

Nis City signed the contract with LEDIB Programme for the implementation of this project. The basic project objective is the promotion and development of Nis City Tourism. This strategy will be based on Republic of Serbia Development Tourism Strategy. The implementation of this project will open the possibilities for building capacities of small and medium sized enterprises in the area of tourism and capacities of Nis Touristic Organisation. The total value of the project is 2.081.740,00 dinars. Nis City contribution is 601.740,00 dinars.

WEB SERVICE FOR POTENTIAL INVESTMENT PRESENTATION OPENED

The City of Nis opened the electronic web service with review of the locations where construction of residential and office premises is planned.

ENVIROMENT PROTECTION COUNCIL FORMED

"The protection of environment represents important segment for the City of Nis because of the intention of the city to apply system approach to creating conditions which will contribute to the improvement of life quality in the city", said Nis City Mayor Milos Simonovi at the meeting of the first session of the Environment Protection Council. The constitution session was held on the World Day of the Environment Protection. The Mayor Simonovi pointed out that it was necessary for all of us to change our habits and to adjust and apply all the laws recently adopted by Serbian National Parliament through the activities of the Council. The City undertook certain steps in the previous 9 months attempting to resolve the accumulated problems through actual projects. The City of Nis and the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs initiated work on bankable feasibility Study for the waste waters treatment plant. The construction of new regional landfill is also envisaged as well as the reconstruction of the existing one.

The data about the investment finances, potential investors, location and premises and facilities can be obtained from this web service.

This web service will provide the transparency in the functioning of the local administration and the control over the illegal construction in Nis City. EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH EU STANDARDS

Related to the new law on primary and secondary education in Serbia, the Republic of Serbia Ministry of Education and the City of Nis held the public debate at Nis City Hall.

The Minsiter of education Mr. Zarko Obradovi attended the presentation of this new Law. According to Minister Obradovi, this new Law with his sub-provisions brings many novelties in the education system and these innovations are necessary if we want to follow the EU standards. Actually these four new laws: Law on Pupil and Student Standard, Low on School Books, Low on Preschool Educationa and Law on Adult Education must be in mutual accordance to cover the system of more than 1.200.000 users. The Law on Pupil and Student Standard must be adopted to respect the provisions of Bologna declaration with reference to the exchange of students and professors. These new laws will make sure that everybody has the right to education without any discrimination. Special attention will be paid to talented students. The public debate was attended by the directors of primary and secondary schools who gave their suggestions related to particular law provisions.

The Mayor Simonovi stressed that it was expected from Environment Protection Council to prepare strategic documents so that the city could be ready to use the pre-accession EU funds.

NIS ­ NEW ATTRACTIVE LOCATION ON THE INVESTMENT MAP OF SERBIA

Nis City Mayor Milos Simonovi presented the investment potentials to the members of American Chamber of Commerce.

The possibilities of Spanish investments into railroad traffic, into waste management and usage of renewable energy sources were the main topics during the discussions between Nis City Mayor Milos Simonovi and the Spanish ambassador Ignacio de Palacio Espana. Mayor Simonovi used this opportunity to present economic potentials of Nis city and of whole region. "It is impossible to expect good results if you do not represent the city in the right way and if you do not try to reach as many people as you can. That is the task I set for myself and for my colleagues with the objective to bring as many companies to invest into our city and to open new job vacancies", said Mayor Simonovi. Ambassador Espana mentioned that he discussed the Serbian regionalization policy with Mayor Simonovi as well as the priorities of the future economic cooperation between the City of Nis and cities in Spain. "I will research the options to bring Spanish companies to Serbia and to Nis", said ambassador Espana. The ambassador was very optimistic about the liberalization of the visa regime for the citizens of Serbia. Spain will start the presidency of EU from January 1, 2010 and the ambassador hopes that the citizens of Serbia will be able to travel to Europe without visas.

On this occasion Mayor Simonovi said the City of Nis represented the fresh spot on the investment map of Serbia and that he was convinced that the future investors could make use of city advantages. "The City is ready to welcome the investors interested in the South of Serbia. The unique trait of Nis City is the fact that we have specific investment locations and we have simplified the procedures for obtaining necessary permits", said Mayor Simonovi.

