In August 2005, NKT was awarded the Contract to supply all flexible pipes for the Dumbarton Field Development. The Dumbarton field is located in the UK Sector of the North Sea, in block 15/20a and 15/20b. The contract consist of the following scope of supply:

NKT Flexibles I/S - flexible pipes for the future

Maersk is developing the Dumbarton field with six subsea wells and a stand-alone floating production facility, the Global Producer III (GP III), with gas and NGL's exported through the MacCullach export system by means of a tie-in at the MacCulloch PLEM. Heavy modification work was needed on the FPSO in a shipyard before being installed on Dumbarton.

Some of its topside modules were removed to provide space for more process units. New condensate treatment modules and gas compression packages were installed on the ship in 2006. The GP III arrived in the field in November 2006. The riser system contains four flexible risers all configured as a Steep-Wave. At the FPSO turret the risers will enter through I-tubes in the turret base. Each riser will be terminated at a riser base on the seabed. Accordingly, all flexible risers were delivered complete with bend stiffeners at both ends to support the steep wave configuration and bend stiffener male connection devices including wire-structure for pull-in through the I-tubes.

Delivery of the flexibles was completed during August 2006, with all flowline sections being delivered directly by transspooling from NKT storage turntable to the receiving carousel of the installation vessel "Acergy Polar Queen". All jumpers and risers, a total of 14 self-supporting coils and 5 off NKT standard 9.2m OD offshore installation reels were shipped from NKT to Dundee on August 29, 2006 thereby completing NKT's delivery. According to the plan, production is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2007.
