Tests must be carried out within 10 days of sampling. Samples should be taken at point of delivery only. A value greater than 60 seconds is permitted provided that the emulsion can meet the transverse distribution requirements as specified in IS EN 12272-1 or BS 1707-1989. The binder content when determined by IS EN 1428 shall be defined as, 100 ­ Water Content. The binder content when determined by IS EN 1431 shall be defined as, per cent by mass of recovered binder + per cent by mass of oil distillate. In addition the per cent mass of recovered binder is to be reported as a separate value to the nearest 0.1%. Due to the requirement for high viscosity emulsions for surface dressing the NRA requires that the binder content (Bitumen + Oil Content) must be above 68.5%. TBR: value To Be Reported only. NPD: No Performance Determined. The oil distillate may be increased to £5 percent (class 4) and the penetration value of the residue from distillation may be increased to 300 when spraying is carried out between October and April.