The mayor announced NIF09 Nis Investment Forum which would be focused this year on the areas of transport and tourism. The president of American Chamber of Commerce in Serbia, Mr. Skip Bournhitter, pointed out that the cooperation between the local self-governments and private sector was of vital importance for economic development, for the creation of new jobs and for improving the living standards of citizens. The construction of infrastructure, the zone definition and construction permits issuing were some of the areas where local administrations could do a lot in order to attract investments. American Chamber of Commerce comprises 180 foreign and domestic companies which have invested over 6 billion dollars and employed more than 60 000 workers. The mission of American Chamber of Commerce is to promote best American practice, values and responsible partnership between USA and Serbia which leads to economic development through trade and investments.

90 NIS CITIZENS RECEIVED HELP FOR START-UP BUSINESSES

Within the project "Support to Local Sustainable Development in South Serbia" which is financed by the Royal Netherlands Embassy and the Republic of Germany Embassy in Serbia, with the financial support of the local self-governments, 90 citizens signed the Contract on donation with humanitarian organisation HELP.

HUMANITARIAN AID FOR SOCIALLY DEPRIVED CITIZENS OF NIS

The Nis City honorary citizen Mrs. Kyriaky Panagiotidy came with three trucks full of humanitarian help intended for the deprived citizens. The humanitarian help was gathered by two Greek municipalities: Alimos and Amaroussion. The humanitarian assistance will be distributed to the Nis City social care institutions which did not receive any kind of assistance before. Those institutions are Day Care for Old People, boarding school for the children with impaired hearing, Mara Institution, the shelter for the children living in the streets. A part of this humanitarian assistance is intended for the Care Home for Old and Disabled People located in Doljevac since nobody showed any kind of interest. The people accomodated there are living in very difficult conditions. The baby food which was sent in the package of humanitarian aid is intended for Children Surgical Department at Nis Clinic Center.

"The City of Nis joined this programme for the first time this year and contributed 90.000,00 to the project realisation", said Nis City Mayor Milos Simonovi. He added that the programme initially envisaged the support to 80 citizens. However, since the interest was so great, the City decided to support on its own another 10 citizens from the agriculture sector. The German Ambassador in Serbia Mr. Wolfram Maas said that the objective of this project was to support the individual with good business ideas so that they could start their own small companies and enter the markets. The practice showed that 70% of the HELP clients who started their small companies in 2001 and onwards were still operational. The Ambassador of Netherlands in Serbia Mr. Ron Van Dartel said that it was just one of many activities that the Embassy was supporting and that the participation of Nis City in this project contributed to the participation of the Embassy in this project.

The director of HELP organisation in Serbia Timo Stadelmann said that all local self governments involved in the project were financially contributing to the project realisation. However, the financial participation of Nis City was the biggest which was reflected on the number of citizens who were supported by the project. The citizens who signed the Contract on donation would receive the equipment or supplies in the value of 2.000,00 euros. Also they would undergo business and professional trainings in order to secure the sustainability of their business activities. The beneficiaries of this project will have to return 20% of the donated equipment/supplies total value. They will do 15 hours of community work. They will have to register their companies according to the laws of Republic of Serbia. They will have to undergo business trainings organised by HELP.

PEDESTRIAN ZONE EVERY SATURDAY FOR THREE HOURS

The City of Nis has been the part of the international campaign entitled Day Without Cars ever since 2001. The City of Nis is introducing the three-hour long pedestrian zone every Saturday in the city center in order to encourage the behavior which is in accordance with the sustainable development, especially in accordance with the air quality protection, decreasing the effects of the global warming, decreasing the level of noise and traffic congestion.

VISIT TO DENMARK

CITY NEWS Nis City Mayor Milos Simonovi and the presidents of four city municipalities visited the City of Aarhus in the period from June 7 to June 12, 2009. This study group was organized by LEDIB (Danish Programme for Local Economic Development) within the programme activity related to the Twinning project between the City of Nis and the City of Aarhus.

