John H. Seabury, M.D., Professor Emeritus of Medicine at Louisiana State University School of Medicine died September 20, 2005 in Tomball, Texas. He was born December 24, 1910 in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Seabury graduated from the University of Michigan and its medical school. He also completed his internal medicine residency in Ann Arbor, MI. Because of his interest in infectious diseases he joined the LSU Medical School faculty in 1945 as as Assistant Professor of Medicine. Shorty after, he became Director of the Lung Station at Charity Hospital. During his years at LSU and Charity Hospital, he was active in the care of tuberculosis and polio patients. He was the author of many articles primarily in pulmonary and infectious diseases. He was a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, New York Academy of Sciences, American Federation of Clinical Research. Also president 1959-60 Southern Chapter, American College of Chest Physicians. After retiring from the medical school in 1975, he joined the staff of Savoy Medical Center in Mamou, LA. In Mamou, he was a medical consultant, Chairman of the Infection Committee and Director of Medical Seminars and In-service Training. He retired for the second time in 1990. In 1989, Dr. Seabury was honored by LSU School of Medicine with the initiation of the John H. Seabury Professorship. Survivors include his wife, Maureen Seabury; a son, John B. Seabury; a daughter, Pamela S. Carpenter of Bainbridge Island, WA; and four grandsons. There was no funeral. Burial was in Klein Memorial Park, Tomball, Texas. Charles Edgar ``Ed'' Thompson, a retired chief clerk with the William G. Helis Company, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at his home in Metairie, LA. He was 86. Mr. Thompson had evacuated to Birmingham, Alabama ahead of Hurricane Katrina. His health deteriorated during his five-week exile and he suffered congestive heart failure and renal failure. Born in Coshocton, Ohio, Mr. Thompson worked with the Helis Company for 42 years and was a longtime resident of Gentilly Woods. He lived in Metairie, LA for the past 33 years, where he was a communicant of St. Christopher Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 33 years, Audrey Lipps Thompson; two daughters, Debra T. Madere and her husband, Daniel C. Madere of Metairie, LA and Linda T. Buckley and her husband, Wilmer J. Buckley Jr. of Houston, TX; a stepdaughter, Joan Lipps of Mandeville, LA; a stepson, Fred J. Lipps and his wife, Kit H. Lipps of Metairie, LA; and by a brother, Joe E. Thompson of Columbus, OH. He was the grandfather of Duane C. Madere, Sr., Folsom, LA; Michael J. Buckley, Pearl River, LA and Benjamin M. Buckley, North Richland Hills, TX. He was the step-grandfather of Valerie S. Dirks, Clarksville, Tennessee, Mario J. Scramuzza Jr., Covington, LA, Allison K. Kieffer, Metairie, LA and Dana L. Schneider, Carriere, Mississippi. He was the great-grandfather of Duane C. ``D.J.'' Madere Jr., Folsom, LA and Nicholas M. Buckley, Pearl River, LA. He was step-great-grandfahter of Chad, Amanda and Lucas Dirks, Clarksville, TN, Stefan and Chelsey Karasoulis, Metairie, LA, Harry Kiefer, Metairie, LA and Gianni Scramuzza, Covington, LA. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Cieutat Thompson; by his parents, Mary E. Schleick Thompson and William A. Thompson; a brother, William R. Thompson; and a sister, Jean T. Reynolds. The family gives special thanks to those who helped Mr. Thompson in his final days -- U.S. Rep. Thomas Ray Stallings, a District Sales Manager for Crescent Crown Distributing, died September 21, 2005, of a heart attack. He was 45. Tom was born in Vicksburg, MS and lived in New Orleans, LA for the past 35 years. He was an active member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church, where he served as on ordained Roman Catholic deacon for the past 4 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Patricia Stallings; two daughters: Jennifer and Amanda; his mother, Dorothy Stallings of Baton Rouge, LA; a brother, Bill Stallings; and a sister, Connie Stallings Fournet. Susan Neilson Plauche, age 53, died of breast cancer on Sunday, August 28, 2005 in the Natchez Regional Medical Center. Ms. Plauche was born September 8, 1951 in New Orleans, LA. Daughter of Elizabeth DeWeese Neilson and the late Jack Herman Neilson. Mother of Emily Maxwell of Natchez, MS, Charles S. Plauche Jr. of Birmingham, AL and Michael B. Plauche of Charleston, SC. She was a graduate of Louisiana State University where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and later served as their House Mother. She was an executive in the children's clothing industry and a community volunteer. Marion Elizabeth Fahrmann Seruntine, born October 24, 1910, died Monday, October 24, 2005, in Jackson Parish Hospital in Jonesboro, LA on her 95th birthday. Mrs. Seruntine was evacuated from Colonial Nursing Home in Metairie, LA during Hurricane Katrina. Born in San Antonio, Texas and a resident of New Orleans and Metairie, LA. Reunited with her beloved late husband, Karl Robert Seruntine; her sisters: Althea Fahrmann and Carolyn Fahrmann Patin; and parents, Louis S. and Caroline J. Fahrmann. Survived by her brother and sister, Louis E. Fahrmann, Sr. and Nelvia Fahrmann Berggren; and brother and sister-in-law, Joseph Berggren and Adele Surentine. She worked as a housewife. Surviving are 2 daughters, Jean W. LaFosse of Kenner and Myrna W. Brewer of Ponchatoula; son, Ralph George Wiebelt, Jr. of Ponchatoula; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Ralph Wiebelt, Sr.; parents: John Charles Dunham and Albertine Elenora Wiebelt; and grandchild: Richard Lynn Brewer.

