Perennials and Annuals for Honeybees

JCBA is proud to announce our first annual plant sale. This year we have decided to offer both low maintenance annuals and perennials used for water conservation gardens. These plants are unmatched as attractants to bees and other pollinators. Starting mid-summer until frost these plants will provide a source of nectar and pollen when others have stopped. We are offering a pre-sale of these great garden delights for your convenience. Hope to see you there, and please check out www.njbeekeepers.org for all the needed details about the NJBA Spring Meeting as we approach the date. Cleome (Cleome hassleriana) Cleome, a member of the caper family gets its nickname "Spider Flower" from the spidery-like flowers with long, waving stamens which are held on tall, strong leafy stems. It is one of the few annuals that looks at home among shrubs and perennials. Planted in mass, they look like blooming shrubbery with an 8-inch ball of blossoms. They will reach a height of 6 feet in a good season. Cleome does well in full sun to light shade and tolerates heat and dry weather well continuing to look good through the summer.