The aim of this visit was the signing of the Twinning Protocol between the City of Nis and the City of Aarhus. The Mayor of Aarhus, Nicolai Wammen hosted the reception for the representatives of Nis City authorities. The Nis City Mayor Milos Simonovi and Aarhus City Mayor Nicolai Wammen discussed the close cooperation between these two cities in developing many projects in the areas of local economic development, environment protection and tourism. On this occasion the Agreement on Cooperation on the Employment Center Project was signed. This project comprises the knowledge and long term experience from the City of Aarhus which will be implemented in the City of Nis and in all city municipalities with the support of LEDIB Programme. During this study tour the Nis City delegation visited numerous institutions which could be potential partners on the common projects. The delegation visited the City Bike Center Nis City Mayor Milos Simonovi and Aarhus City Mayor Nicolai Wammen for Free Bike Traffic, the factory for waste water treatment, Danish agriculture Counseling Center, the Center for the support to mentally disabled people. H.E. Mrs. Vida Ognjenovi, the Serbian ambassador in Denmark, hosted the reception for Nis City Mayor and city municipality presidents.

DAYS OF ST. EMPEROR CONSTANTINE AND EMPRESS HELEN

City celebrated annual festivities.

The wake was held at the Church of St. Emperor Constantine and Empress Helen within the marking of the City celebration in the presence of the city officials, Nis Eparchy dignitaries and many citizens. After the wake the Emperor's night began with Nis Eparchy Bishop Irinej symbolically delivering the Labarum to the Mayor Milos Simonovi. The Labarum is the flag which the Emperor Constantine carried into conquest of the Roman Empire. The celebration of city festivities was continued following morning by the liturgy held by Nis Bishop Irinej with the priesthood of Nis Eparchy in the Church of St. Constantine and Helena and with the procession around the St. Sava Park. The traditional procession was led by Bishop Irinej together with priesthood joined by Nis City Mayor Milos Simonovi, the Nis City Assembly president Mile Ili, other city officials, the representatives of the Serbian Army as well as numerous citizens. The procession was followed by the Orchestra of Serbian Army. Afterwards the Church Bishop Irinej cut the celebration cake and handed it over to the president of the greatest city municipality Dragoslav Cirkovic who would be the host of the city celebration following year on behalf of the City of Nis. "These days of city festivities show that the City of Nis and Nis citizens pay their respect to the history and all those who lived in this area many centuries ago", said Mayor

Simonovi and added that we were bound to this celebration also by a great responsibility and obligation that the year 2013 and 1700th anniversary of the Milan Edict would bring.

8TH SYMPOSIUM "NIS AND BYZANTIUM" EXCEEDED ALL EXPECTATIONS

"I am very delighted about this year symposium. The 8th "Nis and Byzantium" International Symposium exceeded all our expectations regarding the number of participants, which proved the great importance of this meeting in the scientific world", said the Nis City Mayor Milos Simonovi at the reception hosted for the symposium participants at the City Hall.

CHILDREN FROM KOSOVO VISITED NIS

On the occasion of the sixth Children Art Colony entitled Gracanica, the reception for the talented children from Kosovo and Metohija was organised at Nis City Hall.

"Nis is the city with rich history, and for us the most important historical fact is that the Emperor Constantine the Great was born here and that is why we are already preparing to mark in an appropriate way the year 2013, i.e., 17 centuries from the Edict of Milan signing" the Mayor pointed out. Prof. Graham Jones, a byzantologist from Oxford University in Great Britain and one of the participants at this Symposium said that 35 scientific work papers which had been presented at the symposium indicated its seriousness and confirmed that it had fulfilled its aim. The guests at reception were also addressed by Prof. Alexsios Panagopoulos from Patra, Greece, who, besides the gratitude to the City of Nis as to the symposium organizer, emphasized that the presented work papers at this year meeting were very important and interesting as well as that such research of Nis and Byzantine past, through the specific

multidisciplinary approach, contributed to connecting and strengthening of common heritage among the nations. The scientific symposium "Nis and Byzantium" which was held within the City celebration, this year was symbolically dedicated to the recently past academician Dejan Medakovi, a world known art historian and a former president of Serbian Academy of Art and Science who gave a strong support to founding and continuity of this Symposium and thus contributed to its affirmation since the very beginning in 2002. This year 44 scientists from Serbia, Republic of Srpska, Romania, Hungary, Great Britain, Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Russia and France took part in the symposium. WebSite: www.ni.rs/byzantium/