Jaylen Mikael Jahla Thomas was born May 14, 2005 in New Orleans, LA and went to be with his Lord on Saturday, October 29, 2005 in Houston, TX. He was five months old. Jaylen had a brief but loving relationship with twin brother, Kyren and three year old sister, Di'Avion. He was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed. Jaylen is survived by his parents, Candace Walker and Bertell Thomas; brothers, Kyren, Jaden and Bertell; sisters, DiAvion and Nijah all of New Orleans, LA; grandparents, great-grandparents, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held at Sheffield Funeral Directors, Houston, TX on Sunday, November 6, 2005 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Kelly Missionary Baptist Church, 6063 Osyka Progress Rd., Osyka, MS on Monday, November 7, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Burial in Church Cemetery.

Herman Joseph ``Puney'' Schexnaydre, a lifelong resident of New Sarpy, Louisiana, entered eternal life on November 2, 2005 in Baton Rouge, LA. A retired carpenter, he was 68 years old. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Merlene Poche Schexnaydre and his five children and their spouses: Olivia and Michael Denoux of Norco, Jerome and Gayle G. Schexnaydre and Richard and Sherry B. Schexnaydre of Destrehan, Ramona and Mark Duhe of Luling and Rock and Stacey R. Schexnaydre, also of Norco. He was ``Popa'' to 8 grandchildren: Candice and Countney Denoux, Jeremy, Shelby, Zachary, Avery, Rock Austin and Madelyn Schexnaydre. He is also survived by his only living sibling, Mable Schexnaydre of New Sarpy. He was preceded in death by his parents Rock Louis and Marie Olivia Zeringue Schexnaydre, 4 brothers: Louis, Wilfred, Andre and Daniel Schexnaydre, and one sister Mildred Schexnaydre Weber. ``Puney'' was also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Metairie chapter American Legion Post 195. Father of Suzanne Stern Koretzky of New Orleans, LA and Stephen Stern of Dallas, TX. Father-in-law of Dr. Emil Koretzky and Mrs. Harrian Stern. Brother of Maxine Stern Winston of Studio City, California, Mae Jane Stern Simon of Lafayette, La and the late Charles Louis Stern. Grandfather of Heidi Koretzky Hages of Covington, LA, Lindsey Koretzky of New Orleans, LA, Marc Koretzky of Atlanta, Georgia, Ashley Stern of Dallas, TX and Barrett Stern of Dallas, TX. Dr. Stern was a native and lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA and a graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine. He was in private practice in New Orleans from 1945-1990 and on the staff of Touro Infirmary. He was a Clinical Professor Emeritus of Tulane University School of Medicine and a staff physician with the Veterans Administration Hospital from 1990-2003. He then went on to work with Cannon Hospice of New Orleans. He did extensive research with the Upjohn Corporation and other pharmaceutical companies in developing saccharine, aspartame and other products for diabetic patients. He was a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He was a volunteer at the New Orleans Museum of Art and a founder of the Diabetes Association of New Orleans, LA. Funeral Services to take place at the Forgotston Chapel of Touro Synagogue, 4238 St. Charles Ave. on Sunday afternoon, November 6, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Rabbi Andrew Busch officiating. Interment in Hebrew Rest Cemetery (Frenchman at Pelopidas Streets). Friends may visit the family at Touro Synagogue on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Marian Judy Pyburn departed this life peacefully on November 3, 2005. Age 76 and a resident of Covington, LA for the past 45 years. The daughter of the late Byron and Marie Judy of Cochranville, PA. She was born in West Grove, PA and graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelors degree in Home Economics. She later graduated from UNO with a Paralegal degree. Marian was an avid Nittany Lion fan. She was a flight attendant with Capital Airlines and later a paralegal with the law firm of Liskow and Lewis in New Orleans, LA. Marian was a devoted member of the Faith Presbyterian Church and was active in many church and civic organizations in the community. She enjoyed playing bridge, golf and spending time with her family and friends. Marian is survived by her 4 children: DeWitt D. Pyburn, M.D. of N.Y., N.Y., Robert L. Pyburn of San Francisco, CA, Judy P. Manton and Frank B. Pyburn of Covington, LA; her 7 grandchildren: Natalie and Katherine Pyburn of Baton Rouge, LA, Douglas, Jason and David Manton and Jacob Pyburn of Covington, LA and Sarah Granier of Houston, TX. She is also survived by 3 siblings: Margaret Graham, Eleanor Smith and Robert Judy.
