Construction

1. Sew 3 7/8" navy triangles to the short sides of the yellow 7 1/4" triangles to make a flying-geese unit. Make four units.

2. Sew flying-geese units to opposite sides of the 6 1/2" Water Lily-on-navy square; press. Sew a Water Lily-on-green square to both ends of each remaining flying-geese unit and sew them to the center square; press.

3. Sew 3 7/8" navy triangles to the short sides of each Water Lily-on-green rectangle. Press the seams toward the navy triangles. Sew a 7 1/4" navy triangle to one long side of the rectangle to make a large triangle unit; press. Sew small-Water-Lily triangles to the short sides of the large triangle unit. Press the seams toward the triangles. Make four. 4. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of each 3 1/2" navy square. Place a marked square on one corner of a large-Water-Lily square, right sides together. Sew along the marked line. Trim the excess fabric leaving a 1/4"-wide seam allowance. Press toward the navy triangle. Repeat to sew a marked square on each remaining corner to make a Diamond-in-a-Square block; press. Make four blocks.

5. Sew a rectangle unit from step 3 to opposite sides of the center unit from step 2; press. Sew a block from step 4 to both ends of each remaining rectangle unit and sew them to the top and bottom of the center unit; press.

6. Repeat step 4, using the remaining 3 1/2" navy squares and the medium-Water-Lily squares. Make eight Diamond-in-a-Square blocks.

7. Sew yellow 3 7/8" triangle to adjacent sides of each Tossed-WaterLily square to make a triangle unit; press. Sew a small-Water-Lily triangle to the triangle unit to make eight side units. Sew a Water Lilyon-navy to the remaining triangle units to make four corner units.

8. Sew two blocks from step 6 and two small-Water-Lily side units from step 7 together to make a block row; press. Make four rows.

9. Sew a block row to opposite sides of the center unit; press. Sew a corner block from step 7 to both ends of each remaining block row and sew them to the top and bottom of the center unit; press. The center unit should measure 36 1/2" square, which includes seam allowances. 10. Sew 3 7/8" yellow triangles to the short sides of the navy 7 1/4" triangles to make a flying-geese unit. Make four units. 11. Sew a 3 7/8" yellow and a 3 7/8" navy triangle together to make a half-square triangle unit. Make 24.

12. Sew six half-square units from step 11, one flying-geese unit from step 10, two Water Lily-ongreen squares, and two Tossed-Water-Lily squares together to make a border row. Make four rows.

13. Sew a border strip from step 12 to opposite sides of the center unit; press. Sew a Water Lilyon-green square to both ends of each remaining border strip and sew them to the top and bottom of the center unit; press. 14. Sew the 2"-wide yellow strips end to end to make a long strip. From the long strip, cut two 42 1/2"-long strips and sew them to the sides of the quilt. From the remaining long strip, cut two 45 1/2"-long strips and sew them to the top and bottom of the quilt top. Press all seams toward the newly added borders. 15. Sew the 1 1/2"-wide navy strips end to end to make a long strip. From the long strip, cut two 45 1/2"-long strips and sew them to the sides of the quilt. From the remaining long strip, cut two 47 1/2"-long strips and sew them to the top and bottom of the quilt top. Press all seams toward the newly added borders.

16. Sew the 5" x 47 1/2" Water Lily-on-navy strips to the sides of the quilt top, and then sew the 5" x 56 1/2" strips to the top and bottom of the quilt top. Press all seams toward the newly added borders. 17. Layer the quilt top with batting and backing. Quilt as desired. Bind the edges to finish.