At the reception Nis City Council member Dusica Davidovi said that the door of the Nis City Hall would always be for all children who came to meet their peers from Nis and to exchange the school education experience and the experience from their own lives. The important thing is that the City of Nis will always help, according to its own capacities, the establishing of such contacts. This is a way to make the childhood of these children from Kosovo a little bit easier and painless, said Mrs. Dusica Davidovi. Gracanica Art Colony is being held in Sievo and it is attended by the children from central Kosovo. This is a great opportunity for them to hang out with the artists and children from Nis, Sievo and Prokuplje.

NIS CITIZENS VOTED FOR DJAVOLJA VAROS

About 1000 Nis citizens voted on-line for Djavolja Varos to become one of the world natural wonders at the stand in the city center installed by Nis Tourism Organisation.

SPANISH AMBASSADOR OPENED THE EXIBITION OF SALVADOR DALI'S WORKS IN NIS

Mayor of Nis Milos Simonovic hosted H.E. Mr. Ignacio de Palacio Espana, the Ambassador of Spain to Serbia. The occasion of the Spanish ambassador visit to the City of Nis was the reviving and establishing of cooperation in the fields of economy and culture. The ambassador conveyed Spanish businessmen interest in the possibilities for cooperation in the fields of communal and industrial waste disposal landfill, refinement of waste water and new technologies for renewable energy. After the reception at the City Hall, the Mayor Simonovic and H.E. Ignacio de Palacio Espana together opened the exhibition of the graphics, sculptures and the book of the Spanish artist Salvador Dali.

The Mayor Simonovi said that he was convinced that Djavolja Varos would win this competition and get the most votes. The promotion of this natural phenomenon which represents first class touristic potential not only for the municipality of Kursumlija but for the whole region of South Serbia, should be put into function of achieving this objective.

Djavolja Varos can bring back Serbia onto the world touristic map and it can contribute to economic and touristic development of the South-East Serbia region. This is the last month of voting. There are 18 days left before the announcement of the seven new world natural wonders. Djavolja Varos is ranked first in the group D consisting of rocky formations and valleys.

HUNGARIANS DAYS IN NIS

The days of Hungarian culture are marked in Nis with the aim to point out to universal art language which connects and overcomes all the differences between nations.

The favourable political relations during past years inspired the Hungarian Prime Minister Office to assist in bringing closer the nations of South and Central Europe and in strengthening cultural, friendly and business relations by enabling mutual introduction to the cultural values. Madjarart festival presented different productions which reflected the Hungarian culture in Serbia. The theatre lovers had the opportunity to see the play Therapy performed by the theatre from Subotica. The photography exhibition by Karolya Csonka could be seen at European house. The concert of garden quartet Csík Zenekar was held at Nis University Hall. The final events were the performance by Állami Népi Együttes ensemble at National theatre in Nis and the jazz concert at Nis University Hall. Nis audience could enjoy the performance of János Nagy, Freestyle Sextett and Magdolna Rúzsa. After Belgrade, Dali's works were exhibited in the Gallery of Contemporary Art in the Nis Fortress. The exhibition was supported by the Spanish Embassy and the Institute Cervantes from Belgrade.

SKI CENTRE BOJANINE VODE GOT TWO CABLE CARS

The Protocol on cooperation between the City of Nis and Public Enterprise "Skijalista Srbije" was signed at the ski centre Bojanine Vode, near Nis.

THE SPA OF TOPILO AS TOURISTIC POTENTIAL OF THE CITY

Nis City Mayor Milos Simonovi visited the city municipality Crveni Krst and the discussed with the president of this municipality Mr. Dragan Bojkovi further investments into potentials of this municipality. On this occasion the Mayor Simonovi and the municipality president Bojkovi visited the Spa of Topilo in order to check what the city could do in order to put this spa into the development function not only of the city municipality Crveni Krst but of the Nis City as well.

The Protocol was signed with support of the Republic of Serbia Ministry for Economy and it included working and technical cooperation, as well as the installation of two cable ways.

According to the words of the director of PE "Skijalista Srbije" Nebojsa Skori, this enterprise has recognized in this project a great potential for tourism development at much higher level and a serious base for training of future skiers as well.

"It is our objective to put the Spa of Topilo into the function of city municipality further development. The Spa of Topilo offers great potential for tourism development. The City will allocate the funds from the city budget to finish the road to the Spa of Topilo", said Mayor Simonovi. "The Spa of Topilo is real natural jewel and with a few investments it could generate great income to the city municipality Crveni Krst and to the City as well", said city municipality Crveni Krst president Mr. Dragan Bojkovi. The invested funds so far have been used for the construction of two bridges on the Toponicka River and for the construction of the sideways road. The sewerage pipeline which should connect the spa settlement to the technological water filter and the path with benches remain to be constructed.

BALCAN JUNIOR WATERPOLO CHAMPIONSHIP IN NIS

The City of Nis was the host of Balkan Junior Water-polo Championship this year.

The teams from Montenegro, Greece, Macedonia and Serbia competed for the title. On this occasion Mr Boban Mihajlovic, the member of Nis City Council, signed the Contract with the representatives of Water polo Serbian Federation and Nis Water polo Club on sponsoring the Balkan Junior Water polo Championship. Mihajlovi said that this championship was of extreme importance for the development of sports and sport spirit in the City of Nis. Mihajlovi added that Nis City was ready to support big sports events which was proved by the organisation of World Rafting Championship, International Semi-marathon, European Women Volleyball League matches and World Men Volleyball matches. Mihajlovi also announced the European Championship for Women Handball Cadets Teams. Serbian Water Polo Federation executive manager Mr. Dragan Solomun expressed his pleasure about the Nis City support to this championship and he added that he believed that our team could win this competition. The president of Nis Water Polo Club, Mr. Zvonimir Stankovi thanked the city for enabling the good conditions for the organisation of the Balkan Championship and he invited the citizens of Nis to come to the matches and support young water polo players.

INTERNATIONAL CYCLING RACES ,,TOUR OF SERBIA 2009"

City of Nis and the Cycling club "Zeleznicar" from Nis were the hosts of 49th International cycling race "Tour of Serbia 2009", in which 300 participants took part from all over the world. For already 6 years this race has been held under the motto "Tourism and cycling together".

NIS HOSTED SERBIAN AND FRENCH VOLLEYBALL NATIONAL TEAMS

On the occasion of Volleyball World League Match between the national teams of Serbia and France, the reception was organised at Nis City Hall for the Serbian national team management, the representatives of International Volleyball Federation and international referees.

The Nis City Council member Mr. Blagoje Bradi greeted the guests and expressed the pleasure and pride for having the match of this importance held in the City of Nis. Volleyball World League matches held in our city will contribute to the popularization of volleyball in Nis and Serbia in general. The secretary general of Serbian Volleyball Federation Mr.Slobodan Milosevi said that they were satisfied with the organization which proved that the Nis City gave its full support. Volleyball World League supervisor and the president of the European Volleyball federation, Mr. Miguel Kintana said that the national teams of Serbia and France played the best volleyball in the world. City of Nis is for the 12th time the host of this competition and if we talk about big sport events we can surely say that this cycling race is a sport institution. This year Nis became the center of the great international sport competitions and 300 cyclists from all over the world passed pass through our city, said Miodrag Radovi, a member of Nis City Council.

According to the words of the president of International cycling race "Tour of Serbia", besides its sport character, this race helps in presenting the country, its natural beauty and touristic potentials to the participants from abroad.
